Feminist, socialist, devout Muslim: woman who has thrown Denmark into turmoil

^^I saw pictures of your oversized stoach :D we are no where near same size

Ngonge:

I have no problem with separating the church from the state, and having man made rules to govern the state based on democracy or whatever, but then it is contradictor to claim anything on Islam, If she defines her position I've no problem, but don't give me mambo jumbo about Islam and then have views that are clearly incompatible with it. If her Islamic views mutually reinforce democracy then great, if it is the other way around then, she is confusing herself by trying to achieve any impossible goal.

Islam and democracy as two opposing ideological sources, with different sets of values, and methods of political, economic, social and moral means of control (in most parts) so she cannot lump them together like she often does. This is not to say that Islam and democracy do not have common values at times either.

^^^ I've been dying to play football for a while now. I did a bit when I was in Syria and it reminded me of the good old days.

Xan,

You are going by your interpretation of Islam not hers. Surely by now you realise that our good faith can be interpreted in a million ways and that they’re all applicable. She feels that she can reconcile her faith with her politics. You think she’s wrong? Fine. Confused? Unacceptable.

Now you are just being hardheaded.^That can be said for almost everything, Islam is not defined and redefined to suit your actions, rather one should fit into Islam. But okay I'll leave you to it as well, I think her confusion is getting to you! :D

She supports abortion rights, which is a direct contradiction with her faith (I checked on her to see if she added for medical reasons etc, and she doesn't) finally she could not care less what goes on in other people's bedrooms, okay fine, unless it is rape, domestic violence etc (But I know that’s not the intended purpose)

So what is my problem, well she seems to imply (not in this article specifically, but in interviews and other material I have read) that it is her that makes this changes, a so called Modern Muslim who is more open minded than the rest of the Danish Muslims, and I have no respect for someone that try's to get a leg up by standing on their own community, the very same people she is claiming to help, Isolating them further is not going to help her or them.

So in conclusion, I think the compromises she has made in values (which may be due to her ideological believes) at times have and will put her at odds with the Muslim Community.

MashaAllah, you hit it on the nail.

In fact, the member who started this thread gave it 'confusing title'.

You can't be a 'Feminist, Socialist Devout Muslim'

Its an absurdity and contradiction.

Its like saying the 'GOOD THIEF' or the 'Honest Liar'

You can be a socialist feminist Muslim. Islam has a lot of feminist ideals before they were even considered feminist. And there is nothing in the Quran that warns about the "evilness" of socialism.

what about socialism in a social justice context?

now as for the article....all I can say is

WOW!

who-me

Did someone just said Church and State separation?

G! I though that only worked on Christianity and since when do they started applying that to Islam?

As far as i know this concept of church and state separation is the most hypocritical concept ever introduced by man and because one dedicates the entire 7 days of the week six of them corrupting the earth and only few hours of the seventh day gives up for worship and doing good deeds. Of course nothing is wrong with that if you are Christian because at the end of the day regardless of what you have done you are going to heaven if you stick with the J word. So you tell me how is that a possible for a devout muslim who presumably prays five time of the day and gets up for fajr every morning before going to work and perhaps recites some verses regarding the people of Lot or the dwellers of Medyan. Off to work he/she is passing laws that permit homosexuality because the party supports it and of course you can not be member of the party if you dont agree with them. Also not to forget in islam you are required to stop evil with your hands if you can and if not possible with your word and if that too is not possible leave the scene but wait here you are working with the mighty pen and doing what? passing laws. Something is wrong with that picture. Yes they are mixing lemonade with milk yes that is what they are doing or perhaps toying with our intellects.
