  1. I do have to agree with both ya'll sista's that 50 cent is overplayed. He's everywhere now. And the G-Unit is outta hand like u said. No wonder why it's called Gorilla-Unit, Him and his crew look like gorilla's. But he still cool puttin' down fo Queenz!! I do have to disagree with u simplicity. Like I said everyone hates on Beyonce. She's got the looks and voice. Not that I'm hatin' on Ashanti (I got her album too, and it's good) but she came in this came with the help of MURDER INC. Beyonce got up there in the game by herself. That's talent. Oh and too add on to Em, I like how he sings but not what he sings about. There's some songs that he sings about and everyone feels the same but he can only say but there's some songs that just make me sick. Like the song about his Mother. How sad.
  2. OMG...And I actually though he was such a talented rapper. And having to grow up in the same neighborhood. OMG I just can't believe he rapped about that. Let me just say without cursing, that I'm not one of his fans anymore. OMG I still can't believe it.As u can see I'm really pissed off.!!!
  3. What's up ya'll. I just wanted to know what ya'll thouhgt about this competition between these talented singers. Let me started it off. I personally think that Beyonce is better than Ahsanti. But Ashanti is doing her thing and people be hatin' on Beyonce, but ya'll know that girl can sing. check her out on her new cd..it's real nice..http://www.beyonce-online.net/ The whole Shady/Aftermath battle is obviously easy. Everyone knows htat 50 cnet and Eminem are talented. Ja and Gotti are fake .That's what I think. It's kind of sad to see two people form the same area (Queens, NY) battling. So what ya'll think?
  4. Oh I understand that it doesn't degrade Islam but he didn't have to use the Quran (even if he needs it to ryhme). Not only that song is Islam misinterpreated but there are other songs that do the same thing.
  5. AngelEyes, I felt like that too. But there always like that. It seems that there's more guys at events than women, but normally it seems as though there's more women than men in Minnesoda! But that's good that u still managed to have fun.
  6. Oh, I feel so bad that I'm gonna miss this for Wisconsin. And I've never been to one of these things. Well maybe next time. Just make me a promise Minnesodans..have fun. Peace!
  7. Oh that was tight. I love seeing my people coming together like that. I little too many Mexican's though..but u know how Lake Street is.lol. Especially Bloomington up to Chicago. The party they had at the gym in Cedar was nice. Except the fight. If u were there u know what I'm talking about. But both places put on a good show.
  8. I do agree with u Northerner that they are very educated rappers. They don't talk about the same things as other rappers. So far what people have been saying is that it's wrong and should not be listened to, and some say do whatever they like and don't worry about what they say. Aight i'll take those both as the answers. I had another question that is somewhat related to that. What if a singer that u really enjoy his/her music is degrading Islam? I had this conversation with a friend and I think it's just wrong. As an example I had the song from 50 Cent to back me up. I really like him as a rapper, but I just heard a song he did in his 1st CD and his 2nd one. It's called Ghetto Quran..Pt.1 and the original version. So should a I just stop listening to him? ~ That first verse is just a dose of the shit that I'm on/Consider this the first chapter in the ghetto's Quran/I know a lot of niggas that get dough like Remmy and Joe/And Prince and Rightous from Hillside with the mole on his nose---Ghetto's Quran Pt.1.
  9. I actually celebrate 4th of July not 'cause that I'm born here but for the fireworks. I'm going to Wisconsin(WI Dells). But the best thing about this holiday is that I get two days off work.whoa!!!
  10. I understand Somealien u were talking about me. OG_Moti u can try checking out the website Somealien provides. He's really a good singer. I check that website out myself and there's a whole section tilted.."Mos and Islam". Which in he talks about Islam and how he incorporates it in his songs. Mizz_Unique I checked Talib's lyrics and he doesn't say anything about Allah.
  11. Somealien nobody was pointing any fingers and no one was disapproving of what they do  . Really I don't care about what they do with their lives. Northerern if u listen to Mos Def's cd's u can see that he doesn't rap like other rappers. He's very clean in his songs and he says that he doesn't rap like other's because of the obligations his religion is entilited to. And I respect.
