  1. Somalis tend to wana b housed near fellow nomads I guess dats where part of de problem lays. British ppl usually house Somalis in areas where previously a large proportion of de inhibitants were African-Caribbean because they want to shift de drug business which usually accumulates in those areas and they cant differentiate between Somalians and other Africans or Caribbeans! Many immigrants get great newly built houses wiv double glazin and all dat. But then when u look at de capital of England which is believed to b ova populated (which in reality it aint-if only they built their houses wiv a bit of common-sense) Obviously because soo many ppl live there and its an old city (they hardly neva built on new ideas!-they knock a house down and build a replica or duplicate of the old 1) it will all look like one big ghetto and Somalis are used to livin in crowded surroundings. So in other words to me London is more or less one big ghetto. There are many Somalis whom dont live in a Ghetto but live in decent areas because they pay their own rent. So if ur a refugee who wants to come to England dont choose London if u want a good quality of life-call up Northerner and ask him to fix u up wiv a nice n clean spot up north!
  2. I am tryin to put together a piece of work which looks at how Somali children are affected by loosing a parent thru divorce/separation as dis unfortunately is very commonplace amongst us all. So I wud deeply appreciate if ya'll cud take a few moments out to answer these questions as a help for my research. 1) As a Muslim wat do u think about divorce?? 2) As a Somali wat do u think about divorce?? 3) Wat are the traditional ways of goin about a divorce?? 4) How do u think a child is affected psychologically and emotionally by a break-up in de household? I personally think divorce shud be a last resort for the sake of the children howeva if arguing has become a daily ritual and this often happens in front of the kids than a period of separation mite be ideal. Because marriage is an important milestone for any Muslim a successful marriage is de next milestone after havin tied the knot. Children shud hav free access 2 both parents and the couple shud not have anger or hate for one another (after de divorce/separation) as de child wud easily pick up on dis. I dont kno much about traditional divorce proceedings and wud appreciate any inside info any of u guys may hav. All I kno is dat de mother often keeps de kids now a days howeva I also kno dat b4 Somalis migrated into de West it was usually de father who kept de kids as they had his name-what has brought about dis change and wat significance does it hold??

  4. Originally posted by S.O.S: Black: what can I say this is truly a timeless colour. And its a much darker and more mysterious colour than white (none of that goody goody crap) Damn u just gav a true and suitable practically perfect definition of wat Black means to me, its my colour! I wear black wiv anythin! I dont think I can remember EVA leavin my house once without wearin at least 1 item which is black! Most of my trainers (sneakers) are black too-I cant stand white trainers. My addiction to wearin black is soo bad dat a friend of mine recently asked me whether or not I was mournin because everytime he'd see me Id be wearin black Originally posted by S.O.S: I use to like blue along time ago and then everyone started liking it... I seriously kno wat u mean howeva Im a very dedicated and loyal blue supporter, lool. Ocean Blue or de colour of de original Somali flag-dats my favourite colour to look at!

