DAGAAL CULUS OO MAANTA KADHACAY SANAAG (GROOWE NEWS REPORTS)
General Duke replied to Garyaqaan2's topic in Politics
Codetalker, you can’t hide from the fact that this is no major conflict or what you and Dayniile jumped to propagate. This is an important issue for the people of Puntland but it is not one against clans, the nonsense about the GBP fighting a clan and other utterances of yours only show that things are not as they seem. This incident is not new to Puntland, a few gun battles near a well is no armed conflict. So get your facts straight, your story was inaccurate initially and you have done nothing to get your facts straight only created new innuendos and hearsay. Its you who is telling fibs here, your past claims and your consitancy in attcaking all that come from the Puntland shows clearly who is right and wrong. -

As you well know, Ciidanka Darawiishta refused to partake in Gen. Cadde's naked aggression against Reer Sanaag. Right now, Cadde is using GBP (Golaha Badbaadinta Puntland) militias, composed of his sub-ilk who fought terribly against Col Yeey's forces in the recent past. It seems the GBP militias, better equipped today than in the past, still can't fight for sh!t. Codetalker, that is a baseless and in fact a naked and blatent lie, your whole statements on this issue seem to be no more than hearsay from those who wish dire things on the state of Puntland. There are no GBP militia and the armed forces have not been called to fight anyone in Sanaag outside defending it from the secessionists. For us to take you seriously you must present evidence of these statements or keep them to yourself. Regarding the exploitation, its good that you admit Puntland has a right to its natural resources as it has to controlling its borders and taxing its people. The issue of Cade and his moves is a world away from the aim of your posts and the reason you are fuelling this specific issue. The people here have outside personnel hate of Cade and clan sentiments have not presented anything to suggest that it is unfair to the locals that there should be exploration, basic research in that area. As one knows the Raange agreement is for research of the minerals in the WHOLE state and not particulate to that area. This leads to your question of “Tell me exactly how a group of foreigners would safely conduct their work in a land without the natives' support? There is a pattern emerging of a ploy to use the locals who are ignorant of everything to claim that this is theirs. If this workd then everyone in every area will take up arms to claim every find and imagine what mayhem that would create, thus derailing the whole endeavour. That’s whay this is about, but hopefully the people will not be blinded by these naysayer and in fact will benefit from their resources. -

EU backs Somalia leadership, pledges more aid
General Duke replied to codetalker's topic in Politics
First of all Mr Oodweyn you and I belong to two competing Somali political groups with totally different stances. Yours is the secessionist clan state better known as Somaliland and mine is the Federal government or TFG. For 14 years the secessionist clan state has been isolated and alone and has the support of hardly anyone outside of a number of NGO’s and nostalgic British colonial writers and individuals. This is demonstrated by the facts as reported on Reuters that.. “The European Commission signed a pact giving political recognition to Somalia's interim government on Tuesday and pledged more aid to the war-weary Horn of Africa nation.†This is an important step for the TFG, it gives it further legitimacy which the secessionists crave but has so far not attained. Remembering also that the EU is a major world donor and this can be illustrated by the fact that it gives millions of dollars annually to the Palestinian authorities. Its support would go along way to establishing a central government in Somalia. Only a school boy would ignore the fact that the secessionists and have attempted many times to make in roads with the EU and have thus far failed. It is interesting also that Mr Oodweyn highlights the Italian involvement in this meeting and the, now I welcome the recognition and the support the Italian government has given the TFG thus far. This is a testament to the weakness, incompetence and the lack of understanding of the workings of the international community of the secessionists. Who have put all their bets on their former masters Britain recognising them after all they were aâ€protectorateâ€. They have failed to understand that arguments based on clans would seem absurd to an EU that has overcome the differences of religion, language, culture and the history of two destructive world wars. Mr Oodweyn, the TFG in less than a year and six months has gained the support and backing of the important EU, to name a few it has the recognition of and sent representatives[ambassadors] to China, Belgium and Italy. It is a member of the AU and Arab League. Diplomatically Somaliland has achieved nothing in 14 years. Domestically speaking it is a bigger version of Mohamed Dheere clan state with a parliament. No one on Earth recognises it, so who is fooling who, who is the comedian here. You or I. My leaders [Abdiqasin, Yusuf] have spoken in the UN assembly yours is isolated in Hargaysa and has been chased out of LAS ANO. There is no argument here I present facts my nation exists and is recognised by the world, if you have doubts I can name you my ambassadors can you name me any of yours? Salaam Duke... -
The mythology of C/Qasim and Dahir Aweis Of hidden Shari-a law courts Al-Itihaad: al-Itihaad has a domestic agenda! All al-Itihad members in Somalia are al-Qaeda foot soldiers, recruiters and storekeepers for the parent company. They control close to 75% of the commercial activities of the region. They trade with each other; finance each other; collaborate with each other; and they spy on each other. Any member caught tracking off the guidelines of the organization is initially warned and financially severely punished for a period of time. Sometimes they are altogether eliminated! In almost every town and village in Somalia, there is an al-Itihad cell and a hierarchy to follow. For international travel purposes, each member has a special internal identification in the form of an assigned number. Each cell has a cell leader, every region a leader, and a supreme leader for each country. With this cohesiveness, discrimination against nonmembers is prevalent in Somalia and widely accepted and practiced by the group. And given their power of the purse, and abject poverty in the country, recruiting is a no-brainer for the organization. Prior to the civil war, al-Itihaad recruiting was limited mainly to Mogadishu. But, during the past ten years, as Somalis turned inward and each into his/her tribe and clan, the organization has expanded into villages and small towns. They built schools, mosques and organized charities. With this kind of base, previously never thought of and imagined by the al-Itihaad leadership, the organization sought help from foreign donors and al-Itihaad has never been the same. The argument against the courts....

