  1. baashi, brathar yaa ku dhahay company stock ku wada investi garee waxaad aduun xilo iyo xoola lahayd! well, you can use a variety of bonds, company stock, mutual funds, money market. so unlike enron employees who were all invested in enron company stocks, you would be invested in fixed income securities , annuities and some stocks. koolkaat, you are right , finishing school is NUMERO UNO!!
  2. given the weak military of iraq, how could saddam co-ordinate a defense plan that would cause maximum casualty for the invading forces, and raise the price of war beyond their expectations?
  3. alright MA KOOL CAT. are we afraid of failure? to be frank, only those that take risks in life are rewarded. in fact many business ventures do fail, but are you gona step on the side and see others taking risks and succeeding. i know some folks that took such risks by opening small businesses in somali market and reaping rewards. as for financial success, i know that even my manager who makes ...uper 80s doesnt have more than three months of emergency funds in money market. the rest of his money is working slowly at nowadays, but nevertheless great overall. employee matched 401k contribution is a good start. then there are other engines. we , somalis are known to have a burning enterpreneurial spritit that even puts to shame the indians who monopolized east africa for decades. take a risk, couple of income tax returns(in USA,NOT CHEAP EUROPE) could do wonders!!!

  7. Let me clear one thing: the aim of education is not to reach financial success, but rather for personal development and practical trades. this is to expand your knowledge and values and teach you problem solving(to empower your society). as for money creation, all you need is 1)learn the mechanism of wealth creation 2)then invest for the long run. 401k, a mixture of stocks(30%) and Bond and mutual funds(70%). real state is also good. there is no need to collect a large sum of money to invest, but rather a steady plan of contribution is the key. there are islamic funds both in bonds ,and stocks. if one is really interested, then www.islam.org is the starting place. i invest in hizbollah since iam the president of hizbolah- xassan Nasra Allah!. one other attractive vehicle for somalis is investing in remittances(xawaaladaha). i talk to one gentleman(wadaad) that has a share in one and he told me $5000 minimum for 15% return. you can't beat that anywhere.

  9. bari_nomad, there was never a single bullet fired between the cusmaan maxamuud kingdom and the italians. infact there was a strong freindship between the two. as for slavery, i don't think that we participated it. as for the italians abolishing it, not at all. they were the ones using the bantus in kali asaay , janaale to cross rivers. the italians, being the gypsies of europe are very racist. to the dude that posted the main thread, well, you have a very interesting article indeed.
  10. actualy $250000 is more like it for DBYA BUSH. as for mooryaan qaasim, he has couple of hundered thousand dollars. for siyaad bare, he had all the nation's budget at his disposal!! and that was Corruption with Capital C.
  11. Wadani, bull's eye man. No single capital City. a loose federal system ,with each region having a capital city. the federal capital should be moved every five years or so to spread the development. no more xamar as it used to be, and i don't think it will ever be that way, because we have all become wise enough to invest in our respective regions we are from. this is good for the country economically, politically and socially.
  12. Following this discussion, i can sense that gediid hails from waqooyi galbeed. we , as somalis are hopeless when we reject or accept arguments on the basis of our qabiil! its indeed sad. as for me, fighting gaalo has greater magnitude and importance than, and any claims against Sayid for having killed those who sided with the gaalo, by becoming spies, translators or guides. Allah know the best.
