  1. Salam Alaykum, OG_Girl,dont take this in the wrong way. Nobody mentionned that all somalis were werewolves , but you need to be realistic , there are some rapists outhere and you have to be careful no matter what.Just because your father and grandfather are somalis and nice ,it doesnt mean that all somali men will be like them.Again be careful. As for the mothers of rapists you seem to hate, why put the blame on them? I dont think any mom wished to have a son who would rape girls, any mother wants to give birth to a tender, loving caring son.But certain things are calaaf ,you wont know how your son will turn out but you can educate him the best way possible and live it to the future.

    Would you?

Salam Alaykum, Zarinaz ,you exactly think like me ,If I had to tell a guy a guy what I felt and if there was a possible "we" , I would have involved my parents in the process.Because to me ,following Allah's guidelines are far more important than following Shaytaan. If you hear that the brotha is nice and follows his deen ,you shouldnt be afraid to talk to him.Because if you know that he is respectful , you're almost sure that he wont see you as a slut.Always inquire first ,thats very important. As for Nin-Yaaban,your posts always pop my eyes out,but for once ,I have to agree with you. There are some guyz who will see you as a slut and because of this, girls, often dont initiate the dating process. As I said before, inquire first,so you wouldnt be surprised after.

    Would you?

Salam Alaykum, I think women should initiate the dating process for a change, that would make things easy for the brothas ,lol. We, women have been raised to give some hints and let the guyz do the first move. We should do the opposite. I think its hard for both women and men to initiate the dating because of the fear of being rejected. But,if guyz can swallow their pride and take some risks why not the girls?
  4. Salam Alaykum, Truly_Blessed, its always nice to read your posts.Back to the topic: - Remember Allah throughout your happiest and saddest moments. -Read the quran and if you cant do it alone ,read it with a group of friends. -Go to halaqas, you can always learn something new there. -If you are afraid of backbiting , count 10 times or more ,before saying something bad. - Dont take people or things for granted because they might disappear. -Before sleeping try to remember what you did good or bad , there's always a place for improvment. -Dont forget that life is short, live your life in an islamic way as much as you can.
  5. Salam Alaykum, I agree with Shaabella ,we should not let any non-mahran into our homes whether he's a somali , arab or watever. You need to be careful when you're alone. And if you have no choice to let in the person such a close relative to your parents or the guy who does some repairs , keep some distance and watch your back.
  6. Salam Alaykum, Geel-Jire , I hope you are not serious when you say that parents should not talk about sex with their children. You also emphasize on the ethics and the morals of Islam ,I agree. What I meant about parents talking about sex is that they should emphasize on abstinence, not only on the no-no about sexual intercourse but also regarding the touching , the kissing.Believe many teens still dont know that kissing is even haram. To Sophist ,I hope you are not wasting your time by paying attention to an oxymoron such as "halal boyfriend", because you know, I was only referring to an islamic relationship.I dont get your point though, so clarify it.
  7. Salam Alaykum, Good question ,OG_Girl ,the western concept of b/f involves kissing and sexual intercourse but if nothing haram is done ,can we consider the guy as a halal boyfriend? I think its possible as long as both partners date in a religious way and dont forget that the goal is to get married not stay in the b/g cycle forever. I think some girls are afraid to tell guys that they want something halal because they dont want them to lose interest after.Or maybe some guys are afraid that their peers make fun of them and prefer to do haram rather than get humiliated by them. But lets not always use the excuse that hebel or hebel influenced me ,the truth is you're the only one who follows shaytan at the end. I know sex is sometimes taboo to talk about in our culture but parents should not be ashamed to talk about it with their children before the adolescence because, the adolescence stage is when your children might be very influenced by the peer pressure.
  8. Salam Alaykum, Shaabella, thanks sis for posting those advices and the reason I believe a lot of ppl didnt reply to your post because your post is about sharing ideas ,you're not askin us a specific question .
  9. Salam Alaykum, Garab tuujiye,I just want to let you know that caramel_kisses and camel_ksses are 2 different people so dont confuse them, lol.
  10. Salam Alaykum, Hey Pearl ,that was close call to rape but Alxamdulilallah nothing happened to you.Your story is similar to many other stories that I read , girls are likely to get raped by someone they know rather by a stranger. Maybe the guy didnt intend to rape you, Allah only knows, but anything could have happened. Something is bugging me though ,when I was living in Toronto , people used to always close their doors in buildings ,but since I moved to Ottawa, I noticed that lots of somalis(Im not generalizing) let their doors open because many neighbours come to visit. My relatives always tell me to let the door open when everybody's there and close it when Im alone. Alone or not I always close the door but I often went to some neighbours where some girls where alone and didnt close their doors and when I sneaked in they didnt even know that I was in their homes ,what if a guy came in ? Can you imagine? Another point , as somalis and muslims we often let non-mahrams come into our homes, the problem is what if a guy wants to wait for your parents to come and since you're alone , can you tell him to come back another time? Or face your parents'anger?
