Looking at the list and seeing the names of those isims, I think the people of Sool & Sanaag have spoken clearly: back off Somaliland! Your military presence around LA cannot be ignored anymore. It proved to be quite consequential.

 

The division within the community is both minor and negligible when it comes to what is at stake here. And those who are arguing on that basis are missing the point. Somaliland wants to secede and genuinely thinks it’s paramount for her to get the missing links in place and assure its territorial integrity--- as she sees it. Puntland is militarily weak (I think it was a charity of sort for Somaliland to have ceased its military surge) and politically corrupt. But it has better tribal cohesion and more sound moral argument to resist this separatist agenda. And it must.
