This was the most I ever listened to a vacuous politician. My brain now aches in dire need of elan.

Trouble with ciyaal al Kacaan is you all think the country is Xamar, and Xamar is the country. Why not ride a bus to Baydhaba, travel through Sh Hoose, trot to Kismayo through Baardheere, and tell us what you see. O' you can not, yet here you are parroting the usual blather about the city State akin to a stable full of asphyxiated flora and fauna with Mr Jones no longer able to attend to their resuscitation. In this instance, it is as if you are a "baqal la dhufaanay' attempting a canter behind "dameer asqaysan", then I ask of you: what are those right-thinking souls amongst us to do?

In the Somali tradition, elders practise 'gar naqsi' on their own prior to presenting their case to the 'xeer beegti' under the tree. HSM lacks, and is void of that, and is a classic munaafaq, who says one thing, and does the opposite. This ahbal wants to sweet-talk the nation into a dictatorship, and we may as well be blindly led by Hinda Culusow and Shihan Xasan Sh.

Let us reflect upon his utterings:
    a) The most damaging of all: He went from " 'Ethiopia dhul nagama haysato' replaced with 'Dhul Ethiopia ayaan qaar goosaynaynaa ma aannaan dhihin' ". Let that sink in and ruminate.

    b) Constitution: The audacity of the man from "Loo joojin maa! " to "begging and pleading from the mosque ". He now argues "war yaanan degdegin", a few months ago, he was saying "waqti ma hadhin, immisaa la sugaa". Here is a sample of the Constitutional re-drafting he is engaged in. Do you still think his intentions are honourable?

    i) Af iyo dhego aan is maqal: in one sentence, he argues for a shift by rummaging through "redrafting the Constitution" without consensus, inclusivity, and representation, yet in the next sentence, he makes the case as to the reasons THAT only leads to failure. As MMA quite rightly diagnoses, the man suffers from hypomania disorder.

ii) Best example is where he says let us NOT bypass agreed upon political contract, consensus-based constitution and treaties, yet he is the first to have unilaterally violated the ONLY agreed upon political contract in 50 years.

iii) Another clear example of munaafaqnimo is where he says "aan wada hadallo", yet rejects negotiations, the open platform afforded him, and with the leadership granted to him.

     c) He argues "Hub waxaan u sidannaa keliya khawaarijta", yet does not realise sabotaging development projects is far more egregious than firing bullets. FGS has been withholding funds for developments projects, or refusing to sign paperwork for projects in PL incl. the Garacad - Galkacyo - Galdobgob, modernising electric grid, water purification projects just to name a few. If he had the ability to wage a war, he would have done so, but he does not, and the only weapon he could fight with is sabotaging development and progress. He financed stringers to disrupt local district elections. The same would apply to any other FMS just as his predecessor had done to JL, he tried against SL in shutting down international flights, to name a few.

    d) Now, he claims to have implemented federalism in the country. Could someone remind him of the drudgery in laying down the pipelines and the political capital expended in instituting Federalism whilst he was still an unknown Macawisle sporting sandals in suuq Bacaad, and how he was forced to accept JL as a State whilst he was wailing at the alter moving the entire FGS to prevent it from becoming one. Let us also remind him of his sabotaging of the SSC Khatumo movement in becoming a State, and backstabbing it in ridding itself of the SL militias.

    e) Elections: could he hold elections in 24 months?
            - If so, in which districts? Here are the regions and a list of districts aligned with the Fed. gov't.

    f) Al Shabaab: Against wise counsel, where he was advised not to wage a war, but embrace engagement strategy, he chose otherwise; besides the pantomine costumes and empty rhetoric, and with AS's leadership still in Xamar, could he defeat AS? Latest intel indicates AS is [the] most armed, capable force in the country, and is stronger now than it were 2 years ago.
       i) He speaks of AS hiding and the FGS seeking them out, and what he does not understand is AS's manoeuvring is a strategy; question is what is his strategy? Where are the army generals, military tacticians, strategists, planners, and leaders?  He is none of the above, yet wants to assume the role of all.

    g) PL / SL: Northern polities in the N East (pro-federalist) and N West (secessionist leaning towards Confederalist), as imperfect as they are, do lead regional politics, and have shown political maturity, stability, and conviction unlike the green FMSs in the deep South, which are gradually progressing whilst still beholden to the injurious Xamar-centric, centralist agenda. For the FMSs, this is temporary, a marriage of convenience, case in point both JL & SW are adrift, and divergent with the coming 12 months ushering in a new dawn of politicking. Both are poised to break away to full autonomy in coming years, for doing so benefits them directly, and the nation indirectly. The more politically and financially independent FMSs become, the less influence Xamar has over States. The same shall apply to GM & HS.

Now tell us why Puntland rejects the " Soomaalinimo" and saying they won't recognize the national government. No one has that veto power. This move by Puntland is aiding and abating the saperatists on the international state.Even the international media is talking about Puntland leaving the union.

