  1. King-I really don’t see how the BIGGIES get more out of the system. Come on, these people are required to turn in their pay stub every month. I have no use to do research on it, but why don’t you share where you got the info from. 'welfare fraud invistigator' i doubt if you will survive long in that communitY welfare fraud invistigator--nah, most likely I wouldn't be able to make through a days of work. Rule #1 : Don't allow preconcieved prejudices, your local knowledge of clients, your ethnicity, background etc dictate your decisions. If I were to use my knowledge of the people I know, I would probably wouldn't have lasted at the job. I just make believe as if I don't know them and process on what is wriiten on paper.
  2. I have been working in the refugee services for about couple months. It’s not a bad job and I‘m grateful I can help the Somali people around here. The problem that makes my job dreadful is that you know most the Somali people, I wish I didn’t know them. Then I wouldn’t be paranoid about the lies I hear…. You will get someone who would come in and say I’m pregnant by my boyfriend and in dire need of help. I don’t know where he is now…. In reality the lady is happily married with a working husband. Of course they aren’t grateful for what they have. What’s up with this covetousness with so many Somalis? I hear the complaints of the many Somali people that live around here how they hate America and so on, and they should take advantage of the system as long as they are here. Cool, fine hate it. It doesn’t inconvenience me a bit. But does it give them the right to abuse the system. What message are they sending when they lie? How come they dont give a damn.  grrrrrrrrrr Bad day at work, venting off at SOL.
  3. Underdog There shouldn't be any need for flags. When xaliimos have a problem and need help-believe me they have no difficulty asking for it. Unless they ASK stay clear out of their way! I didn’t know saying NO, was such a problem for the guys in SOL. DnD Predators - LOL
  4. A better question would be what's wrong with you expecting a female to get in a car with two strangers? the brother is a somali guy Does that make him more or less of a stranger? If she should get in a car with Somali strangers, then there shouldn't be any thing wrong with any other strangers?

    hijabis

Mashallah, Its great. Wearing hijab always reminds of allah and our duty as muslimahs. Inshallah Allah will make it easy for you. Cotton abayas are the best for summer if you are planning on wearing them. Also as the sisters above said find a tailor who can sew clothes for you and you can go as creative as you like, thats the best part of making my own outfits. About the feet depends on your madhab some allow it, some dont-but its always best to cover it I have been told. Good luck

    Sorry double post
  7. ^^Sis if you are not scholar of Quran you will always need those who are to interpret them for you. Quran and sunnah go hand in hand, but the problem is the differences that arise from their interpertations, that is why their are so many madhabs.
  8. Maple Tree (Independence of Mind) — no ordinary person, full of imagination and originality, shy and reserved, ambitious, proud, self-confident, hungers for new experiences, sometimes nervous, has many complexities, good memory, learns easily, complicated love life, wants to impress. I gota say its atleast 98% true, but never know what others think. Caramel_Kisses Hon you aint really missing much not having your driver license, I've had my license since i was 16, and I feel like a cab driver who doesn't get paid. Is it hard to get license in UK?
  9. I never married, because there was no need. > > I have three pets at home which > > answer the same purpose as a husband. > > I have a dog that growls every morning, > > a parrot that swears all afternoon, > > and a cat that comes home late every night. > > > > -Marie Corelli- basically men are just like hmmmm you figure out I am a marvelous housekeeper. > > Every time I leave a man I keep his house. > > > > -Zsa Zsa Gabor- LOL

  11. Salaams It always helps me remember using the 5 rs when reading text. Read, Recite, “Rite”, Reflect and Review: It helps understand the usual boring books and do well on exams. Also taking good notes and asking questions really helps.

