Arab Nations supported Ethiopia's Invention in Somalia

 

 

Nairobi (HAN) January 29, 2007 - The Prime Minister Meles Zenawi says nations including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and African nations have supported Ethiopia’s military involvement in Somalia to eradicated Al-Itihad/ONLF and other .

The leader of Ethiopia Ato Meles told journalists that Ethiopia has received the unreserved support of African nations for the measures it has taken against the extremist and terrorists (Al-Itihad/ONLF, OLF and UIC) Militias in Somalia as well as for its Arab diplomatic actions.

 

Meles said countries expressed they recognize Ethiopia’s intervention in Somalia was a proper measure and one without option, in addition to expressing that the victory gained was not only an Ethiopian victory, but also an African victory to secure the region.

 

Prime Minister Meles said his discussion with President Mubarak by Phone was focused on the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Egypt, on conflict situations in Africa, particularly the case of the Southern Somalia.

 

The leader of Ethiopia ato Meles said he briefed President Mubarak about the measures Ethiopia has taken in Southern Somalia, to which Egyptian leadership expressed its full support to secure Somalia. The prime minister said about the upcoming eight ordinary session of AU Assembly would pass by way of a resolution, Prime Minister Meles expressed anticipation that the resolution should provide for ways of swift deployment of AU peacekeeping force to Somalia, and the finalization of the necessary preparations for it.

The Islamists; Osama bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, iwm have listened and instructed the global Islamic insurgency to help Somalis. Clearly, you can't expect secular governments to help Islamists; even Rayaale's government wouldn't help Islamists, instead he would collaborate with foreign countries (Ethiopia, the US, iwm) to kill them (which is what actually happened). So, this is about seculars helping each other, and Islamists helping each other.

Arab nations supported the invasion of iraq.The U.S.A has many bases in the arab peninsula.So what's the suprise if they did?After all it's their oil money which directly or indirectly funds these wars............

Pledges for Lebanon Donor Conference

What countries and institutions pledged in aid and loans to Lebanon at a donor conference in Paris on Thursday:

 

UNITED STATES - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the Bush administration is seeking $770 million in new aid for Lebanon. The money, which must be approved by Congress, would finance long-term redevelopment and immediate rebuilding from last year's devastating war between Hezbollah militants and Israel.

 

FRANCE - A loan of $650 million at ``very advantageous'' terms.

 

EUROPEAN UNION - $650 million in new aid and loans.

 

SAUDI ARABIA - $1 billion in development funding and an additional $100 million grant for the Lebanese government.

 

GERMANY - $134 million.

 

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - $300 million.

 

SOUTH KOREA - Reluctant to offer a new donation beyond the $5.5 million pledged last year.

 

BRITAIN - $48 million for a U.N. refugee agency, on top of $115 million that Britain had already pledged over four years.

 

DENMARK - $3.5 million for mine-clearance, aid and implementing U.N. resolution 1701.

 

CHINA - Promising ``assistance within our capacity.''

 

JAPAN - Promising new aid on top of $7 million already pledged since July. New total will exceed $10 million, the Foreign Ministry said.

 

WORLD BANK - President Paul Wolfowitz said the bank was ready to extend, through its various arms, about $1 billion in new loans, grants and other aid.

 

EUROPEAN INVESTMENT BANK - $1.2 billion.

 

ISLAMIC DEVELOPMENT BANK - $250 million.
