As long as we are in the bottom, we will always be called names

The Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel called black people “monkeys” during his weekly sermon on Saturday evening.

Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef was addressing Jewish legal aspects of the blessing on seeing fruit trees blossoming, during the current Hebrew month of Nissan, and, specifically, whether one should bless one tree or at least two.

In that context, he mentioned a blessing uttered upon seeing an “unusual creature,” citing the example of encountering a black person who has two white parents on the street in America.

In footage aired by the Ynet news site, Yosef could be seen referring to black people by the pejorative Hebrew word “kushi,” and then going on to term a black person a “monkey.”

His office told Ynet that the comparison was a quote from the Talmud.

Yosef has been known to court controversy in his sermons.

In a sermon delivered in May last year, he appeared to suggest during his weekly sermon that secular woman behave like animals because they dress immodestly.

In March 2016, Yosef was forced to retract a comment that non-Jews should not live in Israel, calling it “theoretical.”

He said non-Jews could live in Israel only if they observe the seven Noahide Laws, which are prohibitions against idolatry, blaspheming God, murder, forbidden sexual relations, stealing, and eating limbs off a live animal, and which prescribe the establishment of a legal system.

Non-Jews, Yosef said, are in Israel only to serve Jews.

Israel has two chief rabbis. Yosef represents those with origins in the Iberian Peninsula, North Africa, and the Middle East, and David Lau represents Ashkenazic Jews, with origins in European lands of the Roman Empire.

We will always be crying, because we cry at the wrong tree

Whether presidents, prime ministers, MPs or officers of other peoples will call us names and because we cannot disprove practically we demand apologies for saying it. Next few months the chinese say something, next year a european next an american...the cycle goes on.

Yosef made the statement about non-Jews on March 26 during his weekly Saturday night lecture.

He said non-Jews could live in Israel only if they observe the seven Noahide Laws, which include prohibitions against idolatry, blaspheming God, murder, forbidden sexual relations, stealing and eating limbs off a live animal, and which prescribe the establishment of a legal system. Non-Jews, Yosef said, are in Israel only to serve Jews.

“According to Jewish law, gentiles should not live in the Land of Israel,” Yosef said. “If a gentile does not agree to take on the seven Noahide Laws, we should send him to Saudi Arabia. When the true and complete redemption arrives, that is what we will do.”

Following a public backlash, Yosef on Tuesday clarified his comments in a statement, writing that his lecture referred to a future messianic era, not the present day. He wrote that he has “always adopted a peaceful and embracing path.”

“These laws are theoretical, refer to fulfilling the seven Noahide Laws in the days of the messiah, and have no connection to the present day,” the statement read. “It’s clear that there’s no law in our time, God forbid, to expel non-Jews from Israel.”

Earlier this month Yosef, the son of the late chief rabbi of Israel Ovadia Yosef, asserted during his weekly lecture that it was a mitzvah to kill a terrorist. He also asserted in the same March 12 lecture that the threat of being killed by an attacker’s would-be victim would deter such attacks.

Yosef’s statement on Tuesday claimed that “contrary to reports, he was one of the few who declared that neutralized terrorists shouldn’t be killed, and should be turned over to the authorities.”

OO,

I do not understand why you attacking your beneficiaries. THey give Ethiopia hundreds millions of dollars so the Tigray could get rich and keep pushing the war on terror. You and I know Israel helps Ethiopia in so many ways, so  Are you trying to throw jump ball to  Somalis in a war of words against the chosen people?.

Why not write these words in Tigray online or Afar weekly .

THe black people have to work hard and alleviate their game and take care off their people. Respect is not given it is earned. No one is leaving Vietnam or Thailand during peacetime, while hundreds of thousands  are leaving Eritrea, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Mali.

Exactly why I posted. I am always against people that complain of being called names. Who demand retraction, who demand apology. who demand resignation of some official or another.  I say so far its all facts on the ground.
