  1. ^^History has never been on your side when it comes raiding camels and tribal wars. The Garaad clan is by far the most lethal in that profession :D

The 'hagoog' swagger was always for Ali's clan ---here below hear it from the man himself

Qarafa awra ah kama sooraraan, qaran ********e

Qawad laabta joogiyo xarago, lama qammaadaane

Intay qam isku siiyaan hagoog, qabay masheegtaane ---this is the hagoog we are talking about , it is a sign of nomadic superiority

Dhalinyaro qabiibi ahi fardaha, kuma qadhaabtaane

Sange qaarar weyn iyo darmaan, qooqin ma hayaane,

Ashkir qaayib iyo xamar qoodh qabiyo, qalas ma fuulaane

Baroor qadan leh oo aad midabka, qad iyo laasmoodo

Qolqol uma dhisaan geed intay, qun ugu waabaane

Qol kujire qasaaraha rogaal, uma qalqaalaane

Intay qoorta kaga weeciyaan, kuma qateeyaane

Hadba qolo intay weeraraan, kagama qayshaane ---here is a description of what happens when Ali's Garaad clan raid Oodweyne :D

Waalagu quwayn jiray bahday, qaabka boolida e :D

Qaankiisa oo tuban hadii, la qoodeeyo waa geele

Qaynuun amaan duule iyo, qarad masoocdaane here is the culture of booli and its rules ...

  2. Abtigiis,

In defense of Khatumo men regarding their romantic styles or lack thereof, here is a poem by non other than Ali Adan (Ali Dhuh), the poet of poets in his era. As the era of Darwishes come to an end, and British colony tightened its control in British Somaliland, Ali's sub clan (Reer A* Geri) saw their fortunes diminish as their stature and standing within the Hawd community declined . As time passed by, Ali's wife begun to feel the receding power and diminishing value of the man she is married to, and started questioning him about this and that.

Ali Dhuh, after putting up with his wife's whining and grumble for some time, decided to paint a historical picture for her about his sub clans. What followed was one of the most interesting poems Ali ever composed. In it is the description of the villages and settlements he once ruled and lived, the raids his subclan used to organize, the camels they wrestlled from the weaker (Oodweyne's clan), neighboring clans etc. But also in the poem is a beautiful illustration of how Ali and the youth of his clan used to date girls , the hitting-on and chasing the skirts so to speak and nomadic, romantic tales of Hawd.

    Snippets of Ali's qaafleey ;

Qoda Dhagaxley qooriga Haye iyo, tuban Qalaalkeeda

Qotankii Yamayskiyo kobtaan, qadow ku beeraynay

    Nimankii qusuusiga ahaa, Qoran madaajaane

    Qaandhaawadii kuma lisaan, qamaca jiilaale

Qorog buuxa agaan qafilan, qabaxsan maayaane

Qiyaas caanaheeda oo dhanaan, kuma quraacdaane

Qol dugsoon intay jiifsadaan, qabay ma fuulaane

Qadhyad gabadh ah qaalida waheen, lama qadeeyaan e

Intay qalab magaalo u xidhaan, kula ma qooqaane :D

Qarashyaalihii lama dhacaan, qirada :D fiiqnaaye

    Qosolkii iyo haasaawihii, ku qarxinmaayaane

In the concluding verses Ali directly addresses his wife and tells her like it is: we were once the kings and princes of Hawd valley , he says, but today our status speaks for our situation. Read the quran and supplicate to your Lord for all you have is ME and Abdi :D :D