Mansa, on many points I agree. The people of Puntland would demonstrate if the case was put to them that the people of a particular area were being trambled on. Codetalker, brother Puntland has survived a much bigger armed struggle and its fabric has stayd in tact. As for your false claim, no land has been sold, butit is within the right of Puntland to exploit its natural resources as its right to tax and control the ports and air ports. So I beg your pardon sir, no clan has a right to stop the developemnt of the state. Makhir, I wish you luck in your quest, however you wont gain an inch when it comes to confrontation and clan jostling. It is not interesting to me -

Somalipride well said indeed. These are minor shootings that take place every where in Somalia, which our good neighbouring clans would like to exploit. But it is our responsability to defuse the situation and show tolerance to our people. Going back to the topic, this EU agreement and the Arab league summit has been a sucess for the TFG. No one can take that from the leaders not even Oodweynes writing. -

^^^ Interesting, my dear SomaliPride there is no argument between us here nor should there be. We have few differences you and I. We are both against the corruprtion in Puntland whether under Yusuf or Cade or the ones after them, bad leadership, nepotisam, will bring us all down. Lets not take sides, Somalia has ahd and has very bad leaders, including Cade, Abdiqasin, Riyaale and of course ina Yusuf Yey.. My defence of the TFG is not an excuse for its short comings. I am only combating the secesionists who dream of seing every SOMALI leader isolated. Today neither Yusuf nor Cade are isolated nor does Puntland and the TFG lack power or support.. -

^^^ I stand by the word, its your interpretation that was wrong I mean no one should be trambled on as you are claiming. As for the matcho stance of fighting of THE WHOLE of the Puntland forces, why woudl you even contemplate sucha scenario? Like I said before work on defusing the situation and call out to everyone, no one sub-clan in Puntland can do anything on its own. -

^^^ Look I agree with your last comments. So lets take a step back. I am not on the side of Xabsade, Cade or on the side of the clan which you hail from. I am on the side of the Puntland state and its future. There are massive problems, corruption clan nepotisam and basic incompetence in Puntland. Cade has mishandled many issues and this is just one. Remember the incident in Galkacyu, the incident in Bossaso with Ina Taar. There are many shady deals that we dont understand. The problem I have is why elevate this issue and lose your objective. If it becomes a clan conflict does it suit you or the local people? I think not. You must reach out to all those who dont like Cade's actions, seek the majority in Bossaso, Galkacyu, Garowe and Las Ano who are not happy with people getting trambled on. Seek te Puntland diaspora but for goodnes sake dont play into the hands of Cade, Xabsade and the like. Dont lose your voice in a shouting match. Deliver your message to all of us in Puntland who are fed up with these corrupt leaders, what is it you want us to do? -

^^^ LOL, and all the time I thought I was talking to a well informed individual. Lets get back to basics shall we. Puntland state covers roughly 40% of the Somali republic and including the Cayn[buhudle] former Togdheer. Dont mix things up Puntland is part and parcel of Somalia. So when you utter nonsence like "Yey has no support in Somalia" Remember that fact. Not forgeting that members of the TFG are right now in Cadaado, Kismayu, Baidoa, even Mogadishu things are looking up. I forgot you dont have much knowledge about the Somali republics map. Hint it is a big country outside Berbera-Burco-Hargaysa traingle.. -

Makhir, first of all I wish you well on your quest however I doubt your wishes will come true. Puntland is one of the most powerful adminstrations in Somalia and it has no comparison in the south. After that point lest turn to the issue at hand, so far I am taking a pinch of salt with this news and I am not taking seriousloy those who are drumming up a conflict from afar. The dispute has two sides, one the incopmetence of Cade for ignoring [not paying of] the local elders in the area. Thats why some are crying out foul play, they voted for him yesterday and now they want battle him? The other is the conspiracy that Cade and his clan are robing everything, selling everything. I wonder how easy it is to take out a whole mountain of minerals or to exploit hydrocarbons and other reasources? To the ignorant evrything is so simple. If there is a conflict no one will be the better for it or the richer for it. So Makhir hope for peace instead of promoting your fantasy war. We have elarned bitterly war is no fun.. -

Good news indeed... EU backs Somalia leadership, pledges more aid Posted to the Web Mar 28, 20:10 BRUSSELS, March 28 (Reuters) - The European Commission signed a pact giving political recognition to Somalia's interim government on Tuesday and pledged more aid to the war-weary Horn of Africa nation, hit by fresh violence in recent days. The signing of a "memorandum of understanding" with Somali leaders is an attempt by the European Union executive to encourage EU states and others to recognise the government after last month's opening of an interim parliament on home soil. "I gave assurances of moral, political and material support," European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said after the signing of the memorandum with Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed and Prime Minister Mohamed Ali Gedi. Barroso said the Commission would next month urge EU states to release a further 70 million euros ($84 million) in assistance to Somalia on top of the 200 million euros it has already granted, mainly through United Nations agencies. "This is a historic event which marked Somalia's aspirations to the community of nations after 15 years of civil strife," Gedi told a joint news conference with Barroso. EU Development Commissioner Louis Michel said the pact would make it easier for the EU to channel aid to Somalia, adding he would visit the country in May to study potential aid projects. Somalia's new parliament opened in February in the southern city of Baidoa, the 14th attempt to restore government since warlords ousted dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991. The capital Mogadishu saw its fiercest fighting for years in recent days as militiamen linked to Islamic courts battled with the city's most powerful warlords. Militia leaders said on Monday a ceasefire was in place after four days of fighting claimed between 70 and 90 lives. Gedi called for calm but added: "Still it is not quiet so anything can happen."
