  5. ^You're well aware travelling opens one's eyes. They just need to get on a plane.
  6. Baashi, I understand what you’re saying but training needs equipment and bases need to be equipped to train. Logic dictates that the embargo will not be fully lifted. Essential equipment for the purposes of establishing security, starting the training and building processes should be made available. Any lifting of the embargo will have stringent conditions attached such as putting AMISOM at the centre of receiving, storing and distributing the equipment.
  7. When you’re in the homeland you come across people who are curious to know what the outside world is like and ask a number of questions based on what they’ve heard about the place from other people. You will get questions on what British people are like, what the weather is like, what the food is like, what the Somalis living there are like etc. They’re somewhat unfairly called ‘dhaqan aan doofin’ but you can understand to an extent why they have these assertions about other people and places. They may not have attended school or maybe they didn’t do geography and/or history of said place/people they’re discussing. And, obviously, it’s unlikely they’ve left the country at all. Now, what do we call the ones who have left, have been to school and have access to all sorts of information, yet ask such questions? Dhaqan doofey oo iska fadhiistay?
  8. Driving is mad here laakin waan la qabsaday. You basically have to be as greedy as possible otherwise you won't get anywhere. At roundabouts you just enter and the guy (and it is always a guy ) in the roundabout lets you in. You don't stop and wait for the roundabout to clear. The standards in SL is better (I'm not joking). Other things SL is better at is general cleanliness. This place waa uskag. Qashin baa meel walbaa yaala

  18. It does exist. One has to be careful and protect himself/herself.
  19. ^They have extended it so it was a case of excavating the earth at the end of the runway, backfilling with crushed stone or hard material then compacting it before laying the asphalt. Just like a road. A runway is far more complicated and involves a lot of concrete and reinforement bars. Rahima;919072 wrote: NORF, Why don't you go back and work on the project yourself- the homeland needs skills like yours (I'm only assuming that you're in engineering from your posts above). Just came back from my uncles house and according to him there is a massive shortage of qualified and skilled engineers. I did think about it and I did enquire but I came across govnt individuals who are very protective of their roles and are very reluctant to let anyone with experience in the door. The only option I see is to establish an office there with my current employer (who is willing). Maybe after my current workload.
  20. It could be but there are plenty of other places as well. I'm wondering if it was JB ka la xidhay
