Salaams, Excellent discussion shaqsii, congratulations goes out to ya bro. The Jews have a firm hold in the financial markets and institutions of many western countries in particular the states. Since they own many banks like Rothchilds, JP Morgan, Goldman and Sachs, Chase Fleming and the list goes on. Therefore, through their wealth they bought political power. I mean the White Americans hate Jews as much as they hate Blacks just speak to those white people in pre-dominately white areas. This Jewish political power is manifested on the Jewish Lobby which is the biggest lobby in global politics. They can literally decide govenmental policies such as USA foreign policy especially in regards to the Muslim countries (Middle East) and influence the direction of the so called war of terrorism or realistically war against Muslims. In my opinion, the Jews are not invicible. They just want us to think they are. The money and political power they got is a measely amount compared to what the Muslim Arab countries can get through oil but the problem is that these Muslim oil producing and exporting countries are being politically exploited by their own governments and also Westerners such as the rich texas oil barons like Bush (The pest). For example, In Iraq in order for the people to get basic food and equipment (shelter, blankets etc) Saddam has agreed to "food for oil" with the americans. I mean just look at how cheap the Muslim oil has become. In some places in Texas, you can go to a garage and fill up your tank and at the same time put some water in the engine to cool it the garage worker will probably not charge you for the petrol but will charge couple of dollars for the water. I mean in US, petronl and oil are dead cheap. And when Oil prices fall, it normally means good news for the Western Economy because many firms overheads will fall, transport costs, heating costs and crude oil costs will fall. But it means bad news for Muslim countries as revenue (Price minus overheads) will dramatically fall. The Economics of this situation is rather simple, the Muslims should be the richest in the world because they have oil. And oil like is a unique natural good that can yield financial and political power cause we live in the age where electricity and gas are paramount, I mean just look around your house and count how many things in your house use electricity and/or gas. Therefore, the west will always demand oil because they need it to run their economy and the Muslims will supply because they need to create revenue. The trick here is for the Muslim Oil producing countries to collude, fix prices high and basically act as a cartel. By doing this, these countries should always sell the oil at a high price depending on the political environment (their govts have to support the cartel and share profits evenly). I mean in most economies the markets are not competitive nor monopolies they are oligopolistic, meaning few sellers operate in the market. For example, in the oil market, the are very few sellers because not every where in the world has oil or the capability to take oil from the ground. Making a Muslim cartel in the Oil and Petrol market would be undoubtly successful because it would gurantee huge profits for the cartel. The Muslim countries will then be always better off and richer. I mean those economists or bankers in this forum can bear testimony to this, read the works by Professor George Stigler, Machlup and Profesor Mishkin of Columbus University. With this newly found wealth we can start up new weapons programmes such as nuclear and chemical. And we wil be a major force in the world. Both in terms of military and political power. Then no one will dare mess with us otherwise we just simply flex our military muscle and smoke the culprits out. Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that we are politically and financial weak because we have unfit dictatorial leaders in most of our countries. We need to reform and transform ourselves, our families, our citizens, our military and our political systms using Islam as the guiding principle. Insha Allah, I have a dream that one day the Muslims will grow strong, re-unite and defeat their enemies and will be once again the Major force of global activities such as Economics, Politics and helping the rest of the world from darkness into light as aforetime. Salamu Alaikum, In general according to Sheikh Zakir Naik, scholars are of two different opinions on this issue. Some of them say it is haram because suicide is haram these ppl include the late (Ala Ya Rahim) Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz. Nevertheless, according to Sheikh Zakir, some other scholars are of the opinion like in the case of palestine it is feasible. Because they have no choice, no other weapons to fight back. They explain that because those ppl