The Garacad - Tuurdibi trade route 'ween PL and DDS has been an ongoing project, in the works for years, starting under Gaas, to boost the local economy. A good example, fruits and veggies consumed in PL now come from DDS (reason potato and tomato is cheaper in Galkacyo than in Xamar), and in return reason reer SG are now sea food aficionados, with export to DDS on steady uptick and revenue stream for the locals on either side of fence.

Do you still think PL is in the wrong? If so, tell us why and how?

  3. Al-Shabab terrorist group launched 11 mortar attacks in different parts of Mogadishu tonight. These attacks came days after the firing of the National Intelligence & Security Agency director Mahad Mohamed Salad. He has been accused of aiding Al-Shabab in the past as he facilitated such mortar attacks in the past. The presidential palace & Aden Adde International Airport were hit. The international airlines like Turkish Airlines & Ethiopian Airlines have stopped flights to Mogadishu for tomorrow!

  4. I intentionally avoid spots popular with politicians, their coat hungers and rogue elements, and opt for hidden local gems where one could enjoy a decent meal whilst breaking bread with the locals, with the conversation alone being beyond one's imagination. Diaspora folks are pompous rascals on wheels lacking authenticity.

  5. Those are just diaspora haunts, and not genuine. Go and find Cad & Caano kitchen, where some of the best, healthy Somali cuisine is being prepared in front of you. The owners, husband (reer SG by way of Dubmuluq) and wife (reer Hodan), a lovely couple, were planning to relocate to a new location, when I last dined there last year.

My favourites: Garow, digir, soor, hadhuudh etc. served with veggies, fish, steak etc with some of the best herbal sauces.

I went to Karamel restaurant in KM 5 and the meal was around $12 American dollars, then few nights after I went " Isgoyska Fagax"  ate three loaves of Muufo, Suqaar, banana and Saliid Macsaro for just $3 dollars. The cost of living is always cheaper the more you go south and if Al-shaytaan are destroyed, the rich fertile land of Shabeelle would even make fruits and vegetables much cheaper.

In terms of using dollars, it is the only way to fight rampant inflation and the crazy fluctuation of the American dollar. In Kenya, six months ago, one American dollar was 100 Shillings, in February it 160 Shillings, that is 60% increase.

That is a travesty on a grand scale. A fine meal at a decent restaurant in Bangalore (Kannada, S India) and in Medan (N Sumatra, Indonesia) is a couple of dollars at most. A glass of fresh mango is 0.25+/- cents. Just wanted to prick your fat belly, and redirect your focus unto wherein lies the ailment, lest you got comfortable downing those smoothies in your adulation of HSM & Co, and forgot the simmering amber under the soles of the average resident of the city.

What do you make of Deni choice for cabinet? Seems he went for experience and influence, over young followers and yes man.

It is a war cabinet with the focus on the periphery rather than the centre, and with the periphery at ease, Deni is disposed at redirecting humpty dumpty, rebalancing the fulcrum against the illegitimate power-grab manoeuvering of HSM & Co, as they swim in their own faecal matter. Surely, you do not expect the supine SW folk to rise to the occasion, or the compromised A Madoobe in JL, or reer Hiiran on the cusp of dissipation, albeit are the ones, who will bear the brunt of it, when all is said and done. Besides the manufactured conflict on the onset, HSM's biggest allies are Bixiye & Co.

  8. Waaryaa yaa reer magaal, instead of watching yt, travel round the city from Afgooye to Jawhar, just 20 miles+, and tell us what is going on. Talk to, and tell us about:

    • Usage of US Dollar, as [the] currency in circulation, and its immense adverse economic implications for the average family,
    • Mothers hawking fruits and khat on street corners (imagine a Mulsim mother peddling narcotics/drugs to feed her family),
    • Paupers roaming the streets,
    • Metal and garage workers pouring engine oil and metal residue at Bakaare,
    • Young police officers manning city streets in sandals on a 200$ salary,
    • Fat cat civil servants i.e. Ministers, MPs etc, suckling unto the bleeding bosom of Maandeeq,
    • Segregation between diaspora folks and natives,
    • Costly cafes and food at mid-range restaurants out of reach of the average resident,
    • The reason a glass of mango or papaya is more expensive in Xamar than Dubai,
    • Tawdry and debauchery at Xadiqa al Salam formerly "Ceelgaab" environ,
    • And so forth and so one.

  9. Balcad: Al-Shabab Attack Exposes Government Fragility

The attack on Balcad, which resulted in the death of 11 Al-Shabab fighters according to district commissioner Qasim Furdug, is a testament to the group’s resilience and determination. While the government has not disclosed the number of casualties suffered by its forces, the extent of the damage inflicted upon the targeted checkpoints and government building is evident from eyewitness accounts and photographs from the scene. This successful attack, carried out a mere 30 kilometers from the center of Mogadishu, raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the government’s security measures and its ability to protect its citizens.

