^^ A&T, they have more sperm ba la yedhi, not more "energy" (as the old Somali recording would have said). It is obvious that those with deep voices have better quality control when it comes to producing sperm.

Salaam Juxa. It's a strange day indeed. Hada waa January!

Henry scored a wonderful goal but he doesn't look fit at all. Doubt if Wenger is going to use him that much. p.s. We're going to beat City tonight. Someone tell Norf.

^^ Xaasidsanid, Aaliyaah. Mooge starts this thread and wishes war for your lot but when YOU come to talk about war, you put his group second and pick on us first. p.s. I shall not comment on the conference until it ends and we see the resolutions. Anything before that is just trolling.

Norf will be happy. I foresee a Eurotrash exodus.

Heh. The Imam strikes again. (It's a shame really. He's been doing positive things lately and there hardly been any faux pas).

Norf, sarrifka Maaddeey ayaa kuu haya...

^^ No thanks. Marko i gaado ayuu odhan "it's the Somali way and it's not rude". Naga daaya.

N.O.R.F;772128 wrote: Bow bow. It would determine if the guy ku salaamay was actually rude according to other Somalis or if its just you're sensitivities Wow, you read minds? The way the old man addressed the waitor and the way the guy ku salaamay are completely different. The guy wasn't rude to you (waabu ku salaamay). You don't get the Somali greetings and its variations. The old man was just rude towards the waitor. We can get a sample from the nomads. The threads asks 'if' Somalis are rude. We BOTH acknowledge some of them are (keep up now). Fulay! I don't read minds, I follow logical arguments. Wax fahan. What will your poll be? That someone saying to a group of strangers "wa la idin salaamy" is not rude? Wala xawla! But if it make you happy, go ahead and have your poll, it'll mean that I'll have a bigger class to teach, that's all. p.s. I aknowledge that, like any other nationality, we too have rude Somalis. You on the other hand are trying to argue the meaning of rudeness. Two different things, adeer.

N.O.R.F;772118 wrote: Dee thats the point I've been making. YOU thought it was rude. Your mates didn't. Your example is subjective. I would wager that most nomads wouldn't find it rude (Poll?). Actually, I will do a poll (including the other examples). Lets put this to bed. Sheekadaado waa "hada ma wajadna caleeh aabaa'ona" War I don't need a poll done. The title of your argument is that Somalis are rude. How can I accept a 'poll' conducted purly amongst Somalis to determine if something is rude or not? As for that being the point. It is actually not. When the old man spoke "rudely" to the Indian waiter, you did not get annoyed becuase he was being rude (for you freely admit that such rudeness is normal amongst Somalis), you only objected to a strictly Somali habit being applied to an 'outsider' and how this outsider will view you. Pay attention.
-
^^ You are crazy, adeer. You moan about our people being rude to others yet accept that same rudness when it takes place amongst Somalis because, and here is your mad logic, it's a "common salaan". Well, in that case, the old man that shouted "“Oi warya, you, hindi, you, tea, now, now” does the same thing when he's ordering tea from a Somali waiter. Why accept one and not the other? Politeness is not something that happens to you, it is something that you are taught, saaxib. I don't care if Sheikh Sharif, Siilaanyo or Faroole come to me with the words "wa la idin wada salaamay". I know who they are and know they are Somali but since I do not have a personal relationship with them, I would still consider it rude if they greeted me with such words. There are no two ways about it, there is no Somali way here. Well, not unless the Somali way is to be rude to everyone and YOU accept it (I'll refuse of course but I'll understand your 'way of life'). Wax fahan.

^^ Without the descriptions about how Val looks, I still say that lady is NOT Val. Because I know if Val was giving a speech in that conference it is likely to go something like this (with brackts and all): "The path of SSC is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish (Imam) and the tyranny of evil men (SL). Blessed is he (Xaglatuusiye) who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am VAL when I lay my vengeance upon you." p.s. Vengeance in this instance is probably a rolling of the eyes. (With apologies to QT).
-
^^ He didn't know any of us warya. Are you now telling me what happened? You can't on the one hand argue that Somalis are rude yet make exceptions for their over-familiar attitudes on the other hand. Wax fahan.

N.O.R.F;772052 wrote: We're going around in circles here. I said such a greeting wasn't offensive to most Somalis. You said it was offensive to anyone. Now you've qualified that with 'it isn't offensive among friends'. To cut a long story short, you're again failing to see the greeting in the context of Somalis (who are all friends in a coffee shop and you were with his friends). Would it be rude if said to any other people? Probably but we are talking about a Somali greeting another Somali (different rules apply). Naga daa the universal nonsense So why don't you leave it to 'different rules apply' and stop accusing Somalis of being rude? War rude is rude. I do not consider it polite for a total stranger to speak to me in a familiar tone nor do most people. However, since you say Somalis are rude and you also argue that such greatings are normal amongst them, I fully distance myself from such company (as my action with the random greater proved). p.s. You know I am right, stop pulling my leg.

You would? Oh I wish you were me then.

^^ Warya, when it was about teaching you football, I thought "ok, they don't know how the game works and need a hand". When it was about teaching you politics, I thought "ok, they don't know how the game works and need a hand". But inaan edab idin wada baro waa khalad. FIX UP.

N.O.R.F;771997 wrote: Nonsense. The guys with you, were they not surprised at your reaction? Such a greeting is perfectly acceptable in Somali surrounding especially coffee shops. 'Waad saalamantahay' or 'waa lagu salaamay' or 'salaan sare' are all variations of greetings. You need to stop translating things back into English and understand the context. In this case he greeted but his alter ego told you about it (as a 3rd party). Disclaimer I'm no language expert. Look, don't mix things up here. Politness is a universal thing and is not Somali specific, saaxib. Many languages in the world even have different phrases and ways to great strangers as opposed to those you know (tous & vous in French, or something along those lines). In addition, when greating a friend and because there is prior familiarity, one can use whatever form of greating there is (some young guys even fart at each other as a form of greating). However, just becuase your mates great you with "waa la idin wada Salaamay" does not mean it is the same greating you need to use around anyone and everyone you meet. If you're going to start a thread that pokes fun at the rudeness of Somali you first need to understand how a polite person should behave in public, ya geel jire.