  15. A Muslim man to have more than one wife is a permission which is given to them in the Quran, not to satisfy lust, but for the welfare of the widows and the orphans of the wars. Somali men CAN'T get that through their head. No one has to tell me that most Somali men marry more than one wife to help women and children who are disadvantaged, but to their advantage. What angers me more, they have the guts to say they are practicing the sunnah of the prophet. PBUH What's worse they can't even support one let alone four, so instead solving the problems facing Somali mothers today, they add to it. I'm not against polygamy, but these Somali boys sure do need intensive study with the responsibilities that comes with practicing polygamy, to them is just another game they have to play.
  16. Yeah Lakkad I was hoping to vote for Dean, but from the looks of it my vote will probably go to Kerry. I don't think there would be a tax increase, just an implementation of the system they have already with all the money they spend on it should really work (Well me think so atleast) or the system of medicare would really do great for their health system. Opinionated I know I trully dislike their procedure, but without health insurance imagine how much money we would be paying out of pocket. Yeah I wish their health care system was like canada's. Megalomaniac It depends on the kind of insurance you are talking about. I have Health Insurance through my job which is deductibles which I was told isn't Haram. I know I guess their priorities is messed up big time, you would think since their expenditure on health care was 1.26 trilion in 2002, everyone would have access to health care.
  17. I was surprised by the number of people that are uninsured in America, almost 50 Million. Many people cant afford insurance anymore becuase its skyrocketing and its either health care or food on the table. Its the only developed country that doesn't have a universal coverage for its citizens. So what do you nomads think is causing this? Do you think America should/could have a universal coverage and why? Shouldn't health care be a right instead of a privilege?
  18. Salaams May allah make it a reality for you one day inshallah.
  19. Salaams I'm so surprised by some of the replies. Would I marry a non-somali? Yes, not because I want to have cute children or I hate somali guys. But ethnicity is not something that needs to be imperative when looking for marriage. I rather put more emphasis on their personality and their level of taqwa/iman. I know it might be difficult for my family to communicate with him because of the language barrier, but am sure they will find a way. culturally speaking though their shouldn't be any problem becuase Islam should be our culture.

  23. Salaams Sis I used to have the same problem, I know how u feel, it's not easy but its possible to make great presantations. The most imporatnt thing in making a presantations is knowing your audiance. What their attitude is could have a great impact on your presantation. Also the timing is important-ppl hate when you talk too much - organize your notes well and divide them by must know - should know - and could know that will help you with your timing. Practicing is great - I usually tape record my self and see how I sound and make changes on that. Audiance will give you attention if you are enthusiastic about the topic. If your voice is expressive and your gestures animated you'll appear confident and passionate abt your topic and most importantly keep the audiance's attention which is very vital for me when making presantation. Good luck walaal and make dua so allah can help u relieve your anxiety and help you with your education inshallah. Wa salam
  24. Salaams Eid Mubarak Brothers and Sisters. Wishing you the best of this season. May allah bless us and keep us true to our deen. --------- Ya Allah Thank You for this day again (New Hijri Yr). Thank You for my being able to see and to hear me this morning. I'm blessed because You are most forgiving and understanding ya allah. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me ya Al-Ghaffaro for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to You. Thank you for Your forgiveness, ya Rahmano. Ya Muhaymino, please keep me safe from all danger and harm for the coming years. Help me to start this New Year with a pleasant and thankful attitude. Let me make the best of this year and help me to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Help me to see all things with Your understanding. Let me not grumble about things for which I have no control. Let me see sin through Godly eyes and acknowledge it as evil. When I sin, help me to repent, to acknowledge my wrongdoing, and to receive Your forgiveness. When burdens of the world close in on me, help me remember the example of Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w) --to find a quiet place to pray. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. Equip me that I may teach the lost souls of this world to glorify You my Lord. Ya Maalik ul Mulk, open Your door for those that are lost and can't find their way. Be comfort for those that are sad, or burdened, or lonely, or sick.. Draw those who don't know You intimately. Give boldness to those that with these words will pray for others. And Lord, guide those that do not yet believe in You. I thank You for revealing Your word to me. I know that You change people and You change circumstances. Thank You O Muizzo to put me among Your chosen ones who receive your Signs. My Rab, guard over my brothers, my sisters, my friends and everyone in their households.Give peace, love, and joy in their homes. Ya Razzaqo, ya Baassito, give the provision and wisdom that they may be free of debt and fulfilled in all needs. May everyone that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than You. Every battle is in Your hands for us to fight.May these words be received into the hearts of every one that reads them and that confesses them willingly. O Allah that I may be obedient to You, that You may hear my prayer.I ask these things through Allah, Lord of the world. Ameen.
