  1. Why all the hate Mario? It seems you are so obsessed with Somaliland you feel compelled to interject venomous hate speech into every thread...whether it's relevant or not.
  2. Wadani is proving that it'll be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming elections. Wonder how the established parties will react to their popularity.

  5. How pathetic. This forum is for meaningful discussion, not pointless and childish arguments.
  6. What a pointless thread. Godane hails from SL. So what? Hitler was Austrian and yet he committed his most horrible acts from Germany, his adopted home. Same goes for Stalin, he was a Georgian yet his most infamous crimes occurred while he ruled Russia his own adopted home he identified with. The list goes on.
  7. ^ Agreed. You got to set realistic expectations for yourself and your country. Before thinking that you can build the greatest airport or (insert structure) in the world you have to compare yourself with your immediate neighbors, whether they be your countrymen or the Ethiopians or Kenyans, and once you've surpassed them then you can starting thinking about competing with the rest of the continent or globally.
  8. $147 million USD? Wow these technocrats in the Finance ministry are doing an even better job than I thought.
  9. Mashallah. Let's hope this progress spreads into the rest of the south
  10. I am proud to call my Ceerigaabo my hometown. So lush and green and home to the most caring people in all of Somaliland...not to mention the most patriotic
  11. HARGEISA, April 2 | Mon Apr 2, 2012 12:34pm EDT (Reuters) - Australian oil explorer Jacka Resources has entered into an agreement with Petrosoma Limited to take a 50 percent equity stake in an oil block in a breakaway enclave of Somalia, Jacka said on Monday. It said the 22,000 square kilometre Habra Garhajis block -formerly known as block 26 - in southwestern Somaliland was expected to be similar in geology to basins in Yemen and Uganda where billions of barrels of oil reserves have been discovered. Somaliland declared independence in 1991 and has enjoyed relative stability compared to the rest of lawless Somalia, which has been mired in conflict for two decades. However, although it has held a series of peaceful general elections, it remains unrecognised internationally. "Jacka's management have held the belief for a long time that Somaliland holds great potential," Jacka's Chairman Scott Spencer said in a statement. Under the terms of the agreement, Jacka will be the operator, the company said in a statement. The Habra Garhajis block comprises the whole of concession SL6 and parts of SL7 and 10. Jacka will conduct a gravity survey and a minimum 500 kms of 2D seismic tests, it said. In November, Somaliland's government said London-listed company Ophir Energy, Asante Oil and Prime Resources had signed deals under which they would have 18 months to explore, conduct seismic tests and identify wells. Only 21 wells have been drilled in Somaliland, making it under explored even by the frontier standards of the region, where the oil and gas industries are in their infancy. Kenya announced last week its first ever oil strike, although more drilling is needed to assess commercial viability. 12. ^ as opposed to what? The bullet riddled and scarred airport in Mogadisho?
  13. Oday is a hater in the purest form, if it were not the machines he would have said he didn't like the colour of paint on the walls Egal International is still the most advanced airport in the Somali peninsula
  14. At the end of the day it comes down to logistics and Ali Khalif's pathetic clannish rag tag militants do not have the resources to keep fighting forever...unless they want to continue to hold ridiculous parties in the diaspora. Somaliland on the other hand literally has millions at its disposal to wipe out these teenage tribal rebels
  15. It's pathetic to think that everyday for the past 6 years people have claimed that Laascaanood was going to be imminently captured...yet nothing has happened. The delusional dreams of Ali Khalif Galaydh and his rag tag bandits will never materialize into anything other than mere rhetoric.
  16. ^^^ If the China can't stop people from doing business with Taiwan what makes you think the weakTFG can do anything about Somaliland? Besides it hasn't stopped other companies like Coca Cola from signing deals with SL.
