  2. Yea sis, pls visit those sites Mujahid provided. It's a first to me as well, moon people??? Cajiib. The disbelievers will never ran out of ideas to bash Muslims and Islam. Remember that. Also, no question is silly, so ask away am sure there are many brothers n' sisters here to assist you
  3. Saudis never cared about those muslim charity groups to begin with, hell they don't even care about the non-Saudi muslims that live in their soil. They get treated like second class citizens while the Westerns are treated with so much respect...enough to make u sick!. But as far as they're concerned I was never born there , otherwise I woulda had my citizenship!
  4. That was beautiful Ilhaam. Innocent, thanks for the quotation....that's so true. Faith is fundamental to our survival.
  5. LST , Shukran brother for making it clear the classifications of makruh.....I did'nt take into account how detailed and deep the fiqh is. Jazakallah. Sister Rahima, you too!! Jazakallah and may your efforts to help us understand the deen be rewarded.
  6. ............In the middle of reading......so far...Subhanallah!!! Jazakalah Ameenah. I'll try to comment later. W'salaam. p.s. Masha allah, I'm noticing the Islam section is lively nowadays. Keep pouring these articles/discussions guys, I don't know about y'all but I need it!!! Food for the spirit~
  7. Ohh shoot, Malaika it was suppose to be a suprise. Forgot u were here!! Finally eh! You best welcome me (the red carpet n' the works) or else!...its ma turn now Later.
  8. Sometimes I think I take it for granted how easy wearing hijaab is for me. If I didn't start so young, it would've been quite challenging today Subhanallah. Thnkz for the article Ilhaam!! Muah.
  9. Sistah Lateafah, I once heard a scholar answer this q, and he said that it's considered a makruh, but its not HARAM. What is the exact meaning of "makruh"? What are the consequences of doing something that is makruh? "Makruh" literally means something "disliked" or "undesirable". According to the Shari'ah it is any action that one is told not to do without making it an absolute prohibition. It is important to avoid doing the makruh. There is no sin in it and no punishment if a person commits the Makruh, but it is blameworthy. Those who want to be pious and conscious of Allah should avoid doing any action that is Makruh. An example of Makruh is cigarette smoking or chewing tobacco. It is better to avoid these things, although they are not forbidden. Khayr, I really liked the way you explained the situation and I couldn't have said it any better. You've stressed enough that we should note the difference btwn makruh n' what's deemed as haram. Personally, I feel that married couples should be aware of what's haram during intimacy(its' not many!) and whaterever rocks their boat it's up to them to decide. Only ma 2 shilings. p.s. I thought this topic was brought up last year, I tried to search but it didn't come up.
  10. Mekkah. N' Alhamdulilah I had the pleasure of visiting at age 10. Peace.

  12. Assalamu Alaikum, Lakkad, that's how I feel too. I've been a member here for a lil more than a year, N' I'm blessed to know some incredible nomads. When I first read the thread, my heart raced walaahi and I'm saddened by the fact that we lost brother Maxamed. My heart goes out to his family and to the nomads who had the pleasure of knowing him..namely LST and Instinct poet. I sometimes feel sad coming here knowing that a Nomad that use to post and debate with us has passed away. Me too! Let's continue our prayers for our dear brother, may Allah grant him paradise and be remembered for his contribution in this dunya, amiin.
  13. Inaa-Lilahi wa inaa ilayhi raajicuun ....My prayers are with his family. I'm very sorry to hear this news.
  14. *Just seen the sneak preview* OH yea, the fight scenes have certainly evolved!!! It's exciting. I'd give it a **** out of 5 Tip: Most people don't know this but if you want to see the preview to Matrix Revolution (3), stick around till the END......I mean all the way to the end after credits In the meantime, I'll keep my comments to myself .....you have a week!!lol.
  15. Prez, wow!! That was nice of the Admin. You happy now? Congrats to you too. Wish I could claim another username....
  16. Hibo, abaayo waa ka helay ur SWOT list!! good 1. Qaxooti Mami, well said. Excellent questions you've posed there. I don't wanna sound redundant, so I picked mami as my spokesperson. Anyway, not too long ago I had a lil chit chat with a Somali man who's pursuing a phD and recently got himself a wifey from back home. He voluntarily told me that he couldn't marry a woman from qurbaha, cuz they're too intimidating!!!! bisinka, a grown man saying that? Is it cuz they got their priorities in check and know what they want in a future mate....? I'm not making this up walaahi.... Khayr, personally it doesn't effect me. If you can't handle an educated, independant, religious sista like me, than you better step aside!!! LOL. Seriously though, i've been noticing the growing trend...... Brothas keep posting, don't mind knowing the reasons behind this.
  17. MiZZ, I love Imam Siraj Wahaj!!!!I had the pleasure of visiting Masjid Taqwa, and a major convention that he hosted in NYC years ago.....never seen that many muslims in one place b4. Imaamka is a comedian walaahi....he has a way of enlightening his audience and you'll leave with a lil bit more knowledge than u came with. We had a full house last year at our Eid dinner in my school, boy did I feel lucky . I don't think I've ever missed a lecture of his in t.o.....as you can see am a HUGE fan. Wa'salaam.
  18. Congrats Guyz!!! I Tremendously enjoy reading your posts, just don't mysteriously disappear on us. A warning will do. To all the other nomads, you still have a chance to beat their record. I kinda thought SOL prez was goin to have higher posts...hmmmmm...what happened sxb?

  20. ~Wooohooooo~ * A STANDING OVATION* tissues..any1? That was beautiful SOS, I can soo relate to what u were tryin to convey. May you post 1000 more .....amiin.
  21. I cannot help but be impressed by the increasing trend of somali men COOKING, somewhat exceptional. Hmmmmm. Waa la ilbaxay!! I think you're forced to b'coz of the times we live, come on you know what am talking about. In the 21st century, for a man to impress a lady he must display an array of talents, cooking being one. Cooking for a special some1 is considered extremely romantic. "Fo ten years now I have made ma own meals " Shaqsii, 10 yrs.there you go!!! I've only been cooking for my self few years now so let me develop my own cooking style!!! I've just passed the stage of eating macaroni n' cheese for dinner. So plz don't underestimate the cooking power of ladies, we're just too busy at the moment trying to take over the world. Lucky, I know eh cooking books come with very easy-to-follow instruction......I remember a book by the title "Cooking for dummies: special edition for men!!"
  22. pheeewww!!! am relieved to hear that SOS. Much appreciation for the update. See you in 2 weeks. BTW, girl I noticed you've got 998 posts, I bet today will be ur 1000th. Whoa~~~~ Congrats you SOL addict. The trick will be how to assemble 1000 candles in a cake......
  23. ***almost fell off my chair.....laughing like a mad woman @ 1 in da morning***
  24. I'm a grown woman ....Can some1 convince my mom to let me go to Toronto?!!!! semester's over, I'm bored and Toronto is right around the corner. Damn you SARS. Oh well On a serious note, there was a point where I was worried for family, friends, including some of you nomads!!! I hope this thing dies down soon.
  25. Personally, I doubt it. As for your latest question, I would have to agree with Ruba. Waa nasiib. You can't get everything you desire in this world. A woman knows her priorities if she believes that she can't achieve her goals with a family, then that's the decision she'll have to live with. I think everything in this world requires an effort. Therefore upon graduation if she decides she 110% ready it's another challege finding the right mate. Some sisters can balance family and school, I say more power to ya. As for me, Allahu Aclam (God knows) Hey Darman, don't get paroid on me I aint stalking your posts today I just happen to run into many of them today. Hmmm..u plan on taking a vacation anytime soon? kidding!!!!
