OG-Man.......I understand your point...but yu didn't have to dehumanize the other races.After all we are in the same human race.....Personally i would only settle for somali woman simply coz i want the continuation of my culture and the existance of my people as distinct group in this world. Allah made us(humans) into tribes and nations so we could recognize each other and tell one from the other. Wanting your nation to continue to survive is not racism. Bu what's qualifies as racism is praising ourselves at the expense of others. We don't have to put down others to make ourselves look good. Thats racism. Period. So we be clear, i think everyone has the right to marry into any culture of their liking.

Haniif.....Qabiil is in the very fabric of our society.Lets be honest, Somalia belongs to the ethnic somali nomadic tribes(Isaaqs, daroods, and Hawiyes) and the Rahanweyns somalis who finally stoop up on their feet to establish themselves as prominent somali tribe. Everyone else is client or victim of the crazy nomads. The nomads don't think much of what the smaller tribes like midhibaan and other minoroties want.
This is specially true in the south where minorties are violated everyday and their lands taken away by the nomads. The southern somalia is most diverse part of somalia in terms ethnically and culturally.Nomads are however somalinazing the place , a process that started with Barre.If order returns to the land, who do yu think is gonna run the country. It certaintly won't be any midgaan, Barawane, or bantu.
We somalis lack a sense of nationhood. Our loyalists lies with the clans not the nation or the state.

The mistakes of the past shouldn't be repeated.
We don't wanna live in city state again. The most sacred thing in Somalia is the human life which is violated everyday in mogadisho. The somali unity, flag, and mogadisho are secondary things and come in distance second. Mogadisho was fine town ,but i think it has out-lived its purpose. Moving the capital to the north should be avioded too since the north is less ethnically and culturally diverse. I think towns like merca and Baraawe can be replace mogadisho as somali's political center. These towns are ideal since they are along the coastline, away from Ethopia, and diverse to an extent. The rights of the native people should however be protected. I see in the future as economic powerhouse competing with Kismayo, Hargeise and Boosaaso. I luv my hometown but i think its days as somali's political center is over.

The somali culture and language is one of the few ones that use the same terms when a parent is calling his child or vice-verse.A somali mother would say Hooyo when talking or calling to her her kids.
The same goes for the father(aabe), the uncles( adeer, Abti),the aunts( eedo, habaryar) n the grandparents( Ayeeyo n Awoowe.
I never asked this myself but iam wondering why our Hooyos call us Hooyo when they wanna our attention. How could the same word be used by the parents and their offsprings?

It is just some ppl go to the extremes....maybe i had one too many encounters with ppl who are less considerate of others around them. The last time ppl with cell fones ruined my day was at Hoytes Ciname, I came to watch a movie. Bunch of Afro-Americans boys who were sitting in the front rows talking on the fone with speaker on, this went on through the previews, to the begining of the movie and i finally the theatre ppl had to call the Sheriff to remove them since they wouldn't get off da cell.now dats bad!

Women opposed to the war with Iraq have been urged to withhold sexual favours from their partners if the menfolk are pro-war.
On Monday thousands of actresses all over the world are taking part in a reading of the ancient Greek play Lysistrata, as part of a protest against the war.
In the play, penned by Aristophanes in 415BC, a group of Greek women, fed up with their warmongering husbands, go on a sex strike in a bid to end the endless conflicts.
Eventually the menfolk cave in and agree to a truce.
The Danish group have taken the interpretation quite literally and are encouraging women to slap on their chastity belts if their men are pro-war.
Bawdy play
The Lysistrata Project is planning around a thousand readings of Aristophanes' bawdy play in 56 countries.
Readings will raise money for charities working for peace and humanitarian aid in the Middle East and elsewhere.
In Denmark several of the country's leading actresses are at the forefront of the protest.
Actress Anne-Marie Helger told BBC News Online: "Mrs Blair, Mrs Bush and (the wife of the Danish PM) Mrs Rasmussen should stay out of their husbands' beds until they call their dogs off."

Some of Denmark's most famous TV and stage actresses, including Andrea Vagn Jensen, Lone Hertz, Lykke Nielsen and Trine Appel, are staging a production on Monday night of Aristophanes' Greek comedy Lysistrata.
Worldwide protest
Rhea Leman, an American theatre director who is directing Monday's play in Christianhavn near Copenhagen, said: "Basically we are saying No Peace, No Sex."
Ms Leman told BBC News Online: "The essence of the play is that if men go to war women should not go to bed with them. Until these men stop the war they will not get any sex."
She said: "What makes the play a comedy is that it is as hard for the women to go without sex as it is for the men. But they stick the strike out as a matter of principle."
Mark Greene, one of the world co-ordinators of the Lysistrata Project, said: "Each country and each group of performers is free to interpret the play in different ways.
"This is the first time I have heard of anyone actually suggesting a sex boycott, but then that's how these things start.
"We are limiting our advice on a sex boycott to the First Lady and Mrs Hussein (sic)," he quipped.

Cushtic Cutue n Sol Prez...I agree with you...Cell fones are useful but there should be free cell fone zones , libararies , ciname halls should be at top of free cell fone zone list..Ppl also used cell fones even though there is no need for it at times. One time , i was on a visit in another town.We were gonna head to somebody's house, and dis guy who was with a friend of mine, called the ppl we were meeting. He called agian to let them to know we were in the car driving to their house. N he called for third time to let them know that we were at their doorstep.Now i call dat insane!

N yeah, Fone signals can be picked from air.The National Security Agency "NSA" of US Defense Dep does that kind of monitoring, picking up fone signal from foriegn leaders, orginazation, and wat have yu. I don't know if yu guys remember but while back, two radio DJs from Vegas picked a signal from Hugo Chavez, the president of Venezuila who trying to call Fidel Castro. They have recorded the conversation, n yu could hear the Chavez all confused thinking what happened to Castro.

Ok...I like modern technology and how eases our life but sometimes people don't know when it is appropiate to use technology.This is particulary true when it comes to cell fones.I don't have problem when ppl talk on cell fones in subways, buses, etc.I don't have even a problem when ppl speak so load as if i wanna know what they are talking about. What bothers however is ppl talking on their cell fones in places where it suppose to be quite and peaceful like libraries, cinema halls,etc, and sometimes even class rooms.This may sound harsh but people using cells should wear a phone boat over their heads?. It really gets annoying on many occasions to see inconsiderate person talking loadly all day on a cell, and what's even worse,they could be talking about NOTHING!

Pure-somali....Cool down bro, i don't think anyone here condones what happens in somalia. We all know it is racism.
To all people....i think each one of us has made his/her point. What goes in our society is very un-islamic and very racist. We can take forever point out the ills of somalis. I think this topic will be more useful if we talk about the ways we could reform our society and correct the wrongs of the past.There is no point repeating agian and agian how bad we somalis are?....Iam certian everyone is already well aware of that?...maybe we should move to the next level and exchange views on how we could tackle the problems of racism in Somalia.
Aishah.....If the man is muslim somali and you love him, you have every right to marry him regardless of what your family says. As somali male from a so called pure tribes, i don't hesistate a second to marry a beautiful somali sister who happens midgaan.As long as we click and respect each other, everything else is secondary.
