Seattle (sl.no), 01 june 2008 - sarkaalka ugu sareeya ee Maraykanka u qaabilsan Arrimaha Afrika , Jendayi Frazer , ayaa sheegtay inuu Maamulka Madaxweyne George Bush ee Maraykanku doonayo inay xafiis diblomaasi ah ka furtaan Caasimada Somaliland ee Hargeysa. Sidoo kale , Frazer waxay nasiib darro ku tilmaantay inaanu midowga Afrika weli go’aan ka gaadhin qaddiyada Ictiraafka Somaliland , iyadoo xustay in taasi ay raajisay go’aankii ay dawlada Maraykanku ka gaadhi lahayd in ay Somaliland u ictiraafto qaran madax banaan. Ms Jendayi Frazer oo Khamiistii ina dhaaftay Muxaadaro loogu magac daray ‘’Mustaqbalka Afrika iyo Siyaasadda Arrimaha Dibada Maraykanka’’ ka jeedisay hoolka William H. 7. You can find Somali people who have even more than 20 brothers and sisters, whether from the same mother, or from different mothers. They have a seemingly unlimited number of habaryars, abtis, eedos, and adeers. They can tell you the name of their brother-in-law's aunt's husband. The Somali community is by far a larger network than Facebook could ever imagine ,,, so true Cadaan, does that mean you want to marry a Somali woman nothing but a Somali woman that will fufill your needs ??? There is a Canadian convert woman here in Hargeisa and she is finally married by a somali Wadaad ... she is very good Maasha Allah and have many religious activities in the city. I think you need to pay a visit to Somaliland/Somalia once and see what we have here. They all fall for the white guys but not all of them are what you wanted. You can always have a choice and pick up the one you want. In the cultural prospective, they serve men like a king but don't expect them to go for work outside the house that soon. They will need sometime to get used to the Western life if they go there. There used to be a Somali colleague from Tanzania who got married to an American convert. They both live now in Cairo. You have many options and i understand your concern that you lived in the somali society and get used to them. Good luck bro, be patient, work hard, study like a crazy and don't give a damn about those women. Once you are on the top them i'm sure you'll get lots of applications but then you have to be careful from the vimpires ....... Now that you said it here ,, then i'm sure you will have many PMs with some Hi, and where are you and so on ,,,,,,,,,,,,

  12. MOGADISHU, June 1 (Reuters) - Insurgents fired mortars at a plane that was due to take Somalia's president to Djibouti, but he was unharmed and travelled to a meeting with a U.N. security council delegation, officials and residents said on Sunday. President Abdullahi Yusuf was due to meet the delegation in Djibouti, where his interim government and opposition exiles living in Eritrea are participating in U.N.-backed peace talks. He was not due to take part in the talks, which started a day late on Sunday. "The president and delegates have left ... The Islamists failed to achieve their goal and the mortars did not damage the plane," presidential spokesman Hussein Mohamed Mohamud said. An airport staff member told Reuters the mortars were aimed at a plane arriving to take Yusuf to the talks in Djibouti. "Around five mortars landed in the airport and people ran into the concrete building," the staff member said. Militants behind near-daily ambushes and roadside bombs targeting government troops and their Ethiopian allies are the remnants of an Islamist movement that was ousted at the start of last year. The hardline opposition figures, including Islamist insurgent leaders in Somalia, say mediation efforts will go nowhere until Ethiopian troops backing the government leave. U.N. officials met the government and Islamist delegations separately, witnesses in Djibouti said. A U.N. Security Council team touring troubled spots in Africa this week plan to visit Djibouti and meet the transitional government leaders, including Yusuf. Analysts say a meaningful peace pact looks impossible given opposition divisions and the presence of Ethiopian troops in the Horn of Africa nation, which has been without central governance since the 1991 toppling of a dictator.

  17. I'll kick start this discussion by ranting about something which I find totally unacceptable. Have you seen the African dance videos on Youtube? OK, I'm no moral police, but I believe most of these new videos are made with a view to satisfying the sexual fantasies of men. The girls are made to look like tavern tarts in tribal skirts or red-light flossies in high boots, wearing two teabags and a cobweb. The artists themselves are no better; they look like pimps. Some are gabbed in full bling, in hideous costumes complete in platform heels. They prowl about contentedly gyrating with the dancers instead of singing. Their faces plastered with an idiotic and complacent smirk as they admire their "wares”. . I wonder whether content, craft and culture are now sacrificed at the alter of titillation, by a handful of mediocre artists fronting this debasement. Sometimes the girls don't even need to dance to the "real music". All they do in their see-through thongs, miniskirts and flimsy bras is fling themselves about, gyrating suggestively and shaking their tail feathers erotically in front of drooling men, who sometimes run their paws all over their bodies, or worse simulate "the act" with them. . Amongst the worst however is the cacophonic din and raw sex emanating from the Ivory Coast, which is a cause for particular concern. These are commercial and hobby-artists who have commodified the seductiveness of the African dance, repackaging it to the nadir of impropriety. . It draws me reluctantly to conclude that our young African women are being showcased as soft-porn whores disguised as dancers in music videos. How else does one explain why such obviously talented ladies are made to fling their bits and boobs about, provocatively; posing seductively? They expose ungainly flesh-lines which should have been kept firmly out of sight? How indelicate! What is behind this craze? .Everything is commoditized these days, and increasingly, it seems the package is more important than the content. Africa is no exception and the first casualty of this hardcore commercialization is the music industry, which is largely unregulated and oftentimes, left in the hands of very unscrupulous people. I've included the videos of the kind of thing I’m talking about. While I admit each to their own taste, I feel there is need for someone to speak up for these ladies who seem to be “enjoying themselves” in these videos, without a care in the world. I am not being self-righteous here, and can understand why some people might not find anything wrong with it, how about putting oneself in the place of a sister or a mother or a father of these ladies? There is something tawdry seen from the perspective of a relation. But we don’t have to be related to speak up or raise concerns about their welfare. They are playing in a dangerous world where they might not only be greatly exploited, but their lives put in danger. It is like watching a sex industry without seeing the real sex. The producers of this musical eroticism repackaged and disguised as African music and dance videos do not treat these ladies fairly. Otherwise they would have been superstars, earning decent wages. Is this not a dangerous trend which corrupts our youth, exploits and disgraces our women? What will happen to these ladies when they grow old and lose their looks and dance talents? . I find it scandalous that the real musical talents of Africa; Manu Dibango, Yondo Sister, Salif Keita, Alfa Blondy, Prince Nicho Mbarga, Tchalla Mwana, Youssouf Ndour, Ebenezar Obey, Césaria Evoria, Bright Chimezie (aka Okoro Junior) Kanda Bongo Man, Sunny Okosun, Christy Essien, Bébe Manga etc are being crowded-out by a siege of no-talent pimps. Due to sheer desperation, our best cultural export; African music is now flogged on the international market like the proverbial fallen woman. Our moral dilemma is how to stop it. The video I've included here is one of the more digestible ones of the kind of thing I'm talking about. A rather sad departure from our respectable, rich and diverse culture, something ought to be done to check it. *** By: Samira Edi