The resurgence of Al-Shabab in Balcad and other parts of the country stands in stark contrast to the optimistic promises made by President Hassan Sheikh more than a year ago. The president’s assurances that the war against Al-Shabab would be concluded “in weeks” and that the regions of HirShabelle and GalMudug would be liberated from the group’s control now ring hollow in the face of the group’s continued attacks and growing influence. The government’s inability to deliver on these promises has eroded public confidence and raised doubts about the effectiveness of the current counter-insurgency strategy.

  10. It is as if he knew what was was to come. In his final "daradaar" poem, he laments:

"Waa idin dagahayaa kufriga aad u dabcaysaane
Dirhamkuu idiin qubahayaad dib u gudaysaane
Marka hore dabkuu idinku dhigi dumar sidiisiiye
Marka xigana daabaqad ayuu idin dareensiine
Marka xiga dalkuu idinku odhan duunyo dhaafsada e
Marka xiga dushuu idinka rari sida dameeraaye
Dillaalna waxaad helaysaan intaa dunida joogaaye
Mar haddaan dushii Adari iyo Iimeey dacal dhaafay
Maxaad igaga digataan berruu siin la soo degiye! "

This was a response to the Saancadaale quips of the day, and the same could be said of the current crop chanting the death and destruction of AS today:
"Waa lagu digtaa duul hadduu kuu darraan jiraye
Bal dayaay wadaadkii waa kaa sii dabayshadaye".

Adopting a state structure, while there is no consensus and no trust (between clans and towards the state) and making differing assumptions and  perspectives of the current state of things and how they ought to be. I belief this is what happened in 2004 and again 2024.

A major difference between the two: There was a need to arm-twist warring factions holding the nation as a hostage, and warlords dividing up the capital and farther afield in 2004, do you see the need in 2024?

  12. Fears of violence grow as Somalia scraps power-sharing system

The amendments give the president the authority to appoint and dismiss prime ministers, transferring that power from lawmakers, and grant him increased control over appointments to the electoral commission, taking away input from federal states. The current power-sharing model of government, a system that ensures the country’s four main clans get equal representation in parliament, will be also scrapped in place of universal suffrage.

The former presidents Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Sharif Ahmed warned the changes would upset Somalia’s delicate power balance, while the former prime ministers Omar Sharmarke and Hassan Ali Khaire denounced the changes in an open letter also signed by the veteran MP Abdirahman Abdishakur.

Afyare A Elmi, a research professor at the City University of Mogadishu, said Puntland’s withdrawal from the federal system could further imperil the viability of a unified Somali state.

“If a large chunk of the country is missing in this process we are simply building a constitution for south-central Somalia.”

Afyare Elmi said the 2012 constitution was based upon a political settlement with broad input from Somalis. “It had four key elements: federalism, clan power-sharing, regular elections and a spirit of inclusiveness to build consensus. What the government is doing now is moving away from this settlement,” he said.

The other federal states, Jubbaland, South West state, Hirshabelle and Galmudug have yet to comment on the amendments. Somaliland, which declared independence from Somalia in 1991, said: “Somalia’s recent constitutional development is an internal matter.”

Ina Caydiid is a volatile hawk, and more often than not is as bad as the secessionists in his rhetoric. I am also astounded by some of the language some in PL are using in even speaking as if chums with Habasha of all people. Allah may save us.

If Mogadishu is serieus they can stop Ethiopian Airlines easily as the airline is liable according to international air transport laws which Ethiopia is party to.

They can, but should they? And if they do, what are the implications?  Remember, Farmaajo tried that with JL, and did not bear the desired results.

Moqdisho is not serious about anything. Hassan did not want to confront Abiya anytime in past or present. He was involved the sea deal and knew but did anything about it. He dreams on his own region in central Somalia with moqdisho as the capital but he doesn’t have ability to cleared and managed. He went to Duusamareeb 40 times and did not a complish anything. Same time he does not recognized Khatumo State for sake of Unity of Country. He will finally forced to held the presidency election in Agisyoone. But he will loot and mismanage everything just before his time run out. The federal government did not make any progress since beginning of its creation for now 20 years. It is time to seek different solutions. Because it became a hostage for a group of local politicians who used it to get rich.

I hear from some in his close circles, he is bent as hell on a Confederation model giving the now defunct Premier to SL to secure another term, the only way he is convinced he could instill and advance Sanbaloolshe doctrine, which is rather popular with his financiers & advisers.

  14. Xaange is not being truthful, and is only protecting his position. PL withdrew from the 2018 agreement after the FGS reneged on all subsequent agreements, and do not wish to deal with the FGS in its current form, or have any projects funneled through its institutions.

And it is doing all right without its noise. Here is one of the ongoing projects, all financed through local taxes, for the re-construction of the road connecting Garowe - Galkacyo.
