1. @OdaySomali said: That's too bad 'cuz I do one mean dhaanto Appealing to my nascent tribalism, huh? I'm tempted, my guy is from jaandheer-land and I much prefer my dhaanto
2. @OdaySomali said: Safferz if you need a date to this wedding, I might be able to make myself available, what d'y say! I'm flattered OdaySomali, but I already have a date
3. What the hell have you people done to my thread?
4. @SomaliPhilosopher said: Nowadays if it feels like a "mixed gender" wedding that means it is YOUR wedding. lol MY wedding, SP? That would mean that there's a man out there crazy enough to marry me, and that I'm crazy enough to agree to a life in bondage
5. This one looks nice too, but it looks like they managed to control their guest list lol. So organized, numbered tables and seating assignments
6. I know the "women" sub-forum is where threads like this generally go, but there's more traffic in the general sub-forum Can you describe some of the mixed gender Somali weddings you've attended? How did they organize it? Were people comfortable enough to dance (thinking of the islaamo and their buraanbur and other stuff too, was that still done with men present?)? I don't go to weddings often so I'm curious about how this all works. I came across this video that seems to have pulled it off well, but it looks like they had a men's event at the masjid for the nikah and a women's only bridal shower (where shaash saar and all took place) ahead of a mixed reception. But would it be possible to do it all in one event? Asking for a friend...
7. @Tallaabo said: It is not just Maansoor, the whole country has a very bad internet connection. But I think all the major cities and towns in Somaliland will have fiber optic connection by the end of this year if they don't delay it yet again. I thought the internet in SL was quite good. Amazing actually, when you compare it to internet in Ethiopia.
8. Beautiful, can't wait to go back.
9. Looks great. But do visit Hargeisa's airport and tell them it's the most developed in Somalia, I'm sure they'll love to hear that.
10. He's definitely a strong orator and a charming politician, and I enjoyed the first part of the speech where he is firm about the indigeneity and belonging of Somalis to Kenya, given a political climate where they are perceived as perpetual outsiders and unwanted foreigners in the country. But the later part of the speech is the same old, asking Somalis to dismantle their "supa pawa" squad, turn in the bombers, etc and trying to convince them that he will handle the police and state violence, as though he has ever represented their interests or has been anything but a government lackey in office.
11. @Tallaabo said: The wealth map reduced Africa to nothing more than the lower string of a thong worn by fat Europe!! lol! He's here all night, folks.
12. @galbeedi said: Dhagax-tuur, I am taking that advice. thanks. Please don't, this is your story and you can tell it however you wish.

14. I enjoyed reading, galbeedi. Keep it coming.
15. No problem! Here's an additional interview with Prof. Kapteijns to follow up on the program:
16. I read Tallaabo sentence just fine Xaaji, and I don't agree.
17. @Tallaabo said: It was also the home of Somali nationalism; the centre of Somali culture, literature, theatre, and music; and is a place which welcomes its visitors with open arms and heart. I love Hargeisa, but it is none of these things lol.
18. That was fun. I was hoping to get them all in under a minute, but close enough:
