Picture of the Month meet the Somali Governors
Xaaji Xunjuf replied to malistar2012's topic in Politics
I never gave it a positive spin i just agreed with the Tallaabo the Ethiopians want to use this event to halt secession elements in the Somali Kilil. A symbolic superiority of Ethiopia and a divided Somali state, giving the Somalis under Ethiopia nothing but to accept the Ethiopian identity. Somaliland rejected the London and Turkey conference because it lumps Somalia with Somaliland and gives the government of Somalia the central authority of both countries. I agree that it would have been better to send a minor Somaliland deputy Minister to Jigjiga the same way the Kenyans send the nairobi's deputy Mayor, it is what it is son. -
Somaliland: President Silanyo Pays Tribute To Mandela The President of Somaliland has offered his condolences to the family, friends and the nation of South Africa for the loss of Nelson Mandela. Below is a press release published by the Somaliland Sun: Practically all world leaders have shown overwhelmed emotions when in an historic unprecedented manner they all poured their deep heart-felt condolences to the family, relatives, friends and particularly, the nation of South Africa in the demise of one of the 20th century's greatest sons. Foremost amongst them was Somaliland President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo who described the late President Mandela as a man of "great, great personality". He said that his greatness spanned not only in his country or the African continent, but the whole world at large. The President said the late Nelson Rohlilala Mandela left a great mark in the fight against apartheid hence, furthermore, reconciled the former racial foes in SA. He added that the mutual understanding that the conciliatory effects bore was not only embedded in his country but it traversed across the world. President Silanyo underscored the fact that Madiba was not only a giant icon to be emulated but one who deserved everlasting honour. The President did not only confine his tributary condolences to the family relatives, friends, or SA only, but he extended it to the whole world whereby the Madiba effect has/had touched over the years to the present day. He said that it was imperative that the legacy Mandela left not only be emulated but put in action for the world's co-existence in which people of all creeds and colour lived in. - See more at: http://www.unpo.org/article/16675#sthash.gZD0SDMg.dpuf