  12. I just finished reading the book. I can't believe u told everyone who dies. I think this was probably the best book so far. I mean the best book ever. J.K Rowling is a genius. I suggest that everyone should read it. If I ever give any advice or recommendation in this forum I hope ya'll listen to this one.peace
  13. So is it okay to rap about that stuff and still claim Islam? I knew that Mos Def was Muslim. I was sure that Talbi was Muslim. I guess I was wrong. Flying_Still here's a website about Freeway.. http://www.rocafella.com/freeway.htm Sorry Opinionated I have to disagree. I think that Freeway is a good rapper, but fo shoo he ain't better than Mos Def. All I know is that Freeway is a born Sunni Muslim. There's a really good song called "Joy" it features Mos Def and Talib. I just saw that they actually sing together in an album called "Black Star". But I still don't know whether Talib is Muslim or not. If u check out the website Somealien gives us u can see at the bottom of every page the Palestine flag appears. "This once in a lifetime like a Halley's comet/ Yo, we bring it to Medina like the Prophet Mohammed/ Peace be upon he, and, we MCs" -Fortified Live (Mos Def)
  14. U also missed..... Selma Hayek-Actress Casey Kasem-Music industry Shannon Elizabeth-Actress (American Pie) Tony Shalhoub-Actor ("monk")
  15. I was just wondering if it's okay to claim that ur Muslim and still sing about sex, money and fortune? I brought this up because as some of u know rapper freeway of R-O-C says he Muslim. But did ya'll hear his album. He's a good rapper he even drops some stuff about Islam. So I was just wondering if u can do that. Here is an article I found on Rolling Stone. Freeway of Love ~~Torn between Islam and loads of cash, the Philly rapper chose both By Jake Bronstein In the high-stakes world of album sales, a gimmick can quickly turn an artist into a brand name. So anything one can do to separate himself from the pack is a good idea. Hammer had his low-slung diaper pants. Marilyn Manson has his contacts. And Ms. Dolly was outfitted with those monster hogans. Success proved inevitable. Freeway's choice, at first, seems equally outlandish. But, in fact, the beard he wears is essential to the North Philadelphia rapper's religious beliefs. And though this facial hair has become the twenty-four-year-old's trademark, Freeway, born Leslie Pridgen, swears it was never the plan. "People might say it's a fashion statement, call it a 'Freeway beard,' but it's not like that at all," he says, while running a comb through the downy tuft. "I was raised a Sunni Muslim. We let our beards grow to please God. It's just the way I was brought up." A glance inside his hotel bathroom suggests otherwise. Sure, a simple array of hair-care products, including a purple squeeze tube of Frizz-Ease, isn't much to get worked up about, but seeing as Freeway is bald underneath his ski hat, one can only assume the entire lot of beauty aids is for the Honest Abe thatch. But contradiction is integral to this rapper's success. Though a devout Muslim, Freeway writes about the streets where he once sold drugs and the guns he now carries to protect himself. "Islam has nothing to do with rap music," he says when asked about the incongruity. "You can't mix the two. But it's like if a Muslim worked in a supermarket that sells pork -- you're not supposed to sell pork, but you've got to be able to provide for your family. That's the struggle that I go through inside myself." A young Freeway honed his rhymes in the lunchroom at Kensington High School in North Philadelphia. He began showcasing those skills at Club Dances, a grimy nightclub known for its underground MC battles and hip-hop scene. There he teamed up with another unknown, Beanie Sigel -- the night they met, the two made a pact: Whoever was signed first would pave the way for the other. When hip-hop artist-mogul Jay-Z brought Sigel to Roc-A-Fella Records, Sigel, true to his word, brought the young Freeway along. (Jay-Z was so impressed with the MC, he told listeners of Funkmaster Flex's Hot 97 radio show in New York that he'd match money with anyone willing to make a wager on Freeway's rapping skills should they be foolish enough to want to battle him. Of course, nobody was.) An onslaught of guest appearances solidified his place among Sigel's State Property clique. Then Freeway became a hip-hop cliche. He was arrested for drug trafficking (possession with intent to deliver) and had two newborn babies to support. But during his six-month stint in the joint, Freeway rebounded. And with the support of Roc-A-Fella, he got his shit wired tight. And quickly. "This is my shot," he says. "I'm not ever going to go out like that again. 'Cause you never know what's around the corner. Sitting in a jail cell, I never dreamed Rolling Stone would be calling one day." And in a show of gratitude, Freeway's crew looks out over the bouncing crowd at a club in Charleston, North Carolina, and asks Rolling Stone which of the large-rumped lovelies it would like to keep company with for the evening. Suddenly, the voice of Freeway onstage brings everyone to a respectful hush. His speaking voice, a soft rasp, comes out barely at whisper levels, giving the impression of a shy young man buying condoms. But when it's time to go to work, he transforms it into half-horse, half-dog-bark, shouting slogans such as "Holler at your boy" and "1-900 Hustler." "I never really thought nothing of my voice," he says, "not until I was trying to get signed, and people started saying I couldn't do it -- because my voice is ****ed up. But the same thing people be hating on, people be loving on, too." His debut record, Philadelphia Freeway, the latest victory to come from Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella stable, is all the proof Freeway needs. And after the show, rock-hard thugs grin from ear to ear, blushing as they ask for Freeway's autograph -- before scurrying off like little girls. Tonight, the haters are nowhere to be seen.
