The new commander of The Somali Islamists: Sheikh Abdiqadir.

Recommended Posts

Jan 25, 2007 (MOGADISHU) — The Somali Islamists militias said they have completed their preparations for war against the Ethiopian troops. The ousted Islamic courts, also, denied the withdrawal of the Ethiopian army describing it as public relation operation.

According to the Somali pro-Islamist website KismaayoNews, the Islamists militias have appointed a new war commander meant to operate only in Banaadir Region, Mogadishu and its environs. The new commander is known as Sheikh Abdiqadir. The website mentioned it will not give the full name for security reasons.

The new commander has regrouped together all the former Islamic courts forces which have been in shambles since Ethiopian captured the country. The first trial operation by the new commander was carried out yesterday when the forces attacked Mogadishu International Airport.

"Yesterday’s attack was a trial by Commander Sheikh Abdiqadir who wanted to see the possibility of attacking the most protected area in Mogadishu by the Ethiopian troops in broad daylight," an unidentified speaker told Kismaayonews.

When asked whom they were targeting in their upcoming attacks as the Ethiopians would soon be leaving the country, the unidentified speaker said:

"The Tigrayans are not going anywhere. This story of leaving the country is merely ’public relations’. We are engaging the Tigrayans in a war that would return back to their country so that Prime Minister Meles Zenawi will never rule Ethiopia where he is currently colonizing over 70 million people.

"There will be no more foreign troops that will arrive in Somalia. At the moment, we are engaged in a war with the two enemies of Somalia; the USA and the Ethiopians” he said. “They have now been joined by Kenya. The Islamic courts forces are at the moment discussing how to deal with Kenya," the speaker added.

This new mobilization by the people of Banaadir Region is going on simultaneously with the war of the mujahidiins in the Jubba regions in southern Somalia where they are inflicting heavy losses on the enemy as the courts’ administration and capability are largely found in these regions.

This Sheikh sounds like a risky taker, he send his men to attack on board daylight the most secured area is Mogadishu, imagine what sort of destructions they will have on the TFG or Ethiopian invaders during night hours if they attack.

I am just shocked that Villa Somalia isn’t the most secured area is Mogadishu, poor YEY. The ICU could have killed him if they wanted to, but somehow assassination isn’t in their agenda right now.

Islamic leaders are to a certain extent essential to a nation's rebuilding and governing, especially when the country is a Muslim one.

lol@to chase them away.

yeah forget the birds, they will come down once we have enough supply of shimbara laaye.

As for the mujaahidada Mystic.Well, fresh new face is always good to get this thing rolling again Insha Allah. We prayed for them we hope that Allah secures them into taking back our country from the invaders from Abysinia.

Indhacadde's tactics didnt' work at all, so I think it's abou time the ICU re thought through everything and operated like the type of fighting force they were meant to be,Gorrila fighting force.

They should continue the suprise attacks, until they get enough man power, and weaken the Addis regime significantly.

They should continue until the people in Addis feel the heat coming from the East,so that they feel threaten and scared in their own towns.

Besides, we don't need Abdullahi Yusuf, he will come and go as he came.If the Xabashis are defeated, then he will share the same fate with them. The thing we need to do is get rid of Ethiopia however it takes. They shall realize they have made the biggest mistake ever in invading Somalia.

Ethiopian soldier dies in Somalia

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ethiopian Soldiers in Somalia()

hadhwanaag 2007-01-25 (Hadhwanaagnews) Somali army commander Abdulrazak Afgudud told the BBC that several people had been arrested.

The Ethiopian soldiers were on board a pick-up truck when the gunmen shot at them and escaped.

Ethiopia has begun a phased withdrawal of its troops from Somalia after helping the government oust Islamists.

The African Union is putting together a peacekeeping force to replace the Ethiopians.

AU chair Alpha Oumar Konare has appealed to countries across the continent to send peacekeepers to Somalia, saying there could be a "tragedy" without rapid intervention.

He said Ghana had agreed to supply troops, following Uganda, Malawi and Nigeria.

He was speaking ahead of next week's AU summit, at which the situation in Somalia is set to be high on the agenda.

In neighbouring Kenya, one of the main financial backers of the Union of Islamic Courts faces being sent back to Somalia, after pleading guilty to illegally entering Kenya.

A lawyer for Abubakar Omar Aden, a 72-year old businessman, who once controlled Somalia's El Maan port, said his life would be in danger if he was deported.

One of the UIC leaders, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, is also in Kenya, where he has held secret talks with US ambassador Michael Ranneberger.

Since the Islamists were removed from power in Mogadishu, Kenyan has closed its borders and deported dozens of Somalis who fled into the country.

Market shut

The BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan in Somalia says the Ethiopian soldiers were shopping at the time of the attack and were caught unawares.

"The gunmen used pistols and they have taken away AK-47 riffles from the Ethiopian soldiers," witness Abdullahi Hassan told the AP news agency.

Business premises at the market have been shut down following the attack - the first since Ethiopians and government troops took control of Kismayo earlier this month.

Some Islamists have pledged to conduct a guerrilla war against government forces. More than 3,000 Islamist gunmen are believed to have gone into hiding.

Kismayo was the last major town held by the Union of Islamic Courts to be taken by Somali government and Ethiopian forces.
