Muhammed Abdullah Hassan (Mad Mullah) Jihad civillian casualties

Recommended Posts

[Around a 100,000 - 150,000 died exclusively in the North mostly from starvation]

Ok id like to know the region of the region of the north which suffered the most, basically where the majority of the casualties or deaths of the war came from.

im suspecting it was mainly concentrated in the North Eastern region of Somalia and some of it in the North-west as well.

Can anyone clear this up

thanks

Somalia, Mohammed Abdulla Hasan (1899-1920) 100 000 Mad Mullah Jihad

According to the Library of Congress

this war caused the deaths of about one third of the northern Somali population.

The 1911 Britannica estimates 300,000 people in British Somaliland, so the death toll might have been something like 100-150,000.

(depending on whether the 300000 was estimated before or after the one-third had died)

By summing the battle casualties in the campaigns that are descibed in the OnWar.com essay for the 1899-1905 phase of the war, I determined that the dervishes suffered some 11,700 casualties (K+W) fighting the British, which would come to around 3,000 KIA, plus another 1,000 killed in battle with the Abyssinians. The British lost something over 200 KIA. Apparently a 100,000 1/3 of population of 300,000(mostly civillians from starvation) died.

"The Mad Mullah" was a name given by the Enemy, you know the stinky British who at the time where raping your own country. Why must you use it? Mideeda kale what does it matter?

OR is this another SL vs. whatever Crap?

Sucaado or Libah, adiga Haters lee ma af ka kasee? Uff!

To the poster, there were casualties. Thats a war for you.But the fact that you're specifically asking how "MANY" in the North and asking for what region says otherwise.

You could've googled "casualties" and gotten a better response. Now watch all the qabeelaystayaal come in and tell you "reer hebel" intaanu ka dilay and dhul hebeluu qabsaday. Let the dead be dead. Zayid Mohamed is a Somali HERO. Whatever he did is between him and ALLAH.

Wallahi, this is a mental defect! Sometimes I ask myself if some people would rather benefit from a medication than a discussion. Qabiilaa dar daray markaasay waxa ay ku hadlayaan iyo meel eey joogaan ma kala garanayaan. Hadana afar xabo oo English aa la soo baray markaasay ku wareerinaayaan.

Tuujiye , the sayyid died in 1920-1921 and that is 40 years before somaliland got independence so why didn't people became christians in that 40 year gap? your logic is nonsense sxb, there was many anti colonial men such as Haji Suudi Shabeele, Suldaan Amaan Nuur, Chief Caaqil Ismail, sheikh Bashiir, sayyid was not the only 1 so quit trying to potray him as a saint.
