  2. It's a first to see Daqane annoyed. For Somalia to heal, for its people to find peace and harmony - there will be a need to acknowledge each others pain/hurt caused by the years of Dictator ruling and the civil war.. Dismissing each other nor accusing each other isn't the way forward - either we all choose to be victims and wallow in self pity/hatred etc..or we acknowledge and take responsibility in how we engage with one another so to start the healing. I have no property to claim in Mogadishu , but have seen friends acquires theirs back and it was very easy too.

  11. Things are tough out there - so calling one self Jane perhaps isn't such a crime, if one has to pay rent.
  12. Oba warya kaa xishood gabadha - Blessed, I think you misunderstood Oba, it was just an observation he had made of the changes - which we all have seen. Looking back at how 'at ease' folks where with dress codes to the almost 'militant' mentality on what a girl/woman should wear now days..taasi maa been baa?
  13. I think he prefers how women dressed in the yesteryear's rather that how women dress now in Somalia...Now ya all can line up and sue him..lol

  18. Ngonge - my family would have burned me, too independent for my own good even in the Somali standards..lol. Stoic, it is harsh culture. One of my friends, she was a Patel, got married - not only to a well to do guy, but light skinned too [she made a point of that when she wrote to me] but my other friend whom the family was 'tailors' has not married, as there are 5 girls in the family, the father cant afford the dowry so they have all grown old at home...Nor did their brothers got married, being poor and a female is a curse in Indian culture.
  19. ^Yep - listening to the radio this morning about how doctors in Rajastani are willy nilly removing uterus from young women - made my blood boil. I grew up surrounded by Indians - it sure would have sucked to be born an Indian woman..noloshuu waa dib miraan.
  20. ^Indeed, a weird culture...Now the guy and his family will not only gain a wife, but a worker, cook, cleaner and forever devotion till death do them part..I would have sucked as an Indian woman, koleybaa wala igubii laha by now..Loool Afternoon folks! Maxa la shegee?
  21. Very Sad...even after being scammed of that much money, she believes there is still a chance for them to have a life together..whoah!..bless her.