who are doing suicide bombing do not have the intention to kill themselves but the intention here is to destroy the enemy (yahuda) then this is not suicide because there is a small probability that the bomber will not die as this has happened where suicide bombers were found alive after a bombing event. This would lead to utter failure and lack lusted marital relationship in the future as both patners will doubt each other,the man will think has this woman ever been with other guys and vice versa hence trust will be absent from the marriage. In reply to Mandeeq, Surah Al-Imran is also very memorable in my heart like every single Surah of the Quran it teaches us about Allah and that we should obey him and worship him alone without associating any patners. When the family of Cimran prayed for a child they promised that they would bring up this child only for the purpose of worshipping Allah and not for any other reason. Allah out from His Over-Flowing Bounty granted them Maryam, Mother of Prophet Isa (Alaihi Salaam). Maryam was always in seclusion worshipping Allah and she guarded her chastisity all the time. Allah chose Maryam to deliver a Miracle to the children of Israel and to guide them from darkness into light. This miracle was the birth of Isa without a father. Isa (AS) came to the children of Israel to confirm what was with them (The Taurat) and was given the Injiil and commanded to convey the message that there is no God worthy of worship except Allah. He like other prophets was a devouted Muslim calling to the same message of his fore-fathers Ibrahim, Isaac and Jacob as well as informing the children of Israel that there is another prophet after him whose name shall be Ahmed* and that he shall be the comforter (same prediction also to be found in the christian scripture Deutromony chapter 18 verse 18 where Jesus is quoted to have said that there will be another comforter after himself). The topic I would love to discuss is what lessons have been learned from the beautiful story of Yusuf as Allah (Aza Wa Jal) narrated to us in the Holy Qura'an. I would like to know what those people who read this Surah learnt from this haq story ? Did what you learned change you for the better ? For me, I learnt that in any under situation one needs to keep patient and fear Allah because Allah is with those who are patient and fear him. I also learnt that jealosy is a disease which we should all clean from our hearts. Because Jealosy hardens the heart until one feels so jealous that he or she might commit a major sin to cause the downfall of the one he/she is jealous of. I eagerly await some responses. Salaams, It has to be Brazil, I mean with the 3R's how can you gonna fail? My teams are both out England and Senegal. I wanted England to win cause the prime minster promised to give us a day off from work. So I thought why not ? The Weather is great, may be get away for the weekend, perhaps go visit relatives in Holland or Belgium. So even though I had a gut feeling Brazil will win I was madly cheering for England and when one of their playas was sent out I was shouting out for England like them hooligans do pretending that my shaah was a pint(only joking). Salamu Alaikum, My answer to this question is rather simple I am a Muslim and Alhamdulilah proud of how I look like and being Somali lol. To answer the question put forward in more detail i have to tell that you gys whether you like it or not many Somali clans have some sort of arab blood. Let me tell you a story to prove this statement. One day there was my uncle, his wife and the wife's brother in Oman back in the 1980's, I was in dippers during this time drinkig too much milk bottles lol. They were in a coffe house drinking coffee outside, where some Omani men asked them where you from? My uncle an crew replied Somalia, then the man said that Somali people are arabs and in particular his Omani clan were related to the ruling clan of Somalia at that time (1980's). My uncle and his crew were shocked about the Omani man's knowledge of the tribal system in Somalia and how he linked his clan to the ruling clan of the 1980's. Facinated by this enlightment, they sat down with the men talking about the tribes of Somalia and how arabs in particular Omanians and Yemenis came to Somalia in the 6th to 7th century and how people adopted the True Way of Life (Islam). This for me proves that most Somalis have some sort of arabic blood. Some people are running away with the slight mentioning of them perhaps being arab, I don't get this, what is the matter with being Arabs? Its obvious, some Somalis associate more with some afro-americans, than their own fellow Muslim arab cousins. I mean I love being Muslim and then Somali period alhamdulilah Peace all ! Remember: We are all the Sons and Daughters of Adam, made from salsaalin kalfakhaar ( Baked Clay).

