  4. Ethiopia hands over security of Somalia Tuesday, January 13, 2009 MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — The Ethiopian troop commander in Somalia has handed over security of the country to a Somali joint force including government security officials and Islamic militiamen. The soldiers are leaving Somalia in stages and it is unclear when all of the thousands deployed will have departed. Ethiopian Col. Gabre Yohannes Abate relinquished control of security at a ceremony Tuesday. Ethiopia has been propping up neighboring Somalia's weak government for two years, but recently said it would end its unpopular presence, without giving an exact date because of fears of a power vacuum. The Somali joint force taking control is part of a power-sharing deal between the government and some Islamists reached last year. SOURCE: AP, Tuesday, January 13, 2009
  5. Norf...Caleyntii muu lasoo daahe? Cl Jee keysaa jal rahaahey.
  6. ^Legitimized by the elites of Hargeysa, I'm sure average Somali in the north would wanna get a piece of Riyaale...You gotta love it from notorioys NSS operative to a president.
  7. ^Leave granpa alone. He didn't get steady diet of suffering reer Mogadisho lately.
  8. Faarax-Riyaale's crimes were legitimized, and hence him being catapulted to the highest office in Waqooyi Galbeed.
  9. NinBrown..The only people flip flopping are caadal qatayaal like Xaabsade, of course it is not out of personal convictions. He doesn't represent the average person on SSC who wants to stay with Somalia, and are loyal to the Puntland. The overwhelming majority in Sool and Sanaag for Somalia, but there is reason people feel secluded from the power equation, and this is not just limited to reer Sool/Cayn and Sanaag. Let's address that instead of saying, people are flip floppers or our cousins can join whoever. Of course, I'm not saying deliver the presidency to reer Sanaag and Sool on silver platter, but there should be system that give all Puntlanders a fair shot, cuz the way things are set right now only favors few people and old guard when it comes to elections. And this is for all people. It wouldn't make sense for state , any state to hold onto as many as citizens and as many territories it could possible can. You would think Puntland would have firm grip on its western provinces. There is no existing Puntland bureaucracy anywhere in Sool and Sanaag. No sign this land is actually part of Puntland, and no effort by those in Garowe properly incorporate the region into the rest Puntland where there could be free flow of commerce and people without any fear or hindrance from secessionists or without room for flip flippers to maneuver. The only thing left for Sool/Sanaag was fair chance at the top job, and that's reserved for unqualified selected few.
  10. ^What you rather have them fight each other for it?
  11. ^Do you see any need for reform or you are happy with status quo?
  12. ^So, SSC should be grateful cuz they could contest an election? Ibti-I know what he said
  13. ^He didn't jump the ship-just emphasizing the need for reforms in order to preserve Puntland. Parliament members are being bought and sold for votes like Dr.Saleebaan Ciise Axmed said. And I'm addressed the issues of those jumping the ship instead fighting for change.
  14. Xaglotoosiye ..A promising guy, like his bit about Xildhibaanada..I don't know if people are ready for a guy like him...very blunt!
  15. Abu-Who doesn't call Pakistanis Paki. How is it even an insult. Even in Pakistan we used to call Pakistanis Pakis, and yes not their behind backs. Anyway, the poor kid gets the wrong end of the stick. Gets in trouble for what regular get away with everyday. It stinks to be royal.

Norf...I wasn't talking about if charter schools are better than public schools-just talking to his assertion that these schools promote isolationism, something one would know is not entirely true have they have any insight into this. And on average, charter schools are better than public schools-catholic schools, Jewish schools, Islamic schools, and other private institutions produce more collage graduates per school than public schools. It is controlled environment where children can be taught, and parents are demanded to be involved in their children's education. The most isolated communities in America are those in the ghettos. Economic isolationism is bigger problem in America.
  17. Poor kid-it stinks to have your life under the microscope.Let kid be himself.
  18. ^You have little insight about life in America beyond TV shows and holidays visits?
  19. MINNEAPOLIS — Fartun Warsame, a Somalian immigrant, thought she was being a good mother when she transferred her five boys to a top elementary school in an affluent Minneapolis suburb. Besides its academic advantages, the school was close to her job as an ultrasound technician, so if the teachers called, she could get there right away. “Immediately they changed,” Ms. Warsame said of her sons. “They wanted to wear shorts. They’d say, ‘Buy me this.’ I said, ‘Where did you guys get this idea you can control me?’ ” Her sons informed her that this was the way things were in America. But not in this Somali mother’s house. She soon moved them back to the city, to the International Elementary School, a charter school of about 560 pupils in downtown Minneapolis founded by leaders of the city’s large East African community. The extra commuting time was worth the return to the old order: five well-behaved sons, and one all-powerful mother. Charter schools, which are publicly financed but independently run, were conceived as a way to improve academic performance. But for immigrant families, they have also become havens where their children are shielded from the American youth culture that pervades large district schools. web page slideshow
  20. ^Welcome...Just be yourself.
  21. ^It is the injustices of it, Saaxib. Sool and Sanaag afforded men and material to Yeey's misadventures and to the well being of the Puntland, and this mockery is how they repaid, and worse one wants to address the political inequaty.