  16. Sis I know this is a question for the fellaz but I just had to say something about ur friend that u had this conversation with. I can't believe someone even thought that way  .It's actually not weird to hear that 'cause I know this guy back in high school and he would talk about the same thing and have the same views. It doesn't matter how close ur relationship is with ur gurl is that still doesn't give u the options. Ur religion should come first. That guy needs to be taught a lesson, but i'm sure u let him have it. I do agree, death before dishonour. But I also believe Deen before pleasure. But this was a good topic. Peace
  17. Don't worry about it Xayat. Inshallah you'll come out even better then when u went in. Just pray to Allah and I'll for sure pray for u. Godd Luck. Peace.
  18. That's a good question. Um I would have to say if he was trying to hook up wit another female. That would just make the whole situation compelety different. Another thing could be if he's dependent on his mama. He needs to be independent.
  19. Thnx I'll sure try to come just try to give me more informaion. Peace.
  20. This wasn't the whole committee. It was just me. I was thinking maybe there are some graduates in the forum, so I wanted to congratulated them. And they just graduated two weeks ago. It wasn't that far.
  21. What's up ya'll. I know that this is probably too late to congratulate some of the graduates Class of 2003. So congratulations. I especially wanna congratulate the students of Minneapolis. I'm in committee with the University of Minneasota and other colleges in Minnesota intitled MSSU, and we put together some pictures of graduates in Minneapolis. So CONGRATULATIONS once again. http://www.mssu.net/photogallery/Graduation_Pictures.htm
  22. Ilhaam all I see is 7 faces. I'm really bad at this, I'm just not the type of person to focus. I'm those people when I look at a picture without knowing what I'm looking for, that's why Darman's first pic of the baby was so hard. But that's all I can find.
  23. Thnx sista. That was nice of u to share that with the fellas in here. I really do agree with being humorous and looking good(especially smelling good). As 50 cent said "If I didn't smell so good would u still hug me?" hell no. So that was a major point to point out.
  24. Hey! I'm kinda disappointed that some people are hating on Minnesoda. Especially when u ain't neva been' herrrre. This is the best state in the Midwest. Yo hearrrd. I'm also disappointed that some of my fellow nomads din't include St.Paul, but that's okay. Of course Mpls is somali populated. But so is McKnight.(y'all Minnsodans know what i;m talking about). So here's some pics of St.Paul. Hope ya'll enjoy it. http://www.phototour.minneapolis.mn.us/st.paul6.html The only thing I don't like about downtown St.Paul is that all the buildings look like churches. Here's a really good website for St.paul. http://www.ci.stpaul.mn.us/
  25. Asalymu Alykuim- Thank u brother. That was speaking the truth. It was on point. Too bad Americans and other powerful countries can't see this because of the governments way of hiding it. It's all of about the propaganda station. If the Governments says that their not hiding anythning, then ever house should have a station like Al-Jazera. But thanks alot again.