  11. Salam Alaykum, I started wearing the hijab last year because I always knew that it was mandatory in Islam. At the beginning, I felt unconfortable about the idea of wearing a piece of fabric on top of my head ,but I thought intention was more important. So first ,I started praying ,then I wore a fabric the same way black girls do, then when I got used to that,I switched to the hijab.I wore the hijab by choice because its one of Allah's commandments and as a muslim , its what I had to do. Concerning the hijab's ban in France , I think its unfortunate that it happened, many muslim girls will have to face great challenges. But I think it was at the same time a wake-up call to all muslims to remind them that they are in a non-muslim country and they need to have their own private schools. I saw a French documentary about a 14 years-old girl who chose to quit school because she didnt want to take her hijab off.Even her own father begged her to take it off so ,she can get some education , she refused. Now throughout a muslim association, she takes some private lessons, Mashallah!!! The hijab is a real issue in France, not only in schools but in the workplace too.I think the president is avoiding this issue. Concerning the hijab in Turkey ,Im puzzled that a muslim country is banning it Subxanallah!!!For what reasons? To attract the West?
  12. Salam Alaykum, 1-A somali queen should be proud of her deen. 2-She must not forget her somali roots. 3-She should be careful and not mix Islam with culture. 4-She must not take things or people for granted. 5-She should stop the hatin'and preach the luvin'. 6-She should admit to herself that weakness is not a crime and use her strength to achieve her goals.
  13. Salam Alaykum, Garab tuujiye , I hope ur not gonna take this in the wrong way , but I think as a muslim you should advise those who seek knowledge in Islam ,not critisize them. Im referring to the comment u made about Baby_Gurl,I think she cares enough about her friend not to let her do something against Islam.Thats why she has to post her message and I believe nothing is wrong with that.
  14. Salam Alaykum, I personally think that waiting for marriage is the best thing, but I do believe in our quest of searching for a husband or a wife,we should look for what is best for us.And by that ,if you must have several platonic relationships (in an islamic way,of course),to look for the perfect mate, so be it. It is often ,rare to see someone looking for the perfect love, 24 hours , seven days a week, I mean , certain things are calaaf, you dont always control what happens and you might have a busy live to even think about it sometimes. We dont need to be in a western society,to see that romance plays a big part in our lives. Just because we're jumping from relationships to relationships,it doesnt mean that we will end up in gangs, have illegitimate children, or prostitute ourselves. There's always a place for imagination , for romance it is up to us ,to follow our hearts in an islamic way.
  15. Salam Alaykum, Foundation, mascaras, eye-liners,powder,lipsticks: these items are so strange to me ,to be honest Im not a big fan of putting on make-up , the thought of my face covered with these make me cringe and I dont even know why. I often wondered how it felt like to have make-up on , I tried it on couple times(when I was younger,I even put nail polish on my lips instead of lipsticks,oh boy it hurt!) and I didnt like it ,not because I looked like a christmas tree but because I felt unconfortable. I went to some weddings and you guys might laugh but I only put on lipsticks, nothing else, still , it was too much for me, I was constantly licking my lips to erase the lipstick. Of course ,dont get me wrong, putting on make-up sometimes ,isnt wrong but having your face covered everyday, must be hell!!! I like to keep things simple, because to me being beautiful is being yourself , however , I dont mind make-up enhancing your beauty. But I think its not meant for me ,lol.Unless I use it to trick my future husband to do all the cleaning and cooking, lol. So to all sisters, what role does make-up play in your life? Are you the type of girls who love to wear it all the time ,sometimes or hate it like me? Share your experiences ,for the make-up files,Im agent bambina.Ciao.
  16. Salam Alaykum, As you know , having faith in Islam and striving to become a better muslim are very important.I have yet so many things to learn in my religion and sins that I must avoid that I might not even be aware of. Step by step ,Im trying to listen to less music , read less look-alike Cosmopolitan magazines partly because sex is the major topic, read less romance novels, avoid backbiting etc... ,Im even thinking about giving up on movies ,I dont know how I will do that , because Im a big fan of movies. But Im aware that most movies contain nudity, coarse language, violence and as a muslim I must be careful. My biggest passion was to draw people ,but since I learned it was haraam , I let it go off. It took me almost one year and a half to control my hand and believe me I still have to watch carefully what Im drawing. That was my biggest sacrifice and I dont regret it since Im doing for Allah. So my question to you nomads is :what is it that you like the most but know that is haraam that you have to give up? Have you ever sacrificied a passion for the sake of Allah?
  17. Salam Alaykum, Dear, Baby_Gurl ,please advise your friend, that there's nothing more beautiful than proudly wearing the hijab and holding onto it. No matter what people say,you gotta going on. I know, it might be hard when people are putting pressure on her , but tell her to be careful not to fall for childish games, because she will be the only loser at the end.If she takes off her hijab now , it might be something else the next time for the sake of pleasing others.
  18. If you guys answer , skip the same topic that just follows it , I posted the second one by mistake
  19. Salam Alaykum, This topic might be familiar to some of you but Im trying to get my point on something else. As you know, many of you have noticed that certain somalis hang around malls.Im not trying to judge the reasons why they spend their times there rather than doing other things. Im rather curious about why their social gatherings have to be in malls and not somewhere else, what is so special about malls? Is it a fabulous place when you lose track of time or something else? I couldnt get the answer , maybe some of u have

