^^ Rubbish. In most polite socities, a stranger greating people with "you have been greated" would raise an eyebrow or two. Nobody and I insist, nobody, would consider such a greating normal or acceptable (unless the person making the greating is either joking or a royal). p.s. No royal would make such a greating either. Wax fahan.

^^ How does one prove that they own the property if the government declares the documents fake? How can ordinary citiezens keep hold of their fairly owned property if a dodgy government official decides to collar it? War Siilaanyo wan iska nacay.

^^ When you say "one and all", you mean Somalis. But you are the same person asking if Somalis are rude! Rude is rude, adeer. There is nothing polite about a stranger coming into a place and informing a group of strangers that they have been greated. Nothing. p.s. Malika, it's not me dee it's the other two. I admited to my caseer drinking already. Though it does look like I'm the only one with mannars here.

^^ Guru, Val is now a married lady and married ladies should not become the topic of discussion for any passing admirers, even if the admiration is deserved. As ever, our hopless A&T forgot to update his database and is now mistaking Mrs Ninka-qaba with the pretty single girls that infest this site. There was a time when we spoke directly with impressive Val, but now it has to strictly be from behind a curtain. Wax fahma. p.s. Where is Serenity these days?

The guy that Norf mentions in his original post was also "going with the flow" and it is just the "Somali way". Come on boys make your minds up. Something is either rude or it isn't. One makes no allowances for the type of company one keeps. Wax fahma.

^^ How long is this predicted to last and are you planning to post some extracts from the speeches (I don't want what Liibaan does ).

^^ Again, I gave a perfect explanation above to how i view the phrase. Challange it should you feel like it ama come sit next to me and lets see the how the proper linguists here can explain the issue, saaxib. Cawar baad tahay ee ishaada bidix ha ku faanin, ana tii midigta ba waxbaan ku arkaa.

For if I want to apply it I have to trust those that are applying it, saaxib. Having looked at their way of working and their obsession with nonsense I can't reasonably believe them to apply the shareecah fairly or with any semblance of wisdom, saaxib. This goes way beyond banning football or such small & irrelevant matters. Zayt wa daqeeq, saaxib, zayt wa daqeeq. Yaa inoo kala saari kara? asxaabak waa 'shobha' socota dee.

I'd love to hear what the NSS agent was saying as he was conducting the chase. How many nacla and how many wareer badna (yes, I already have tuujiye behind the wheel in my mind's eye).

^^ What he/she/it said. Cawaale;770932 wrote: Ngonge, Waa la idin wada salaamay means literally "You all have been greeted" Hadaba why would u say "You and.."? I fail to see why you have chosen to ask that? I mean the sensible question here would be "Me and.." instead of "You and.."..Illayn the man said "Waa la idin wada salaamay" NOT "Waan idin wada salaa N ay. Wax fahan:) Was it Nuune whom you asked the a question, he usually has invisible company most of the time. "You all have been greated" begs the question "by whom?", saaxib. The person that greated us is there and I can already see him but since he chose not to do it himself by saying "waan idin wada salaamay", the assumption (and a valid one at that) is that he's speaking on behalf of others or, which is the proper reason, he's using the royal 'we'. Arrinto marka micniheedo waa "ii wada kaca oo dhulkan iga horyeeya fiiqa ama nadiifiya, boqor baan ahay". To ask "adiga iyo?" puts him in his place by forcing him to meekily explain his words (I also use the same method with qolada jecel the phrase "waxa la yedhi", usually they end up confessing "aniga idhi"). Admittedly, Somali isn't my strong point and I could (though i doubt it) be wrong. Wax fahan.

