Tell Us The Best Poem You Ever Read

~~hi there, did you remember the best poem you ever read? let me share with us plzz//

~~Is not necessarily by Thoreau

Or for that matter Keats or Shelley

Or Edgar Allan Poe

It might not be amongst the

Dusty books there on the shelf

The greatest poem you ever read

May just be written by yourself

Did you ever write a poem?

That just made you softly sigh

Or was there one that emotion

Made you bittersweetly cry

Is there one that was born to you?

That made you wholly believe

Words weren't born long time ago

You yourself can conceive

This poem that I am writing

Is not the best there ever was

But few poems can do for me

What my own poetry does

When you think of Percey Shelly

And when you think of ole John Keats

Remember theirs is their own

Even if

You wish to match their feats

I hope the poetry you respect

From which have made you grown

I hope the greatest poem you ever read

Was one you call your own ..

Done..

*****aykumu salaam wr wb Batuulo/

nice peice hon. I'll share with you the best poem i ever read...

Here's to a brother, once one of us

He kept to the faith, good and pious

But where is he now? oh Allah, I beseech

He's out Friday Night doing drugs on the streets

Did you see it coming , did any of you know?

If you did, did you help him those few years ago?

Now his life is meaningless and bleak

Once a strong brother, now he is weak

Here's to our sister, once righteous and pure

She prayed and she fasted, her Deen was for sure

Now, at eighteen, she's no longer chaste

Her innocent spirit, all gone to waste

God gave us all eyes for us to see

Yet we each still claim "it will never be me"

And these two from our Ummah once claimed that too

SO..My Sisters, My brothers,

IT COULD ALWAYS BE YOU

Assalaama Alaykum W.W

Maasha Allaah sis's good piece's I realy lov't ..

now i'll share this one..

When I say. . .I am a Muslim,

I'm not shouting " down with Christians and Jews."

I am whispering "I seek peace,"

and Islam is the path that I choose.

When I say. . . I am a Muslim,

I speak of this with pride.

And confess that sometimes I stumble,

and need Allah to be my guide.

When I say. . .I am a Muslim,

I know this makes me strong.

And in those times when I am weak,

I pray to Allah for strength to carry on.

When I say. . . I am a Muslim,

I'm not boasting of success.

I'm acknowledging that Allah has rescued me,

and I cannot ever repay the debt.

When I say. . .I am a Muslim,

I'm not claiming to be perfect.

My flaws are indeed visible,

but Allah forgives because his followers are worth it.

When I say. . .I am a Muslim,

it does not mean I will never feel pain.

I still have my share of heartaches,

which is why I invoke Allah's name.

When I say. . .I am a Muslim,

I do not wish to judge.

I have no such authority

My duty is to submit to Allah's all-encompassing love

I think the poetry(verse) which i enjoyed reading most was --She walks in beauty like the night by Lord Byron.

SHE walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that 's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impair'd the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o'er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

bY FAR...THIS IS THE BEST POEM

...I DUNNO IT JUST FELT SO MUCH CLOSE TO HOME NA'MEAN...ENJOY

MY Somali Queens..

you have surpassed every obstacle to create what has now become your lives

even braved being our wife's

many have tried to explain the endurance of your pride

but still struggle to understand the courage you posses inside

but as sure as the sun meets its horizon in the distant shores

you were all about weathering storms and fighting through downpours

learning sign languages at times when your speech fell on deaf years

putting on a smile amidst all the pain inflicted to u through out the years

like the times when we hurt u, abandon u, cursed u, disrespected u

for all the sacrifices that you have made

for all the fights that you shouldn't have fought

for the echo of your pain

and for the silence of your laugh

SORRY........is long over due

but forgiveness we trust is part of you

for you are truly a phenomenon in your own right

a majestic eagle upon its flight

you are like the dawn mildew fragrances of jasmine

in beautiful garden scented names...i believe they called you yasmine

and i wish that i had multiple identities

and each identity had split personalities

because i am in love with amina, hodo, shadiya, and naima respectively

i am in love with rahma, amran, and fadumo equally

i love every thing about u down to your dirac when it is blessed with some onsi

you see.....you are my mother, my sister, my niece, my friend, my wife

and i have realized that you are my life

and i could give you mercedes

and whole lot of roses

and even some daises

I could give you expensive cars

and a whole lot of diamonds stars

and even some gold bars

and if you like i could buy you cashmere blouses

and a couple of big house

i could give you all that stuff

but instead i choose to give you my love

because you are my Somali queen

the only in my scene

the one whom i would swim upstream

and rescue in an untold dream

beautiful, intelligent, elegant and still maintaining her diin

I MEAN

who am i but just a fiend for my Somali Queen

woow

Cap~Soul ... too hot ;)

~~~~Love piece is coming~~~~
May happiness be yours , all your wishes be fullfilled,
This poor man' s heart pray's with every breath.
How could I possibly bring you in to my poverty,
You were a diamond deserving to sit in throne.
When I love someone I should give her paradise,
Why should share with her my helplessness.
May every branch, every force love you alone,
So much that you don't even remember my name
May god give me all the thorns meant for you,
May victory and effortless successbe yours
May your pure eyes be as sharp as sun-rays,
Even the Sun may blink If you stare at it
Let there never be a tear in your eyes,
Let there never be a hurdle on your way.
Not a speck of dust ever touch your clean cloth,
Touch of your feet would melt any mountain's heart
By my respiration, may your blood be redder,
Cause my devoted heart is only your's and your's forever
