Disgraced by who?

Muj, AMM Siilaanyo ilaahay madaxiisa ha raajo, has been a transformative president. Somaliland is better off than what it was 2010 when he took over the helm.

The same way Somaliland was better off when Dahir Rayaale took over leadership. The same goes for AUN Egal who put this nation on the right path.

Every President has moved this nation forward.

The main reason why elections have been postponed is due to lessons learned from previous elections. The main issue with previous elections was the voter registration systems were not 100% reflective of the actual voters. There were instances of repeat votes.

The new system is based on biometric Iris scans. This has more or less eliminated duplicate voter registration. And for the first time, each polling station has a known number of registered voters, no more no less.

The postponement has not been lost in vain, we have something to show for it.

Guulwade is always guulwade no matter what mistakes the leader commits. It is corruption of the highest order to postpone elections. This is a huge set back.

Somalis remember PM Sharmarke and his famous speech during the war against Ethiopia 1964, Dr Sharmarke said: We join the elections and We are voting with our right hand, and with our left hand we took the rifle to defend the country from Ethiopians, our enemy, my dream is to liberate Somali who living under colonial power Ogaden, NFD, and Djabuti.

^I agree, if there is no good reason to postpone an election, then there shouldn't be a postponement.

But that is not the case, the first instant of postponement was made due to technicalities.

To hold elections in 2015 would mean that the credibility and fairness aspect of the election be compromised greatly. Something that cannot be underestimated since this is a hotly contested election.

It took the NEC to finalise the new registration system 2016, a system which is now more credible and more advanced than certainly all of Africa if not the world. One of the only states in the world to have 100% bio-metric based registration system which brings down double-registration and ghost voters down to zero.

Postponement of elections which was to be held in March this year was again due to a natural disaster. This later postponement was requested by all the 3 political parties.

These postponement are not out of malice, they are based on real issues.