  21. Salam Alaykum, Islam teaches us to wear decent clothes ,I know for a fact that women must be covered from head to toes except hands and face. However , I have hard times finding hadiths about the way men should wear their clothes. For example , should a man wear shorts and sleeveless t-shirts outside? If you got sumthin on this , help me plz.
  22. Salam Alaykum, Scarface ,Im really sad that you think that Soul Salah Crew is something nice to talk about. In fact, Im shocked that this young muslim rapper tries to promote violence through a peaceful religion such as Islam. I feel like he's trying to convince us that since that injustice is done to Islam , we should only respond with guns.Subhanallah!!! If Ben Laden has seen that video , it would have been proud of Sheikh Terra (maybe he saw it , we neva know). In the video , he displays all the hypocrites , but isnt he a hypocrite himself since he promotes hate through a song? What about the title "dirty kuffar"?.Isnt he the one who uses dirty ways to spread violent message? Islam is not what he preaches specially when this rapper laughs at the 2 towers collapsing. We dont make fun of dead people.Stop abusing of Islam, why didnt he talk about the extremists muslims who even bomb their own brothers?
  23. Salaam Alaykum, I do believe that piercing any body parts is xaraam since our bodies belong to Allah. But except the ears ,we are not allowed to pierce anything else.I wanted to pierce my nose before ,but since I learned that it was wrong , I had to let it go,lol.
  24. Salam, Miskiin and St Paul chick lol wat u guyz got against me ? Just jokin , I wouldnt waste ur time for dat , dis aint an assignment,I didnt have any topic ,so I thought I just put that.Im forcing nobody to answer though.
  25. Salam Alaykum,I thought we'd play a game, you have to rewrite each paragraph to contain no more than 21 words and of course , you have to make sure that your sentences make sense. 1)Vince Bevan, the chief of police for the Ottawa Police department , told a national conference on gun control and crime prevention being held at the Congress Centre in Ottawa yesterday that people who own guns are more likely to shoot themselves or members of their own families than they are likely to shoot a prowler.(55 words) 2)Russia has the world's highest rate of imprisonment with 558 people incarcerated for every 100,000 people of its population when compared to the United States which imprisons people at a lower rate - 519 people incarcerated for every 100,000 people of its population- but the States has 1.3 million inmates which is more than any other country in the world.(59 words) 3)A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richer scale and centred approximately 16 kilometres southeast of Lake Tahoe shook parts of northern California and west Nevada at 5:23 a.m yesterday morning but there were no reports of injuries to individuals and only minimal damage to buildings and structure was reported.(53 words) 4)A Bank Street convenience store was robbed of $117 at dinner time last night by an elderly woman who said she needed the money to buy food and clothes for the three grandchildren she has had custody of since their parents were killed in a tragic car accident less than a year ago.(53 words) 5)Hundreds of unhappy and disgruntled students- displeased with Algonquin College's new dress code that prohibits the wearing of blue jeans to class-stripped off their pants and staged an impromptu parade in their underwear up and down Woodroffe Avenue during noon hour yesterday ,which caused major traffic tie-ups especially for the dozens of OC Transpo buses that use the Baseline OC Transpo Station as a major commuting centre.(68 words) Let's see in this forum who's the best to rewrites these paragraphs, lol.