Puntland Is Stronger Than the Dam Jadid Manifesto 8 DECEMBER 2013 RELATED TOPICS Somalia Somalia: Mogadishu Court to Hear Charges... EDITORIAL The "fowdo" (chaos) presidential candidates emerged - playing the Dam Jadid Manifesto - and hoping for a Barre Hirale-style move: declare the 2014 election illegitimate, declare "multiple presidents of Puntland", and declare allegiance to Dam Jadid. On November 8, 2013, Garowe Online editorialized, regarding Puntland presidential candidates 2014: "...are they genuine presidential candidates with Puntland's best interest at heart, or simply political opportunists exploiting the moment?" Today, some of Puntland's presidential candidates 2014 declared their "own vetting committee" - a surprise move, perhaps intended to disrupt the smooth flow of the electoral process in Puntland. A surprise, indeed, as Puntland has held similar political processes and presidential elections most recently in 2005 and 2009, with a clear trajectory of political developments that transpired under law, with legitimacy and in a state of peace and security. A surprise, indeed, as Puntland stands today as the defender of security and Somali solidarity in a federal system, and promotes a development agenda. Most surprising, indeed, that Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali (Gaas) is among the eight names (out of 20 or so presidential candidates in Puntland), who signed this document that nominates members to an illegal Vetting Committee. Dr. Gaas, as a former Somali Prime Minister, should know the difference between what is law and procedure, and what is hearsay and wishful thinking. Puntland President Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Farole nominated a 7-member Vetting Committee and a secretary on Dec. 3, after broad consultations with civil society in Puntland. The end result was a Vetting Committee widely accepted and praised for their neutrality and lack of association with Farole's administration. Moreover, former Puntland Presidents Mohamed Abdi Hashi and Mohamud Muse Hersi nominated Vetting Committees in 2004 and 2008, so President Farole did not do anything new in the political system of Puntland. What the presidential candidates could have done is question particular characters of the Vetting Committee nominated by the Puntland President. Are there any conflicts of interest? Instead, some of the presidential candidates opted for the road that promotes political instability and lawlessness. But we believe that Puntland is much stronger, Puntland today is a State, and the clans are united behind a State that protects them, promotes their development and demands the people's rights. This is the State of Puntland. If President Farole did not do anything new, then some of the presidential candidates did something new by nominating their own vetting committee. One wonders: in appointing such a committee, what reference points do some of the presidential candidates have? Will they reference the Puntland Constitution? Or will they reference the Dam Jadid Manifesto - a Mogadishu-centric, clan domination-driven version of the "Communist Manifesto"? The same Dam Jadid Manifesto that failed in Jubaland State, and the regions of Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle, Bay, Hiraan, and Mogadishu was loudly. Indeed, many of the presidential candidates have lost their own hopes for an election victory and credibility in Puntland. They rushed to Puntland, fuelled by an imaginary opposition to the situation in Puntland: "the people hate Farole" and "the people need change" - the anthems of the "opposition", but a dose of reality on the ground was clearly suffice. The "fowdo" (chaos) presidential candidates emerged - playing the Dam Jadid Manifesto - and hoping for a Barre Hirale-style move: declare the 2014 election illegitimate, declare "multiple presidents of Puntland", and declare allegiance to Dam Jadid's political sabotage of federalism, undermining of Puntland and Jubaland, and get support to fight against any legitimate authority in Puntland. Not all of the candidates support chaos, however, and the coming days will set a clear line amongst the candidates. To the candidates who support constitutional rule, peaceful elections and pursuit of development, we say welcome to the Puntland political system and best of luck in your electoral endeavor. To the candidates who joined the unfortunate "fowdo group", we say you are from Puntland, and the peace and prosperity in Puntland is in our collective interest, so do not be the one who falls into the trap of the Oreo Cookie: Puntland on the outside, something else on the inside. We are always Puntland - inside and out. Tallaabo;990238 wrote: I think the message Ethiopia is sending by inviting all these Somali leaders to this event is that the Somaliwayn ideals and aspirations and Somali nationalism is defeated and dead. They are showing the Somali Ethiopians and the ONLF that there is no Somali nation to claim ownership of the Somali region in Ethiopia, no Somali leader to support their movement, and nowhere to run to if they resist the Ethiopian control. This is a very shrewd move indeed. Exactly -

Somalia’s Information Minister denied entry to Somaliland Dec 8, 2013 | By Somalicurrent Somalia Information, Telecommunication and Transportation Minister Abdullahi Elmoge Hersi was denied entry to Somaliland, a self-declared republic in Somalia on Friday, local media reports. According to the report, Elmoge along with Somali-Ethiopian officials were heading to Jigjiga to attend the yearly communities celebrations hosted in the city, but he was denied his entry to Somaliland to travel with the officials by car into Ethiopia. Horn of Africa Newspaper from Hargeisa reported that the Ethiopian officials were allowed entry to carry on their travel, but Elmoge was forced to wait a private airplane to take him straight to Jigjiga. Somalia’s Federal Government and Somaliland did not comment on the issue. Recently, there have been a passport dispute between Mogadishu and Hargeisa, after Somaliland refused to allow entry for the banned Somali passport. Local Air travel between the capital Mogadishu and Berbera, was grounded for days, after air carriers canceled their flights due to the row. Somaliland has not its own passport, since it is internationally recognised as an autonomous region of Somalia, and uses the formerly Somali passport, which was officially banned in 2011 by the Transitional Federal Government. Somaliland has yet to accept the new biometric passport of Somalia.

You are right they already balkanized Somalia along clan lines they just fail to admit it when haatu says lets disintegrate what does he actually mean lets declare it but who is stopping them Puntland is basically independent from Mogadishu, the same is galmduug. Is he waiting for Somalilands approval or something. Is Somaliland stopping them from balkanizing their own country? But than again haatu is not from that balkanized Somalia he wished he was from Somalia , he is not yet a kenyan. I remember those arguments about fertile land i mean if they had all the fertile land why on earth would they want to share their fertile land with Somalilanders makes no sense. Nimankan waxay ku sheekenayan wa iska sheekoyinki habraha suuqa bakaraha ku kaftaman.