Naag yahay aduun iga qariban, quusna waan ahaye

Qab baa madaxa kaa buuxa oo, waad qadhaadhahaye

Waxaan la qar wayaa laylka dhexe, qoomamo iyo ciile

Ragii aniga ila qayr ahaa, qoladii Reer Jaamac

Qormadaad ogeyd baan lashiray, amase qoorwaaye

Qabiilkii ku guursaday lamadhi, Qoonkii Reer Gorode

Maantana qudhayda iyo Cabdoo, Qaawan baa hadhaye

    Qarigii ********ka yaal, qaraxii Doofaare

****** qareen kama dhigteen, qaatay halihiiye

Hadba qolo waxaan ula degaa, waa qariibnimo e

Qalbi hadii aad leedahay asaad, qaadan taladayda

    Qaydada Ilaahay kutimid, Qaadir taladiisa

Qawlkii Rasuulkiyo sharciga, hays qilaafina e

Qaatumadu yay kaa xumaan, qirada diineede

Qaybtaadii soo laasataye, qaafku dhigo looxa :D :D

  3. Baashiyow,

Though Oodweyne very much summed up what the parameters of this renewed political conflict are and what the expected out could be , the thing is this conflict in the eyes of IC should have been avoided and is totally unnecessary. Hassan spent a lot of political capital on the jubbaland issue , and all signs suggest the return if any will be meager for him. Madoobe and his inner circle are quite confident today more so than they were few nights ago. What changed? We don't know the details , but I think Hassan made a strong argument why it is important for his government to lead but could not muster any reasoning as to why that wasn't the case. Madoobe and co on the other hand are on record inviting the president and national leaders to come and lead the process.

The damage has already been done, the president sustained most of it politically speaking. The neighbors have an opening that was unimaginable few months ago. But still this could be managed if Hassan cut his losses and accept where Somalia is today.

Faroole is not asking much ; he wants the constitution he fought so fiercely to be adopted to be respected and followed. Madoobe has the a well documented political reconciliation conference , a well trained militia that has been very helpful in defeating alshabaab, and has a peculiar shrewdness that compensates his past history; he finds no difficulty to respect and recognize the legitimacy of national leaders yet he insists he and the region he leads have constitutional role.

Yesterday Ahmed Madoobe appointed a committee that will negotiate with Somali government with no conditions. They are in Kismayo now , and may soon go to Mogadishu. But implicit in his political maneuverings is that the SFG will have to think twice before they contest his leadership in that region.

How can both parties compromise and on what?

1 -Compromise starts from accepting the reality before you. Ahmed and Faroole seems to have no difficulty in that. Hassan Sheekh however has pushed himself to a corner, obviously it is difficult for him to maneuver from it. But Hassan will have to recognize the outcome of that conference

2- For Ahmed , he shall preserve the fundamentals (Jubbaland State-- the 3 regions, the election that produced his leadership), but he should compromise on any minor corrections deemed necessary by federal government i.e. delegates , also he should compromise on expediting the integration of his militia into the federal army , and negotiate a revenue sharing formula with the federal government

What other areas are open for compromise in the context of hardened positions of both sides?

  4. ^^:D NO

Sometimes Imam's superior af soomaali misleads people ---his reference to Somaliland was in the context of federalism.

And if you've been following Faroole you would know he is a very practical man. He always looks at the issue of Somaliland in non emotional lenses.

  5. Mintid, relax awoowe,

If I ever understood your angle I would have engaged you in debates , but your take on Southern politics is quite peculiar to say the least.

Jubbaland is a political reality , Hassan Sheekh tried to abort it but to no avail. This federal caravan shall go on.

So easy with the geopolitical talk and over analyzing simple concepts --establishing federal state in an important region against the objection of federal government

  6. nuune,

today is not a good day for Carafaat :D, so don't talk to him. He is very ill , the dormant clannish hatred woke up in him.

President Hassan has overstepped his mandate, he made waves against Jubbaland initiative , a very simple initiative to build a federal state for an important region in Somalia, a region whose leaders repeatedly told him that they do not question his legitimacy.

It is time to question his legitimacy until he come back begging for recognition. Dadkan caqli ma jiro ninyahow

  7. For once Oodweyne and Mintid saaxigay keeneen, after arguing this project is driven by Ethiopian and Kenyan government for months, they now say it represents local aspirations and neighboring countries have very little to do with it :D

    That is a big change

  8. ^^:D

Actually, Mr. Omer of Somaliland was there in an official capacity of his entity (cant say country). This flag nonsense is beside the point.

He talked about how Somaliland can position herself to attract investment . I still give credit to Minister Fawziya :D
