    Unlike many SOLers I am not known for opposing legitimate Somali governments that are reasonable and practical. Every government Somalia had since Abdullaahi Yusuf I supported it. I opposed Abdullaahi primarilly because of Ethiopia's invasion and the perception I had at the time that he willfully squandered the Islamic Court opportunity in Mogadishu. I supported Abdiqasim , but opposed him because of his nonsense on Kismayo. I supported Sharif , and I still do for he advanced the Somali ball more so than any other president.

     

    But I have never been more disappointed in Hassan Sheekh. He is (unless he changes) an ugly manifestation of USC --the m00ryaanis who did everything to drive us from Kismayo only to destroy it. It is matter of time before Somalia's political landscape dramatically changes.

     

    This may not be a big deal, but if this president continues on current trajectory he will fail in a short period of time.

    ^^Kismayo , waa home ninyahow. Puntland was and still is a heaven for expellees of Mogadishu

     

    But Kismayo is a true home , Hassan wants to destroy that opportunity for many of us ---he already tried but failed. So this is real awoowe :D

    Hassan is the reason we are talking and discussing IGAD, Jubbaland, Kenya ha baxdo, Ethiopia ha baxdo, he is the reason Somalia's political discourse resembles that of 1990s .

     

    Reports say Hassan and Faroole are meeting at Jomo Kenyatta Airport ---if it is true it cannot get much lower

     

    Impeachment is a legit way of getting rid of him, if it comes down to it---in other words any one who gets in the way of Kismayo will be dealt with ee la soco dee :D

    Mooge, though most of us don't care really about IGAD communiques , still it is interesting that the president who moved mountains to fight Jubbaland in regional theaters, almost making it the number priority of his government has been handed a diplomatic shoo away.

     

    In its most elementary reading, IGAD communique says : Mr. Hassan this is a Somali problem , we think you should solve it by talking to the stakeholders in that region.

    ^^Most of what you wrote is right , but we differ the risk Faroole is taking and whether it is necessary for him to get involved.

     

    I do not see that much of a risk for his involvement. I believe he must get involved, staying on the side lines is not an option for him. If you recall, it was Faroole who supported the notion of Azania when Professor Gandi floated it during the Sharif presidency. So for Faroole this is a much improved product compared to how it looked at the beginning. He cannot abandon it.

     

    The worst case scenario is for Jubbaland to fail, which means federalism, at least in the fashion Faroole expects it to look, fails before a referendum is held. In that case what he is doing now will help him justify whatever radical measure he will have to resort later. It wont be viewed as an erratic action ...it will have a logical flow to it i.e. I said this, I did this, etc...

     

    So I disagree ; Faroole is not risking anything in a big way. All he is doing is advancing a vision for Somalia he so religiously believes , federalism. And you have to understand, federalism is a must at least for the D block community for Somalia to be revived. They lost Mogadishu in a big way, demographically and economically (things Hassan's of this world could hardly understand :D ), and the world understands ...so Faroole's insistence is not without merit or support.

    Culusow reads it , and gives it thumps down.

     

    He understands who lost here, and I agree. Somalia lost big. But Culusow is wrong; it was Somalia, and not Kenya or Ethiopia that requested an IGAD meeting to resolve for internal political disagreement. So in essence the president has been humbled...

     

    It looks after returning from Adis, his men are talking in a different tune or so says the reports out of Kismayo. Today teh ministers were released from the Airport per Ahmed Madoobe's reqeust after they agreed that there is only one Jubbaland administration. Whether thier agreement was out of convenience to get into the city or out of realization this game of theirs is no longer sustainable and is causing them great deal of embarrassment remains to be seen.

     

    But one fact is clear, Ahmed Madoobe and Fartaag are insisting that there is no way the outcome of a two year democratic process can be committed to the flames ...they are the legitimate leaders of Jubbalalnd state.
