Financial times: Somaliland could be force for good in Horn of Africa
NGONGE replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
In support of independence, a 2005 African Union report pointed out that the union in 1960 between Somaliland and Somalia was never formally ratified. Excitingly on July 9 South Sudan will become an independent new state and the Juba government has already stated it will recognise a sovereign Somaliland . In all probability this will result in other AU countries following suit. Hmmm! -
^^ They're not older than the Milan team that won the triple last season or the other Milan team that is topping the Italian league this season. That argument about Chelsea being old is rubbish, man. Have they got anyone over the age of 34 in that team? Chelsea just lost their aura and it'll take them time to regain it. Still a good team though. p.s. They need a playmaker if the manager insists on playing three strikers but if he plays with two their same old plan should work fine.

^^ It's like you have not read a word of what I wrote above. The old man's call for peace now is in response to the Imam's promise of war the other day. Pure and simple politics and in keeping with the plan. You mean you didn't expect it?

Sticking to the plan righ to the better end (or was it bitter?). Good stuff, Mr president.

Gheelle.T;697016 wrote: The good NG is trying to convince us that there is no clan elements in this war, when the reality on the ground tells us it's all about clan clan warfare. If this was about SL army fighting a political dissident group (SSC) that doesn't want to part SL ( as he puts it,) how come there is no single soldier from DHL on SL army? Why did inna Dalbac defected? Why inna Cambaarshe (or whatever his name is) and his local clan militia(loyal to SL thus far) not joining on the SL side? Waar ninyahow naga daa dee. I'm not trying to convince you anything, saaxib. I'm telling it as it is. Clan is everything and there is a very strong clan stench to all of this (on both sides). However, things are not as you want to paint them and you know it. Keep reading. A_Khadar;697019 wrote: Who are they, the Somaliland army? Are they AMISOM? Mercenaries? And do tell us the differences between the local militia who started digging wells in Kalshale and somaliland army? Why Silanyo said, my militia will be based on that area? They are two sides of one coin both same clan. Adigiibaa kuwii internetka beentoodi kadaran wadee... <O:p</O:p Here, walk with me a little and let me show you the scene as things stand and do me a favour please, if you see GT losing interest and trying to look at flying bees or other nonsense, try to bring him back to us, saaxib. First let us do the simple stuff and set out the parts we agree on. 1- Most SL soldiers come from the main SL clan. 2- The SSC does not want to be part of SL (I would say that's a temporary situation but since we are only talking about things we agree on, I shall let that drop in this part). 3- There was a fight over water in Kaashale. 4- Xaabsade and others are taking the SL part in this. I would be surprised if you are not in agreement with me thus far (though you probably pulled a face at the mention of Xaabsade). Now let us mix those ingreidents together and see if we can get us something that will fill all our tummies. I say (and here, I use facts, declarations by SL/PL/SSC, politics and simple common sense) that only the SSC are the ones trying to turn this into a clan war. My president (mudane madaxweyne Siilaanyo xafidahu Allah) has not played the clan card yet (and is unlikely to ever do so). Land grabbing, in the form that the SSC Mujahideen portray it also is not and has never been a policy of SL (unless you want to confuse sub clans fighting over water with a self-declared republic's need to control its borders). On the part of the SSC, the water dispute has been a god send. You know and I know that they have been agitating for a fight ever since LA came under the control of SL (which, by the way and no matter how many times you shout "caluushood o shaqiistayal" was done with the agreement and support of a significant number of SSC kin living in that city). Now, even without the water dispute we all knew that sooner or later, SSC were going to mount some sort of armed challanged to SL. We also knew that they were going to turn it into a clan war whilst turning a blind eye to the active involvement of the SL supporting Xaabsade and various other prominent blood relatives. It is an understandable, obvious and profitable policy in Somalia. It's also exactly the same policy the Imam is trying to use now that a few people started demonstrating in his corner of the world. IT WORKS. However, is it logical or reasonable for SL to fight a clan war? Again, you already know the answer to this question. So what happend in Kaashale and how did things get to this point? The sub clans fought, the odayaal tried to engineer a peace deal and the SSC lot reneged on the agreement. Siilaanyo sent his army to sit between the two warring sub clans and BOOM! SSC got their chance. Now comes the politics bit. It so happens that the SL army is mainly made of SL's main clan and it so happens that one of the warring sub clans (in the water dispute) happens to also belong to the same clan, however, not until the army activly takes part in the conflict and start the shooting could it be accused of waging a clannish war. Did it? Have they? Not at all, they sat there and waited for the "nabaddiids" to attack them. How many times were they attacked? How many operations did the SSC carry out in the past without any retaliation? Why aren't the land grabbers hitting back? Miya la iska hadlaa, saaxib? Clan is everything and Siilaanyo knows that the interests of his clan lie in the winning of the hears and minds of the SSC, not waging clan war against them (though he would have tried that at a simple drop of a hat had it been in his interests). Abaar ba jirta ayaa la yedhi lakin dee abaarto wali may gaadhin madaxtooyada SL, ya naas. Taleexi;697007 wrote: Bring it on Ngonge-ow. You nailed it squarely I may add. If your clan enclave can own other clans in the area and align them into her liking remains to be seen Nobody owns anybody, saaxib. Ciyaal internet ka qayliyaa iyo odayaal asaasaqay uun ba waxa ku hadla, you and I own SL (though you don't see it that way today). I'd say 'watch this space' but you may misread me and shout 'land grabbing' again.

