  3. Originally posted by OLOL: Fidel, I am from xamar. Damn! Pardon me while I wipe the egg off my face. I must have misunderstood your point then. It was out of concern then that you made those statements about the south. My bad mistake. I thought you were being high and mighty. Which is not unheard of around here.
  4. Originally posted by OLOL: No wonder they are living in an oasis of peace and sanity unlike the south! Hey, quit rubbing it in! The south is down but not out. There are proportionally as many people educated in the south as there are in Somaliland. They just have more of the greedy, ignorant variety. You see the difference between you and I is that I am happy for Somalis in the north for they are rebuilding their shattered lives. However, that happiness does not come at the expense of the southeners. Grow up will you.

  6. Originally posted by Foxy-brown: they say "Once a cheater always a cheater. Is this statement true? Do you think people should be allowed one mistake" My interest is purely scientific ( ). Apparently, monogamy, while probably a good system, is not natural. Example, learning to ride a bike, not natural. Feeling hungry, natural. Mistakes and sins and all that are moral labels attached to natural actions. The authors of the book are trying to move away from that. What they're saying is whether it is good or bad (leave that to religion), infedility is a natural process by which a species ensures its survival, i.e it's natural. Monogamy, on the other hand, is a process by which societies ensure their survival, i.e. it's learned behavior and not natural. The book uses much scientific evidence to support the above. All in all, it was informative and very entertaining.

  10. I'm currently reading a fact-based book called The Myth of Monogamy. I think it's a must read for anyone interested in biology, psychology and life in general. There's a heavy emphasis on evolution so if you don't accept evolution as fact, then this wonderful book is NOT for you.

If it were up to me, I would say don't even bother to give a penny to listen to them rant and rave. This will probably be a heavily policed event. There will also be demonstrations and ruckus inside the auditorium. All in all, it will be a circus. As usual, the panel members, as wrong as they may be, will look down on the hooligans and assume the moral high ground. They will look sophisticated and well mannered while the audience medieval and ignorant. Just what the panel is trying to convey to the west. But it would be nice to see see Hirsi Ali and Manji in the same room. Hate it or love it, they are celebrities.
  13. This story that i am about to post prooves that women can be succesful and at the same time be a stay home moms!. I saw the 60 mins piece and the only thing it proves is marrying a rich man is the way to go if you want options. These women were afforded the choice to stay home by their high income generating husbands. Most other mothers have to work to make ends meet.

  16. Originally posted by Lidia: Why buy a house if you can't afford to pay for it? If you don't have the money, why get a loan? Let me shake up my sofa and see what I got. There, I have just enough in nickels and pennies to make $160,000. Thanks for the idea Lidia. You never know what you'll find hiding in the nooks and crannies of your closet!
  17. Originally posted by Zephyrine: We use 'Chip & Pin' technology here... Did you mean 'Fish & chips' by any chance? I know, not funny. In some parts of Europe, they even use cell phones to pay for stuff. That's cool. In south Texas where I live, checks live large. So I'm in line at the local grocery store. One cashier and twenty patrons. I'm number 18. This lady buys a galon of milk and a pack of cigs. Grand total: $6.05. Then she sets out to write a check. Holy Sh!t. Takes about 5 minutes to write, three minutes to verify and I'm dying of old age in line. So we are more than WAY behind. That alone shows me some men's IQ is probably lower than my bust measurements. Hmmm. Bishaaro, not much of a bust, eh?
  18. Originally posted by Jason: Of all the muslim communities in America, I noticed it is only the somalis that worry about ribba when taking out a mortgage to purchase a house. Buying a house is the cornerstone of the American dream. The largest piece of the pie and a sign you have made it. It is regarded as success and it often is a profitable investment. I don't know if Somalis are the only muslims worried about interest payments in the west but it is very difficult to live without credit in these countries. May be the best solution is to move back home and live a modest life among other muslims where housing is affordable and so on. Many of us want to live here without living here.

    This is it!

I think that if you work hard and get a good education that leads to a well paying job, you would be able to afford eating out and the services of a nanny and MollyMaid. House chores suck. Let someone do them for money. I don't care if it's a man, a woman or a sasquatch, as long as it ain't me.

  21. Coz if u have been following, everytime someone makes a remark, or speaks their mind, they change the whole topic into topic of male hunting It has been said that women at the height of fertility have been found to wear tighter clothing and expose more skin. It is not too far fetched that this may be a case of showing a side of a person others may show interest in. As the original poster, Hibo, you made a note of doing something for yourself and "no impressing of man". That's where the man thing comes into the whole thread. Obviously, if one is single, all that work before sleeping is for one self. If you do have a partner, however, it's for you and your partner. Maybe it's your way of telling him he stinks and ought to shower everynight. May be it is you who has the over-developed sweat glands that must disinfect hourly. Overall, I found the thread to be original, interesting and funny. What more can a reader ask for? To the disinfection I go......
  22. Ok; would you rather someone who knows how-to teach you, or try to learn it by yourself (personal how-to)? Haddad, I'm not sure your analogy is appropriate here. Try again!
  23. I have to say, I find Arab 'controversial' writers (Fatima Mernissi, Laila Ahmed, Ziauddin Sardar) most fascinating. Its like you can almost feel the chains of societal decorum breaking around them as you read their words. Indeed. What I like about such writers as well is how they show (our) eastern cultures and how what is done publicly is not often a reflection of what's done privately. I'll look for the book as as soon as I finish reading The Myth of Monogamy and rereading The Art of War.
  24. Heh, thats how it gets done in the Bada Bing club yea? Tell me this, will serving bufallo wings naked have him on his knees, begging me to allow him to kiss my feet? You have my word!
