As much as I think SL is doing well, I don't take The Economist seriously on many issues.

There is nothing wrong with travelling and experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. Such experiences give people perspective. What one does with his/her money isn't your concern guys.

I think people realise just how much of a reality SL is when they visit the region. They fail to make that judgement from across oceans

Many recognise the political reality. Time to make that political reality a fully recognised country.

I suppose heeshiintu is a good thing but these guys were irrelavent. SL govnt. should be bigger than this.

Good news. Let's hope this happens as it would make SL strategically important for the Ethiopia-China trade corridor.

I thought this was an NGO govnt? They should know funds don't come with strings attached and setting up a system of accountability isn't difficult. But is that what they want?

What does Saudi Arabia want?
Saudi officials fear that, at best, the US is not interested in curbing Iranian influence and, at worst, actively seeking a return to the days of the Shah, with Iran serving as policeman of the Gulf at the expense of the so-called Sunni Arab monarchies.

^There is no hypocracy to what Saudi Arabia does. Its a case of take it or leave it.

Iran clearly thinks it has won and the west are showing the world how reasonable and patient they have been in trying to bring about a peaceful settlement (Iran called their bluff). The Sunni Arabs are perplexed and realise they no longer have Uncle Sam's ear (even after he sold them all those toys).
In 6 months if things go south then the west can say it did all it could and Iran can say they have nothing to hide.