^^ They are blaming it on Iran supporters. Talking of Iran, did you see the cheek of Ahmdinajad in supporting the Arab revolutions when only recently he was the one putting out a revolution in his own country. Politics is fun ninyaho. All the despots use exactly the same arguments against those opposing them (traitors, spies, etc).
-
^^ Naah. Asad got in there before them all and gave his son the presidency before the fashion of rejecting such sons started. Yemen and a couple of other North African countries next. P.S. Have you noticed how the free, progressive Al Jazeera has not been covering the Bahrin events as much as other Arab countries?

I now expect Farole to go on the airwaves again and declare a state of emergency.

^^^ We may just make it this season. Here is King Kenny and his latest purchase at a Boyzone concert (true story).

Plus Silanyo is supporting the other worriors which is a clear indication of clan fight. In the part of silly statements made, all clan sites both sides and your so called officials are making these foolish and dump statements. The fight is between local Cayns vs SNM (aka somaliland).. Adeer dee beenta internetka lago qoro iga daa. This has never been about little sub clans fighting over water. If it were, the SL army that was placed in the middle to stop them from fighting would not have been attacked. You know and I know that SSC wanted to esclate the situation and have a head on fight with SL, becuase as you know and I know, SSC was not created as a result of the Kaalshale dispute but BEFORE it. Marka "land grabbing" and other nonsense is the stuff that you tell your warriors to gee them up and get them to fight, aniga beenta ha iga iibin, saaxib. This is a straightforward political dispute; SL wants to control all of its border and SSC (for now) does not want to be part of SL. Ma wax kale ayaa jira?

Peace Action;696777 wrote: NG Who is fumbling badly? Your uncle Silaanyo wuxuu dhexgalay dagaal qabiil to support his own subclan, what is wrong with the old. This is a lose lose situation and nothing good can come of it and I am afraid SL will lose Laascaano let alone Kalshaale. Heh. I didnt' know that anyone would be upset about that 'fumbling farole' thread of mine. Still, can't really say that Silaanyo is fumbling (yet). The SSC issue was there before he took over and it was going to come to a head sooner or later. So far, other than the army routinly fighting back hit and run attacks, the president himself has not come out with silly statements or promises of total annihilation of SSC. "Dagaal qabiil ayuu dhix galay" is what the SSC tell each other to gee their troops and is not the reality on the ground. By the way, how long before the Imam decides to take over LA? I thought it was going to be on the twelvth anniversary of the creation of PL? Thirteenth now? Dee naga daa.

Hasn't that always been the case. However, naga daa this talk of innocent civilians now. SSC are brave warriors fighting (rightly or wrongly) to "free" their land and they are fighting other brave warriors who are also fighting to "free" their land. As long as they're all "fighters" there are no innocent civilians.

^^ Interesting? Surely that's par for the course for an opposition leader.

^^ Hatuuf been badana ninyaho! (ma ONLF, Al Shabab iyo PL ayaa SSC gacan siinaya?). This news reporting is getting real silly now.

Heh@LST. I knew the Imam's bout of common sense would not last that long. There he goes again back to his sabre rattling ways. The question, of course, is how is he going to go about this? All out war is unlikely since it's not in his or PL's (long term) interests to wage a full on war. What then? Paying lip service to the crowd but doing nothing? That too is not going to work! Furthermore, will the SSC leadership allow him to usurp the lead here? The Imam is in a real fix here and a bit of istikhaara salaat is in order. p.s. Melez talow muxu yedhi?
-
LST, so far so good but you know what the Imam is like. If those scenes repeat themselves for a few more days he'll start the carpet bombing. On the other hand, the Imam is an intelligent and educated man who (though never practising it) knows the importance of democracy and the voice of the people. This tiny demo might just be the nudge he needed to curb his mad posturing.

Arsenal were all over him all game and it was mostly how they won most of their counterattacks. Xavi, as you saw, compeleted most of his passes and Arsenal hardly got the ball of him. YET, Arsenal won. Dee bahasha barta ya naas. Wan idin kugo xiiqay wale. p.s. Legend, put Lucas in that Arsenal team and he'll be your star man. Young JW has potential but not yet the awareness and overall discipline fo a Lucas (who, I'm telling you today, will be the Brazil captain in 2014).

Got to admit my surprise at the Imam's reaction (so unlike him). Still, PL does not really need a revolution as such. It simply needs a system in place that curbes the excesses of the Imam (that's all). Onwards and upwards anyway. Oh, "free SSC" & "Improve security" make no sense, duqa.

Speaking of freedom, Al Jazeera and Arabs; right at this moment there is a demo taking place in London. It is organised by Libyans in London and is taking place opposite the Libyan Embassy. Al Jazeera, the TV news organisation that scours the world for such things does not have to bother flying reporters in (or out). Al Jazeera's London branch is in the building right next door to the embassy! The demo consists of two groups (pro and, of course, anti government). They are seperated by a tiny police presence but are mostly well behaved anyway. It has been interesting watching their chants and crazy slogans. The group that are pro government are singing (full with music, loud speakers and band). The other group are cursing. At one point, the anti government group started shouting "FREEDOM, FREEDOM, FREEDOM!" Quick as a flash the others (the bigger group) replied "We rather die than have freedom". Heh.

^^ Exactly. But, even there, you'll meet loads of Somalis. Anyway, if you look around you'll find loads of nice hotels in discreet corners (even in Deerah).