    Dream wedding

Like Shyhem I believe dat today's type of weddings are not just a waste of money but also a big sin which surely u cud live wivout. Insha Allah when I get married I am not planning to hav a big wedding of any sort. We'll hav our mehr and then we'll do wat any other couple shud do i.e get to kno each other on a different level by goin on a honeymoon for 2 or 3 weeks. We both hav similar ambitions which include travelling the world together but as we're both students finishing off our degrees will be a priority and once we've found a place to settle down Insha Allah (a good job and a house) we'll start building a family (if Allah wills) Its obvious dat money aint de issue as we're Somalis and most of us hav supportive families who are willin to giv a hand & its not like you cant get a loan or sumthin but gettin into debt is one of the main causes of marital breakdown! Now a days u see soo many couples who hav had a fairytale wedding yet after a few months they start arguing and mite even divorce after a few years and wat for..wat did they gain by havin dat weddin....Other than dembi?? Was it worth it?? I am a great believer in doin everythin for myself & I do not like takin handouts I as a Muslim always wants to hav de upperhand in a Sekhat situation instead of de bottom (receivin) hand. I dont want my (Me & my future husband's) house to be all ready for us to move into once we finish uni coz its somethin I as an individual want to accomplish its one of my goals and gettin sum1 else to complete it for me wont give me de same satisfaction. When I get married Insha Allah I want to build my own life wiv de man whom I will marry and no1 else! Also marriage is de halfway mark of completing one's religion and how can u complete ur religion by a big sinna feast of a weddin??
  7. I agree wiv S.O.S a lil too coz I find de whole thing kinda strange. I mean first it was de * 9/11 then * war against de Taliban in Afghanistan * usual bombs in Israel by Palestinians & then revenge * Bringin Peace 2 de Iraqis by bombin de most influencial buildings + rippin dem off several 1000s of years worth of history *FINALLY SARS Its just funny to me how de whole media business is steadily increasin from constantly bringin us live reports from all ova de world about de most controversial stories. I cant say I dont believe de SARS is out there as such but the media is manipulatin its significance greatly and people all ova de world are now paranoid and wear protective gear (gas masks) which in real fact wont protect them from anythin (for more than 30minutes!) Just picture how happy de gas mask manufacturers are rite now!! Wat next?? At the end of the day we'll all die so wats de big deal?? I mean wat do u prefer dying from American bombs or SARS?? Maybe this whole SARS thing is only blown out of proportion so we can forget about all de innocent people still suffering from the bombs dropped in Iraq! Think about it..
  8. Ali-Somali wud u eva let by-gones be by-gones?? Wat r u gainin from penalisin Najmo? Dats de problem wiv Somalis today sum1 says sumthin and whether or not its their own words they hav 2 b hammered down, Y is it us Somalis hav problems wiv sharin joy and being happy for one another?? Conflict from de most un-important things like who originally wrote wat Najmo shared wiv us is wats dividin Somalis as a whole! I've said it b4 and I'll say it again I'm Somali and since Somalia happens to be the Horn of Africa Im African FULLSTOP! Who cares about history datin back more than 100's of years? It wont make a difference 4 2day will it?? Or wud ya'll run 2 de Arabs and thank them or find out who ur related to shud it be discovered dat we're indeed linked to Arabs?? At least we as Somalis can names upto 15 or 20 forefathers which is more than many other countries can do. I mean why dont ya'll ask wat makes an American an American? After all they hav a shorter history than we hav right??
  9. I swear dis is de weirdest topic I hav yet seen!
  10. Barwaaqo I dont kno much about makin xalwo but I remember helpin my mum make it and I swear it takes HOURS!! U have to walaaq and walaaq and walaaq until not only ur fingers feel numb but until u cant feel ur arm or ur entire upper body, lol (but dats only if ur makin sumthin like 7kgs) Grey M&M Im in ure boat too my friend & I like makin pasta wiv a mince meat sauce this is very simple just put sum oil in a fryin pan when dat has heated a lil add sum onions and then de meat after a lil while add sum tomatoes, herbs, spices and any other vegetable+salt to taste u like and take it off wheneva u think de sauce is ready (if u wana speed the length of time required to cook it pour sum boilin water ova de minced meat prior to adding it to de pan. Im sure u kno how to make pasta but incase u dont read de instructions on de back of de product-also use a fryin pan instead of a pot/digsi because u get a