  3. as somealien said, Millenium, king, boys i have nothing to say to you... I dont wanna imagine what you or anybody that associates with you would look like -- for fear of loosing my sanity after seeing such nasty sights -- and clown as i said before the lady - she is spoken for -, she has already hired the Raage Omar { the main BBC man} my father to read the news out for him in his new portable penthouse overlooking his camels while they graze, every hour on the hour instead of listing to it on the radio. Brother you have to find another.

  6. Ok, all of us have lost our names because people in europe cant pronounce them, i.e. i am maxamad, but nobody can pronounce it so i become mohamed, its a different name all together. and its not just names, places, countries, everything and its not just somalis {yes somalis not somalians see the topic} its every non european culture, How many europeans do you see changing their names co's the somali/arabs/africans/indian/chinese cant pronounce them, you never see Peter, become betar because a nomand cant quite get the 'p' or the 'th' sound and dont even think about changing a places name to make it more pronouncable/phonetic for the above lot, you'd be desecrating its history. so the question is simple are we selling our selves out? have we taken on our new cultural slave names?
  7. somalien, is french for somali, in af somali, you a somali i.e somali baan ahay not somalian, the word somalian is anglosised i.e hindu --> indian to fit in with the english language by those who cant be bothered to do the back-round reasearch when they write or talk about us, f**k it lets tear away these chains and stop changing our names to fit in by anglosising them. thats it i've been thinking about this for a while i'm gonna post a topic on on.
  8. Pyromaniac_Pixie: I would as sure as hell like to see a somali scientist but I guess Im going to have to wait for students to finnish school. 17. Its great to see such a possitive outlook for the EAU from the somaliaonline nomads, going back to your posts Illmatic: Here is another suggestion. The universities should set-up scholarship for student from different regions. For example, Mogadisho uni will offer scholarships to students who went to high school in different city like Bosasso, Hargaisa or kismaayo. a great suggestion, like wise a great point from Bari_Nomad: I think it shows the growing responsibilities regions/communities are taking upon themselves to fill the educational gap in Somalia . maybe its time for those of us outside of somalia to take serious intrest in helping to maintain such institutions i.e. by regular fund raising for somali universities to help insure as nino said youngesters have an opportunity. After all, education is a way out of poverty, more of your thoughts please i.e. what do you think are the most crucial challenges for institutions such as this to overcome today?.
  18. Nomads what are your views on this The East Africa University based in Bosaso, their website is still under construction but they have a selection of pictures of the campus (intresting viewing for those of us studying in the rest of the world) Q. Do you think it will attaract a cross-section of students? Q. Do think it will survive? Q. What are its implications? What does it say about Somaaliya today and its future? personally i think its amazing maybe we could set up a partnership in the near future to get students in europe or america to help setup, teach, train or provide equipment there, anyway what are your thoughts?
