Expatriate Somalis return to help rebuild Puntland

Recommended Posts

Thankful

If it is her, it's good to see she left the internet world and is doing something positive. Gaalkayo is a city that holds two different clans and has always been tense. Even during Siad time.

Somalis in Puntland need more of their diaspora to return and help build. Unlike mogadishu which was the capital and hargeysa the second capital which both were getting the focus of the government in the 60s 70s and 80s, Nothing in Puntland was ever built in the pre-civil war era(maybe the road and that's it), everything that's there was built within the last decade and a bit. Even the port if you see it upclose was only half way done. There's no ruined old buildings and what not everythings new. It's remarkable how much they built on their own in the last little while.

Yeah well most Diaspora come and helps a few months a year. I think this was the doctor from Italy that I met in Gaalkayo, he was doing a great job helping the poor, but he could only stay for a couple months, another in Bosasso from Finland was there for most of the year. They(the doctors) need organization though, where they take turns coming and going, that way there isn't any gaps and the sick can get constant care. Still what hibo is doing is commendable.

Lander,

You had a port that I believe the russians built in berbera, which is enormous for your economy! as well you had an airport, more importantly the runway. Puntland has no paved runways anywhere, Gaalkayo sort of does but was never ment to land big planes! Like I said earlier the port was never completed in Puntland. Your diaspora built hargeysa like no other place in Somalia I'll admit that. But the city still had many structures, some urban planning. Except for a half built port and the major paved road, Puntland had nothing built by previous gov'ts.

Yes lander hargeisa was getting attention more than every other city in the county (except Mogadisho which was and it's capital of the country.

if youb deny thisa you're sick  you need immediate treatment at Emergency Dep. ;)

*** can you deny the Hargetsa & Berbera Airoports, berbera Port long road between Gaowe to hargeysa, camuud school, sheekh secondrar as well as many beatifull building and other infrstuctures in Hargeysa?

Cige,

Some of the infrastructure you talk about above (Including Sheekh Secondary School) was built by the british before Somali indepedence. Hargeysa got no real attention from any government when it was part of Somalia just like the rest of the country except for Mugdisho.

Back to the question adressed in this thread, this girl and all other expatriats who have gone back home to help their people should be congratulated and if possible emulated by all of the somali people in the west.