larger surface area in general when u use a fryin pan+u fry rather than cook/boil so de end result tastes better-also add sum powder gravy to de sause dis will thicken it and add extra taste) Another easy thing is buy sum meat, cut it into cubes and using de same sort of method as above cook urself sum suqaar & u can hav dis wiv eiher rice or pasta (howeva for rice alternatively make de cubes a lil bigger) Shujui-1 ur a JOKA! I hav started to like beans wiv tuna on toast for sum strange reason its real good coz I dont like beans on its own & I like fish. Scrambled egg wiv toast is also sumthin I hav every now and then but the main things I eat are cornflakes (boy I can hav dis for breakie, for dinner as a quick snack in other words just about anytime of de day or nite when I feel a lil peckish!) Ooh and plain toast wiv butter or wiv peanut butter(rarely), nutella-chocolate spread, cheese. So de 2 things I cant live wivout at de moment are Toast and Cornflakes (hence milk) Pot noodles I think u get tired of them after a while coz I remember when I just moved into de campus dat was all I had.
  11. I did just like I cried for de people of Palestine Islamic countries are always being opressed by the West especially America!! But I was taught dat we as Muslims will live the hell of life while non-believers live de paradise of life howeva Insha Allah when we die we shall enjoy de paradise of the Hereafter and the non-believers (if Allah wills) shall find themselves in everlasting hell. In other words wat goes around comes around (in the hereafter)
  12. MaLikah wat do u think about 50 Cents 21 Questions??
  13. Brown_Sugah I agree I think the phrase "The Grass is always greener on de other side"(unknown) comes in quite handy!
  14. Thanx Shujui-1 I neva knew u spoke 2 Northerner too I kinda like de fella we hav certain things in common (howeva his mail-box is full) Obviously u (Shujui-1) get top marks too especially for de way organise urself. 15. They're brilliant!
  16. Insha Allah I want to go there again I went to Somaliland last summer and it was de best holiday dat money could buy, there are soo many things we take for granted in 2days society and goin there made me realise just how badly we're needed to help rebuild our land and we cud all help by simply buyin land and settin up homes for us to visit durin holidays or indeed for other family members who reside in Somalia can use! There are soo many things happening there, u'd b truely amazed & sumtimes it hurts me to read when fellow Somalis say they'd neva return but I think our land is better wivout them coz they aint NOWHERE in de world were we will be truely accepted than in Somalia & I kno from 1st hand experience (even though ur born in a country-u wont necessarily b accepted as one of them) The goodness our land has to offer is endless and its soo obvious dat u even see European people there makin money out of our raw materials! WHY OOO WHY do we let this happen??
  17. kcabuji I honestly didnt believe dat Arsenal would win Leeds as we all kno Leeds is de sort of team dat likes to surprise ppl, they often draw or even win big clubs yet they may loose to less able teams! This just adds to their glory and Man Utd shud thank Leeds big time for showin Arsenal that they are de biggest team of braggers brought together under Arsène Wenger! Im happy dat Man Utd won b'coz now my other half can be happy for another year!
  18. I completely agree wiv Northerner its bout lack of education and ignorance to a certain extend coz it doesnt take a scientist to figure out dat bleach is bad for ur sensitive facial skin! Hav u guys eva read de back of normal household detergents I mean even washin up liquid states dat u shud avoid prolonged contact wiv it and dat u shud wash ur hands properly after use now imagine bleach!
  19. Yeah Im positive its even been proven! He is The-1-&-Only!! Bruva I hate to break it 2 u like dis but if u aint seen a faithful Somali Queen yet well wat can I say... It must be a sign dat sumthin aint rite Ooh and also u aint seen me dats 4shu! Peace & Luv makes de world go round

  21. Dont be soo scared I dont bite! Anyways to answer ur questions I dont need to tease my man as such coz he aint playin no games u c he aint a boy!! My favorite positions are ANY position as long as its wiv my man! Coz he's de 1&ONLY person who truly rocks my world. U c sum1 has to be on top. Well I hav male friends but once they think they hav a slight chance of gettin on top of me, dats when they start wishin dat they'd neva met me! The key ladies is get to kno wat they (men) are thinkin before they think it or b4 they act on it, then play along but show them ur always in control! My true male friends are few but the one's I hav are truely respectful & down 2 earth. Not many men get my full respect! U hav 2 earn it

But I wish them de best. I also wish England good so may de best team win.
