somali brother, well spoken, straight at the point! i mean i have seen what majority thinks, which is sad, and also brainwashing from the western world, we as youth etc, need to have this mind of, we are here to get our education, even if the fact of our country is torn apart, but we are here to learn and help our own! u see helping somalia has many ways to start, everyone lives in a commuunity, i tell you this, go outside and look at the kids and see what they are doing, especially in the summers, and what programs are provided for them, very few for the somali family to afford, and these kids endup hanging around the streets, why don't we, if we want to help our country start from here, where the resources are, helping your own community on creating programs and fighting for the young ones! you see if we are able to achieve this here, then we can start going back there, and rebuilding, trust me money has nothing to do with creating! knowledge is all you need and determination!
  3. i mean it shows u what the so called democracy is! haha enjoy the reading! just three pages http://iviews.com/articles/Articles.asp?ref=IV0305-1958
  4. hey the website is really good, i mean i think you should look up the articles in america and checkout the noam chomsky's article, later
  5. hello brothers this is a neat thing u talking about, talking about prove as the brother before mentioned on history, well i have one straight forward example, look at the history of tanzania, you will learn that it was a united republic of tanganyika and zanzibar was also known to be part of tanganyika/tanzania, and people went to zanzibar with passports, and zanzibar had its own government and president, parliament u name it, and yet still was known it was unnder tanzania, cool, now you maight be thinking wat has that have to do with somalia and somali land, look at it this way, the country was divided in by the colonists, you got the british north, the french northnorth east, and the south u got the italians, and the british again where now known as kenya, the nfd place is the land of somalis, and parts of ethiopia, so the problem was caused by the uuneducated colonists who had no idea what they were dealing with in the african continent, and so the africans had no mean other than to gain their independence with what was provided by the colonists. now then, u have to different systems working, the somalis in the north who have adapted the british system(culture etc) and the south where they have also adapted the italian system(culture etc). now u can see that these colonists are two different people, ruling one peoples, but that is the problem, the difference of ruling. so by gaining their independence the somalis new they were one and wanted that one ness, what they lacked was the ignorance of what the past cause to there political and social system etc. so, sorry, my histoire might have been bad or wat ever, but i think the issue of a better somali, is to be somali as one, yet everyone leading there own parts differently, and if passports for people to enter ones place, so be it, because there will be order and will create an increase of economy and everything, because as soon as there is strict reasoning and business flows, you will see how these two different governments will take somalia somewhere greater than wat we have now. that is if the people of somalia will wake up, and realize that they have done enough to the country interms of taring it in pieces and now it is time to bring them together, and stop listenning to the hypocrits(usa) who only wat things for their own countries
  6. hey all well u see, the reallity of the matter is we can say islam is the solution, and we all know it, but then the question lies, will it be the islam from what allah(sw) has advised or again be a manifestation of wat the human potrays in their own benefits. which this brings in the issue of tribalism, tribalism is very misunderstood interms of power and humanity, and i think is one of the major causes of the world devestation, because it is a human psychological weakness that we have, and face, and unntil we learn to know wat is the difference of culture and religion is, then we can move forward, there is nothing like the truth from within, when u have power, and see your brother right beside you who has no credibilities or ways of knowing how to operate something etc, compared to someone who you don't know, from out there, and knows his thing, you will prefer your brother, and take that risk, of taking time and money to teach him, and so we all have that, and unless we learn how to actually lead and follow the right way of things, if it be islam, or the so called democracy
  7. hey all! i would like to throw something out here, i believe alot of us come here to find wat people are thinking, and wat is going around the communities etc, and people's beliefs and getting help from one another. i owuld like to talk about community development interms of our somali communities, there are alot of kids who are having a hard time with schools and the whole issue of culture shock, and i would like people to start thinking on how they could help their communities on where they live, even if there isn't a somali comunity where you are at, just go and helpout, see what the schools are doing, cause i mean, in toronto there are a lot of cutbacks, and the new highschool curriculum, majority of our brothers and sisters might endup droping out, and kids in jails etc, you know the rest, now wat type of things could we as young people work together in and help the younger brothers and sisters out there to keep them away from trouble, and learn, not only the western culture but the somali culture etc thankyou
  8. i agree che with the issue of solving wat the past has constructed and move to the future, you see by looking and talking about the past, we tend to live in the past, it is time for us to look at the past as the past, and learn from it, not publicize it, and make it an everyday reallity story thing, as the vietnam movies played all the time, just a rough analogy, haha, anyways, we all know that our communities are having major problem into advancing ahead, we need to start figuring out how we could raise our kids meaning brothers and sisters, for them to make it up there, forget now about wat we gonna do for somalia, you learn by doing things, if you can accomplish to build and advance a community here, then imagine wat you will be able to achieve and build in somalia? so people start talking the reallity, of helping our youth succeeding, and this issue of qabiil, just don't make it a center of attention, there is soo much, and if you want to stop racism, become a muslim interms of iman! have iman, believe, and you shall see, before speaking, think! and don't judge listen! thankyou
  9. hey all! firstly, i must say, i enjoyed reading wat you people are discussing, very neat stuff, i mean about time people talk some sense stuff! ok now, to get back at the question che published, which is the issue of the people in west africa and central and east africa, claiming that their ancestors are somalis. ok, this is what i have due to personal life stories and the familia! it is true and yes it could be traced interms of the family name, i know this because i am one of those people, a somali, and did not live in somalia, my grand father migrated from somalia to tanzania, and this was due to the british empire, such as those somalis who migrated from somalia to england, now i know this is just recent interms of the old histories, now look at this picture, the cushtics/somalis are nomad people, everyone knows this, they used to migrate with their herds etc, where there is water to be found, the cushtics will travel, so then what is so hard to not understand how cushtics ended up in west africa? moreover, they are traders too, you gotta look at how the trades were going, they must have travelled, and since somalis are very quick to adapt into new habitats, they were able to adapt to the cultures of that foreign land, mixing it with their own culture(somali/cushtic). so wat am trying to say is, it is true, there are alot of families that live in the heart of africa, near udzungwa mountains in tanzania, basically inside the countires, where civilization is still a story in other parts. and the mali story, i think it is true, because not only those people claim they are somalis, listen to there language, and the way they live, their culture, and artifacts. i mean there is soo much!
  10. They judge Not look and find We die and suffer But they judge A question is raised They shut out ........................challenged They judge Understanding the problem is key They divide .........................categorize They judge Dialogue is the solution But no one is listening They judge
  11. hello, interesting topic that has been touched by alot of peeps, everyone until now is tellling you not to do it, due to the issue of sining, well also could you look at the other side, and ask yourself who you are and ask where our youthism and respectism is? as a somali culture, since when do sisters advice go ahead and have sex with a guy, due to love? have we forgotten the meaning of being a woman? the respect and pride of who we are? the pride of our people and culture? these are habits of a created culture, the culture that hasn't nor wasn't been born, a whitemans culture, which has no respect dignity and most of all self respect. so brother the freewill is yours and hers, both of you have the something called mind where you could use it for knowledge or for what you are told by your peers. and i believe as the old peeps say learn from what you see around you and don't do the same mistakes or don't do what you don't want to be done to you. and i believe you will have a wise discussion with this young perticular girl, and she will have an attitude,or not, but either way you need two to tango, and so if you stick by your word, she won't fret one bit, and you will get a control of teaching someone how to think and free them from the closed eyed society of ours.(sorry if i sound preachy to all, its just the world)