I agree with the definition of Abdinuur here but in general I believe the term dating is rather self-explanatory. Neverthelss, the features of dating (what people are up to whilst dating) are not transparent. In general, dating is different from getting to know someone for marital purposes. Dating in the contemporay sense implies illegal way of men and women going out in order to satisfy their desires and for social reasons i.e. to say wow ! i got a girlfriend this would keep in line with the status quo of many western civilisations. In addition, we are aware that before one considers marriage, the two individuals must get to know each other without there being any physical relationship. However, the 64,000 dollar question is " is the intention marriage or merely temporary relationship or even more extreme multi-patner relationship, where for example a man might posses more than one female companion? " This we know is much admired in the west where you are viewed as a cassonova. At the end of the day, men want women and women want men, this is our nature. But to avoid many problems such as sexual transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, illegitimate children, risk of family disownment and burdening society i.e. relying on welfare state as well as destoring one's future life we human beings need to satisfy our needs and wants in a away that it does not cause injurious effects to us and others. This why people commit to marriage and don't have any intercourse before marriage or outside marriage. To link this to dating, dating encourages men and women to get toghether without commitment. I mean boy meets girl, they consent they go they seperate ways. Girl can be pregnant and suddenly out of those little acts, major dillemas arise for the parties involved. This is why dating is forbidden since one's intention is not marriage but temporary fun. Dating in the sense that a man and woman get toghether not commiting haram things and their intentions are marriage, according to my knowledge this is permissible. I hope this is of some use and once again I thank those brothers and sisters who contributed to the topic in such refreshing and intelligent manner, I hope the All-Mighty grants us success in this life and most paramount in the here after. My dear Sir, I don't want you to view me as an opponent rather I prefer you to see me as a well-wisher merely offering some advice. Women are commanded to cover all the parts of the body except face and hands. They have no choice in this matter it is either follow it and please Allah or don't follow it and risk punishment. Therefore, the comments you made regading niqaab and hijaab are uncalled for and it seems that there is a confusion on your part regarding the functions that these garments fulfill. They are covering parts of the body forbidden to be disclosed in public. However, many men including myself have to lower the gaze but when women uncover prts of their bodies as they are encouraging men to look at them and obviously this is satan's handiwork. Secondly, you utter that "Somali women never used to cover themselves in Somalia." Well as I did not grow up in Somalia, I can't make much comments here. But one thing I have observed is that in many western countries Somali girls are beginning to cover modestly and this figure is set to increase as many women are coming back to the right path. Also, assuming you were right, will you simply legislate from your own desires that women should not cover just because somali women don't (God Forbid). In other words, if a group of people who somthing that is bad will you simply follow them. When analysing this kind of topic one must seperate between Somali culture and what you are commanded to do (Islam). Finally, I hope my Muslim Somali sisters who do not cover themselves properly receive as much Islamic education as possible so they can understand why they have to cover themselves and that their hearts can be softened and open to Allah's guidance and put into practise these perfect principles from the One Above. And would love to remind them that they should sumbit to the One Above and by doing they shall be successful in this life and in the hear-after Insha ALLAH. We are promised eternal happiness if we submit and we gain peace of mind in that we know what to do (Follow Islam) and where we are going to after death (Judgement Day). Remember, the delights awaiting for the dwellers of Jannah: Gardens which rivers flow and given everything your heart desires and can never imagine. Salamu Alaikum, In general, most of us know we are forbidden to date but still some of us date as they feel that they need to do this to fulfill certain needs and also some of us living in many countries which dating and free-mixing are encouraged come to face many temptations especially at school and work. Many of the people in these countries actively promote dating, For example:- 1. 98% of women in the West read romantic novels 2. Women underpressure to look good for men 3. Love films 4. Newspaper gossip columns and dating advertising and also explicit dating services e.g. hot telephone lines 5. Social Rejection 6. Peer Pressure 7. Social activities designed for women and men to enjoy i.e. clubbing,cinemas, hotels, motels etc. Therefore, I am intrigued to find out what people in this forum think about the effects of dating and why some Somali people date? Do they perhaps feel there is nothing wrong with it or it has considerable effets ? Also has anyone had experience of dating which resulted in either positive or negative conseqences ?