I said this in that thread about the girls that beat the English lady. Applies here too. Kala baxa ya naas. NGONGE;764011 wrote: Kii heesay "Dadka ha iska weyneen" been buu sheegay... Dadkan waa qashin, xasheesh, kudaafa... You can look at this thing from two angles; the first is the "nationalist" one and the second is the "class" angle. Nationalist: In order to be proud of your origin and those that share such an origin with you, one must accept that no nation exists without having its various good and bad apples. For if a nation or a group of people were all good they would suspiciously look incomplete. On the other hand, if they were all bad (as the Daily Mail would love to portray us) something would also be wrong with that image; how can there not be one single nice/good/virtuous person amongst them? This is why a proud Somali nationalist should (in theory) rejoice when he hears of university graduates, world class athletes, models, atheists or prostitutes and drunks. A nation must have the full spectrum of characters and social achievements/ills. For how else could we revere the good without having the bad to compare them against? How could we encourage the young to achieve if we can’t point at a street drunk and say “or else that’s how you’ll end up”? How do you stop young girls from becoming teenage single mothers without having actual teenage single mothers to show them? Abhor what these girls do, moan about it and condemn it. But, as a proud Somali, be happy that you can put a tick next to the ‘drunken girls’ criteria in your national checklist . Class: The above does not clash with the feeling of total repugnance and abhorrence of these lowlifes. Your lifestyle, your education and your upbringing should allow you to distance yourself from such trash. Yes they are Somali and yes they might be related to someone or other on this site but, YES, they remain trash. If life is about achievement and respect then one must put in the hours and hard work to earn one or both. Of course, there is no harm in spending a couple of seconds patronising a glue-sniffer or drunk. But it should never mean that you’re on the same level or that you’re equal. There is no political correctness here. Once they choose to class themselves as drunk/druggies or sluts you are under no obligation to give them any respect and your default standing position should be one where you’re looking down. Our problem is that we mix with anyone and everyone. Kala baxa ya naas. Tuug iyo wadaad should not sit in the same maqaaxi, be seen in the same weddings or attend the same fuenral. And, if they do, let it be made clear where each stands socially. Wa la kala sareeya but if we all stand next to each other who is ever going to look up? Wax fahma.

^^ ...the examples you give are of sub-clans breaking from the main block and going it alone. SUB-CLANS! You clutch at straws when the reality of the Somali situation is staring you right in the face. When Faroole talks about 'bililiqsi', when SSC are sitting together right now to see how they can salvage their clan's future, when Horn is posting threads talking about his clans areas being free of Al Shabab, etc, etc, etc.. Nothing to do with absolutism and all to do with reality. Khashaafka jooji saaxib, you too are not a college kid.

^^ My argument is water tight, saaxib. Bal taada mar uun ha hagaagto (trust me, if you come clean you'll have some powerful arguments to fall back on, not to mention clarity).

^^ Al Shabab are a one-off, saaxib (I'm not sure about Ahlu el sunta though). For the rest, is yeelyeelka jooji warya. You really can't keep speaking with both sides of your mouth in such a way, saaxib. Here you tell me that clans are not everything but on threads about Azania you argue that this is a clannish project, on threads about SSC you praise the SSC clans for finally sitting down and talking, on threads about SL you moan about the "SNM's" clannish project, etc, etc, etc.. Adeer khashaafka jooji and come out in the open. Only such 'liberation' will free you to express your opinions more openly and they may (just may) begin to make sense. p.s. The examples you give are neither here nor there really. Splitting hairs over clans or sub-clans being everything only goes on to prove the point, saaxib.

^^ The president, prime minster, speaker and defence minister were not/are not there for the blackness of their eyes, adeer. Doesn't 4.5 mean anything to you anymore? Eeg, Xiin, beenta aan iska joojino saaxib. Somali is built on clans and EVERYTHING revolvs around this concept. Don't let the fact that this site has banned the mention of clans blind you to what takes place out there in the real world. It has always been about clans and the solution to the Somali problem will never come from any place other than the clans themselves. Now, as a Somali who grew up in Somali to deny such an obvious fact would mean two things; either you're lying or you fell and hit your head as a child (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and go with number two here). Hadaba maqal, beentaan aad ko nooshiheen in SOL joojiya and tell it as it is. Look over on that thread where A&T and Zack are singing the ONLF praises and the coming deal with Ethiopia; are A&T and Zack just Somali? NOPE, they are from the clan that put the O in front of the NLF. So that's three (in addtion to PL & SL),..ma wada? War I'm going home. Bal think of a new and original argument for when I come back. Salaam.
