Obamacare - PPACT (for US nomads)

Recommended Posts

Baashi

You've probably heard quite a bit recently about the US Health Care Reform law, officially called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This law was put in place to make sure Americans have access to affordable health insurance. Come to next year (four months from today), the law require most Americans to have health insurance whether they get it from an employer, a private insurance company or from the government. The flip side of the law is that if they do not get health insurance, they may have to pay a tax penalty.

It is important for nomads in the states to know that they have to either get health insurance (through their employer, a private insurance company or the government) or else they may end up paying a fine -- sort of tax penalty.

It is also important to help other nomads who are having difficult time in understanding the law and its ramifications.

Read the law from the primary source and do not rely on the partisan media for making informed decisions on this issue. The chance are it will effect you or someone in your family, friends, community, etc.
