Root Cause of the Somali Conflict

Recommended Posts

OLOL

Tribalist/clannish men from nomadic background suddenly became the elite leaders of the new nascent nation. These men had no skills, no concept of governance and most of all, they were semi literates with mediocre intellectual conditioning to begin with?. .Geel jire maxuu heysan karaa? What this lead to? Corruption, nepotism, authoritarianism, political exclusion, private exploitation of the public wealth. They thrived on that system and have single-handedly succeeded in weaving clan animosities into the fabric of our society. Because of that, today, there is no Somali over the age of 20 who is immune of this clan plague.

We still have the remnant of these folks and they are the ones who keeping alive and perpetuating the same evil clan distrust and its destructive past policies.

There is no one capable of challenging their interest and hold them accountable of their past crimes.

These men have no concept of what it means to form a viable modern government with market democracy, with functioning economy, tax systems, banking, parties, electoral process, informed constituents, participatory politics, governmental institutions, courts, police, and penal system.

I am sure these are concept that alien to Yeey and his clique.

It's sad most of the Somali people are loyal to such men. No Somali will deny how evil these men are and yet they remain faithful to them.

Olol do you ever stop? Sxb, in all honesty, you are one of the main reasons our country is still in turmoil and you are NOT even supposedly Somali! You come in here day by day spitting vile about whole regions, areas, and people of Somali descent. The other side isn't a saint, but you are a whole case in it itself. Stop your melodramatic calaacal everyday and realize it takes two to tango. Don't fall into hypocritical bigotry just so to have a defense mechanism that you think makes you impenetrable. Sxb continue in your path and your insides will turn into wax qurmoon. Other then that you don't seem like a bad person.

Elaborate. Do you mean OLOL isn't ethnically Somali, or he isn't nationally Somali? For the first, there are many who're not ethnically Somali but are nationally Somali, and vice versa for the later. AFAIK, OLOL has an excellent track record of caring about Somalis, especially those in dire straits (read his article about the small girl), and Somalia's environmental catastrophes (read his many articles about the toxic wastes).

In the sense of the words, Somali nationality is synonymous with the Somali ethnicity. You can be an ethnic Somali without having to be a Somali national, but you can't be a Somali national without being an ethnic Somali. People will just think of you as an ajnabi.

So, according to your elaboration, the foundation of Somali nationalism is based on a particular ethnicity?

Haddaad is undoubtedly dialectical and a didactic brother in the sense that his contribution is aimed to instruct or expose a wrong without directly saying it. I am amused when he gets into an exchange with someone and no one in the particular exchange or discussion wants to relinquish their points of view. Makes a funny read indeed.

laakiin noomaadka waaba nooc kale.

I think haddaad likes to make things very clear and concise with no hidden agenda, he corrects nomads who gone-off-topics, he also corrects their points which gone astray, we need someone like Haddaad

ps: I hope he won't correct me of what I just said smile.gif

No actually, you can be non-somali, but still have roots in Somalia that extend back for centuries. That's what's commonly reffered to "carab isku dhajis"..you know "carab aa ahay" Just be glad you haven't met one of those confused souls yet.

OLOL, OK, tribalism is a primitive ideology that isn't very successful in our world. When Siyaad Barre (ala ya Raxma) started to mess with qabyaalad, and proposed that we would start calling eachother "comrades" instead of "ina abti/adeer" is when things started to look bad for the poor dictator. You see, he violated the first rule of opportunism - you give the ppl what they think they want. So if the ppl want to adhere to a bilogical doctrine as their main religion, then let them! Give them their peice of desert land, and their very own clan-flag, and they will be over the top. Just a tip for all you future dictators of Somalia ;)
