  2. My sympathies to the secessionist. Egal had a holiday much like this in 1999 thats nearly a decade ago and no recognition came. Thus in a decade from now there will be no recognition. Lets deal in facts Your leaders went to London and met UK officials, yet the UK governemnt statement on Somalia was that it supports the TFG, Then they went to Washington and you had the US admin coming out again in supoport of the TFG. The most important thing to note is that the US has defered to the AU with regards to the secessionist day dream. The AU is by far the biggest supporter of the TFG. Again lets refer back to facts,. To Zaylici, adeer I am a Yusufite, because I support the TFG leader and the policies of unity, federalisam, and a strong Somali state. Thus if that angers my secessionist brothers, I could care less.
  3. Recent U.N. Security Council resolutions on Somalia, backed by the United States, reaffirm support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and unity of the country. Easy reading
  4. The United States has had no diplomatic presence in Mogadishu for more than a decade, but supports the U.N.-backed transitional government there. Officials say they engage with Somaliland as a regional administration. A province should be treated this way.
  5. The Bush administration said Thursday the United States is not recognizing Somaliland as an independent country despite a State Department visit earlier this week by the breakaway Somali region's leader, Dahir Rayale Kahin. U.S. officials say they defer to the African Union on the recognition issue . The luncheon meeting Monday between Kahin and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer was the highest-level contact between the parties in several years. But officials here insist it does not portend any early U.S. move to recognize the self-proclaimed independent region of northwestern Somalia, but rather is part of broad U.S. contacts with Somali parties and political figures. Somaliland declared its independence in 1991 as the rest of Somalia descended into civil conflict. It has enjoyed relative stability and elected governments, though it lacks international recognition. At a news briefing, State Department Spokesman Sean McCormack said the fact of Monday's meeting does not mean the United States is on the verge of recognizing Somaliland and that U.S. policy on the matter is unchanged . He said U.S. officials believe it important to have contacts with responsible political figures from all over Somalia , who have an interest in building the country's institutions and taking it to, as he put it, a more hopeful future: "Certainly Jendayi's [Frazer's] meetings fall solidly within that category, and it's a policy we are going to continue to pursue," said Sean McCormack. "We have interests in fighting terrorism in Somalia as well as in the Horn of Africa. Part of trying to bring about some greater stability in Somalia , writ large, involves working with the political parties , encouraging the political parties and political leaders in Somali to come together." McCormack said the United States defers to the African Union as the appropriate forum to address the recognition issue. Recent U.N. Security Council resolutions on Somalia, backed by the United States, reaffirm support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and unity of the country. The United States has had no diplomatic presence in Mogadishu for more than a decade, but supports the U.N.-backed transitional government there. Officials say they engage with Somaliland as a regional administration. The Somaliland leader also had Washington meetings this week with officials from White House National Security Council, the Defense Department, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. His late predecessor as Somaliland president, Muhammad Ibrahim Egal, had a similar round of Washington meetings in 1999. Source: VOA
  6. MALLOCH-BROWN COMMENTS ON THE FORMATION OF THE TRANSITIONAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN SOMALIA MALLOCH-BROWN COMMENTS ON THE FORMATION OF THE TRANSITIONAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN SOMALIA (12/01/08) The Minister for Africa, Lord Malloch-Brown has welcomed the formation of a new Cabinet of Ministers for the Transitional Federal Government. He emphasised UK support for the Transitional Government, urged it to build on this positive development by advancing the political process and encouraged all parties with a stake in Somalia's future to engage in this process constructively, for the sake of improving the lives of Somalis. Lord Malloch-Brown said: 'I welcome the overwhelming Parliamentary endorsement of the new Transitional Federal Government Cabinet of Ministers. This positive step in Somali politics will now allow the Transitional Government to turn its attention to advancing a genuine and inclusive political process in Somalia, as envisaged in the Transitional Federal Charter. We look forward to the rapid and full implementation of the outcomes of the National Reconciliation Congress last August, leading in particular to a Constitutional Process and a meaningful, fully inclusive political dialogue. 'Emphasising the United Kingdom's continued support for the Transitional Government, we stand ready, with our international partners, to provide assistance to the Government and Transitional Institutions to help deliver the transitional period. I call on all other parties with a stake in Somalia's future to engage in this process constructively. Somalis have suffered for far too long from the effects of conflict, political instability and lack of security'. 7. Should the supporters of the Al-Shabaab, clan courts, Ahmed Diriye group or as they are know the looters inc, give up the fake armed struggle? Even for the lives of the people they are "fighting for"? Or will they continue to bleed untill not one of them is left. My sympathies to the barinwashed child soldiers, and our poor civilains being used as human shields and excuse for failed military and political clan centric projects. Look at the example of Angola the armed factions gave up and now the country is booming. Its time for the delusional Somali's to realise, the war is over, there is governemnt, come and play politics.
  8. S-SLASH Calm down with the hot air, no mass rapes ever occured outside the imagination of the clan court media such as dayniile.com and Shabbele. Pardon, even the NGos; have stopped making wild accusations.
  9. Xogsade, have you ever told the Al-Shabaab, the clan courts, the Ahmed Diriye group not to attack government troops? Ever once? Thus why cry about the consequneces when you always wnat attacks, assasination, landmines and root for battles in heavily populated neighbourhoods. These groups will continue to lose untill they are like Ahmed Diriye in jail, like IndaCade hiding in the bushes and like Sharif Ahmed making phone calls from Asmara.
  10. AJ, anyone who attacks governemnt and allied troops will be shott. Civilains have nothing to do with this. As for his holiday, its going well.
  11. ^^^Five more years is enough, he is not interested in going beyond that. As for those against this, it matters not you have no impact what so ever, you were against him in 2004 and I hope you are againts him in 2009. Five more years........
  12. Two terms are only fair for the man's great work so far. 2009 for Yey...
  13. Now that the health speculations have been put aside. Yusufites every where should start working for the 2009 campaign. 5 more years..
  14. ^^^lool. They are more educated, braver and nationalistic than the clan men you claim to support. Somalia is moving forwrad.
