Mexico were actually the better team (as I predicted) and they had problems with scoring (as I predicted). Having said that, I reckon SA might sneak through, depending on other results. They remain the weakest team in that group (from what I've seen so far). France have the team but they need to get their act together. Then again, they are not likely to face the same stubborn defence as the one they met tonight. War kubbada barta.
  2. ^^^ (what does it mean though?)
  3. As predicted. Mexico are running the show but are struggling to score. South Africa are not totally useless. In fact, if South Africa fluke a goal they might hold on all the way to the end.
  4. ^^ jokoromabiibo ma cay ba? Tell me now so that I can scowl at her.
  5. ^^ (I didn't grown up in Africa, I watch nature shows, afrikaan waaxid).

  7. ^^ It's a dung beetle. Anyway, think of K'anaan's flag waving and try to recall your tears from last night or something. Maxa kaa galay SA?
  8. ^^ It is not full. GG, I understand the tickets for the opening cermoney are different from those for the games. The stadium might yet fill up. And anyway, when was the last tournment that had a great opening cermoney?
  9. ^^ You will live to regret your badmouthing of Benitez warya. The opening cermoney was rubbish. I do hope the lack of crowds is not an indication of things to come (maybe South Africa should win their opening game after all - fat chance of course).
  10. ^^ I did not declare myself anything (that would be arrogant of me, dear). The honour was passed on to me by default (since nobody here knows much about football). I may have misspelt the name of Marquez. But you probably still don't know him.
  11. Serenity, your whole attitude that evening hurt my feelings. (but this was a gift, I did not seek it or ask for it). Seeker, did they have schools in sijui land? Schools with football teams waliba? Iga daa yaaakhi. P.S. I'm not asking you not to watch the football, girls (though that would be prefrable), I'm just asking you to keep the noise down. My hands are already full with trying to teach the guys about football to have to explain the aerodynamic importance of Marquise's ponytail (do you know who I'm talking about by the way?).
  12. Norf, I did use such analysis when talking about Liverpool. You just were not paying attention. Liverpool was (is) a great team that simply suffered a blip last season. It certainly is not silly South Africa, badow yaho. P.S. Your favourite Liverpool manager has met and donated 96,000 to the Hillsborough Family Group when he was supposed to be at Milan taking over his new job. It's a shame he's gone. A real shame.
  13. ^^ An American school's soccer team does not count as real football. You probably took corners with your hands. Kubbada baro.
  14. ^^ They are the lowest ranked team in the tournment. Out of a squad of 23, sixteen are based at home (heh heh). They are managed by the great Carlos Alberto who got Kuwait, the UAE and Saudi Arabia to the world cup but never got them past the group stage. Oh, and they did not take Benni with them. They are playing against a team that keeps position with the class and aplomb of Barcelona (though struggle to score). Why in the world do you think they may win this game? I'm "keeping it real" as the kids would say.
  15. ^^ Who, Mexico? It's not about them playing better, it's really about their opposition. Kubbada baro.
  16. ^^ Naah, no chance of that. It's only Mexico against some Africans.
  17. Originally posted by Resistance: I have to admit seeing K'naan on national TV waving the flag braught to tears to my ears . he made the crowd go wild. You didn't like the song then?
  18. I am getting a Carl Lewis treadmill delivered this evening (it was a gift). Planning to watch the game as I run. P.S. Girls, if you must watch the world cup, can you please do so quietly.
  19. Almost there now. Mexico and France wins is my guess.
  20. What's wrong with google today? Ugly pictures everytime.
  21. ^^ I have no idea. Norf might be able to help there.

  23. It's not a hairdo, Azizah. It is a kind of hijab. And, you don't have to tell me how you wear yours. I know it's a tiny bandana with a dead fox wraped around it.
  24. ^^ My second team is England of course. But I also have a soft spot for Italy, Brazil and Maradona (not his team but him). As for the Liverpool players it all really depends on the new manager and how he sells his vision to him. But I'm surprised Benitez would want Mascherano when he already has Campiaso!
  25. ^^ It is related to hairdos and hijabs. It's natural to ask you how you wear yours. There is nothing ceeb or rude in that (I hope).
