What is Alshabaab fighting for?

Are they fighting for political gains? financial power? fame? or something beyond those three..

1. They were crashed and lost more than half of their fighting forces in summer of 2006 and the rest of their remaining forces were pursued by U.S AC gunships near the Kenyan border.

2. They lost all the territory they've won in early 2006 to U.S/Ethiopia and local lackeys.

3. Their overall leader was killed by U.S airstrikes.

4. They faced continues comdemnations and pressure from the international community. They were demonized by the Media of the locals and internationally as well.

But despite these overwhelming odds, they have recovered, moblized and won back almost all the territory lost in '06. They have defeated single handily the Ethiopian war machine and TFG militia and many clanish milia organziations. They have shown termendous patience and indurance under all those tough circumstances and have not wavered or gone stray from their original messege. Something tells me, what they fight for is not for narrow goals. If so, they would have run, hide, or even abandon their objective when the war didn't favor them.

Dont worry they will be crushed again and then wiped out this time.

The warlords of Mogadishu lasted for nearly 15 years. These clowns are running around for less than 4 and have alrady been damaged once.

Its a fad a fashion and nothing more.

^That is the difference between warlords such Abdullahi Yusuf and these guys. No matter how many times they are knocked down, they are gonna get right back up and continue their fight until they win. They have already proven that against Ethiopia and your uncle ina Yey haven't they?

^^^lool. They ahve proven nothing, Yusuf defeated them. He left in style after resigning. His region is stable and strong and those who supported his downfall are now all cowring under the bullets.

Yusuf is a leader of Somali men. Al Shabaab are followers of confused Arab heretics, and thus their advantage is that of the new. Somali's in the case of Ahlu Sunna groups have proven how weak they are in Guriceel. A small village which routed Goodane and Co.

Like I said on many occasion dont belive the hype.

Al Shabaab are fighting to hide their Arab paymasters under the skirs of Mogadishu's women and at the expense of its poor people.

By defeating Xabashi army (though their halgan alone were not), don't forget they had the majority Soomaali people's unwavering support. Not anymore. Qaladkee gali jireena waa la iskaga aamusnaan jiray waayadii hore because cadowga ayaa dalka joogay. Not anymore again. Wax aan loo dulqaadan karin ku dhaqmaan.

They are increasingly behaving like a despot, with their downright dictatorial and authoritarian ways.

Forcing 70-year-olds grandmothers, for example, to wear jilbaab, some who can't handle it in the heat of Soomaali climate is completely way out of line.

If you hear the horrible actions they commit in the areas they control from the victims themselves, magacooda maqalkiisa ku dhibi lahaa even. Waa cawaan, wax ay diinteena suuban Islaam ka ogyihiin maleh, ka ahayn jihaad, jihaad iyo jihaad. Their atrocious actions and frightening un-Islaamic ways, if not abated soon, waxeeba ku sigan rabtaa inay diintaba dadka nacsiyaan mar dhow, runtii.

Meel ay gaarayaan ma jirto, only taking the still unrecovering country of Soomaaliya and innocent, poor war-weary Soomaalis' blood down with them, intee isleeyihiin meel ayaa gaareysiin.

They have no political plan whatsoever for the country. Eebba ha idmee meelna ma gaari doonaan.

But al-Shabab has also antagonised the leaders of the ****** clan, which dominates the area around Mogadishu. Their spokesman Ahmed Dire said he had been targeted.

Mr Dire said that the council was neutral and was "working for peace and talking to every group involved in the violence".

"But whenever we try to contact al-Shabab, they lie to us or never call back". :D He accused the group of wanting "to kill meaningful people in society".

Shabaab isnt much interested in M Society. I wonder what the fate of So called Odayaasha Beelaha ****** will be?

Red-Sea,

Do you support Alshabab?

If so, how can you support an entity without knowing what exactly they are fighting for?

You said, ''something tells me..'' indicating the fact that you are not really sure what they are fighting for exactly.