  17. Monday, April 02, 2012 by Bevis Yeo Jacka Resources targets oil in Somaliland, exploration to start in current quarter. Jacka Resources (ASX: JKA) has acquired a highly prospective oil exploration block in Somaliland, East Africa, that is on trend with the prolific producing basins of Yemen that hold 9.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent. The company will hold a 50% operating stake in the 22,000 square kilometre Habra Garhajis block , where a working petroleum system appears to be demonstrated by 9 independently verified oil seeps. Geochemical analyses of these seeps indicate a light oil or condensate that is consistent with the oils produced in Yemen. Jacka’s partner Petrosoma has an established in-country office and team that will provide immediate operational capability. The joint venture has scheduled an aggressive work program starting with the acquisition of a comprehensive gravity and magnetics dataset in the second quarter of 2012. Jacka will also be required to shoot at least 500 kilometres of 2D seismic. Habra Garhajis is 1 of 3 Jurassic rift basins in the Horn of Africa that are continuations of the Jurassic rift basins of Yemen, and its geology is expected to be very similar. The entire East African region is the subject of an increasingly strong and competitive industry focus with companies such as BG, Ophir, ENI, Africa Oil, Anadarko, Total, CNOOC and others taking positions. Recent finds such as Anadarko’s giant 30 trillion cubic feet gas discovery in the Rovuma Offshore Area 1 in Mozambique, large gas discoveries by BG and Eni as well as an oil find by African specialist Tullow Oil have all served to fuel interest in the region.
  18. Yes the initiatives they are undertaking in Somaliland and Somalia and the other countries of the region are a welcome development
  19. Sunday, 01 April 2012 12:13 digg Mogadishu. Reports from Hargeisa, the capital of the self-declared Republic of Somaliland, 1500 km north of Mogadishu confirmed that a Turkish delegation visited the breakaway region. Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo welcomed the delegation led by Mr. Hani Torun, the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia that consisted of six members, in his office on Friday. “This is the second delegation from Turkey to visit (Somaliland) in a period of two weeks,” noted a statement signed by Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed Dahir Ukise, the Press Secretary of Somaliland’s president. The statement added that earlier delegation was led by the Somali Programme Coordinator of Turkeys International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), Mr. Abdulahad Kodkagi, and accompanied by representatives of the Turkish Prime Minister. The Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, Mr Torun, said that Turkey and Somaliland enjoyed good relations and the purpose of his visit was to strengthen existing relations and that his government was aiming at assisting the region by means of technical and social assistances.. 20. So you wish Puntland to be an independent state? Kind of hypocritical when you consider all the past unionist rhetoric you've put forward
  21. Leading the way in green energy for the region. Great stuff.
  22. The efforts of these clannish one minded rag tag rebels are only going in vain. Their landlocked positions surrounded by Somaliland troops can only hold out for a limited time and their resources are meager in the face of Somaliland's well oiled and financed military machine. The fact that their surprise attack was already anticipated by the Somaliland military and the capture of members of the leadership only attests to their inability to make gains. How sad.
  23. So now that all the commotion has died down, Laascaanood is still in the firm grip of Somaliland and the futile skirmishing efforts of these rag tag teenage soldiers have accomplished nothing...yet again.

We're a developing nation and the need to invest in our people is just as important as maintaining the peace, in fact the two go hand in hand. The government already established free primary education last year and doubled teacher's salaries. I think that counts for something.
  25. What slogans? I merely pointed out the fact that you must obsessively interject the PL into every thread. If you use the search tool in this forum you'll easily find topics and articles relating to petroleum exploration in Somaliland prior to January 15th so I don't know what you're talking about. Ophir energy has been engaged with Somaliland on the topic of oil exploration for several years and you can even find it on their website: In April 2003 , Rova Energy Corporation Limited (Rova) entered into the Berbera Production Sharing Agreement (Berbera PSA) with the Government of Somaliland. Rova was a special purpose company established to acquire and develop the Berbera PSA. In return for providing early funding, Mvelaphanda was awarded an option to acquire 75% of the issued share capital of Rova. The remaining 25% was held by a private individual. Ophir acquired this option from Mvelaphanda in October 2004 and in March 2005 exercised its option to acquire 75% of Rova. In February 2007 , Ophir and the private individual agreed to exchange Ophir’s shareholding in Rova for a direct interest in the Berbera PSA. This was subsequently ratified by the Government in March 2007 (with the transaction completing in May 2007). Ophir then became a direct participant in the Berbera PSA holding an interest of 75% and is the designated operator. In 2008 Rova agreed to sell its 25% interest in the Berbera PSA to UAE based Ras Al Khaimah Gas Company (RAKgas). http://www.ophir-energy.com/assets/somaliland
