The Somali "Federal Government" does not care much for the unity of the Somali Republic.

That is because their is neither a unity nor a Somali Republic. Both are in the trash heap of political history ready to be taken for recycling to safe the Somali social environment. ;)

There is nothing eternal or sacred , but Somali republic we wish it well not sure how some politicians can keep up the unity, of a broken country.

They don't understand the notion of unification two states can unite and can leave each other nothing new in international law. If two paties unite both parties have to be satisfied by the terms if not they can leave its simple logic. Serbia and Montenegro recently dissolved their union because Montenegro thought it had a better chance of getting into the eu by itself. Serbia accepted because an act of union legally occurred between the two. Somaliland no longer sees any benefit of being in union with a faile state simple had this been the eu it would have been accepted by now. With or without recognition Somalia as a unified state is history.

A loose union, Serbia and Montenegro were united only in certain realms, such as defense. The two constituent republics functioned separately throughout the period of the Federal Republic, and continued to operate under separate economic policies, as well as using separate currencies (the euro was the only legal tender in Montenegro). On 21 May 2006, the Montenegrin independence referendum was held, and 55.5% of voters voted in favor of independence. The state union effectively came to an end after Montenegro's formal declaration of independence on 3 June 2006, and Serbia's formal declaration of independence on 5 June. After the dissolution, Serbia continued to be the legal successor of the union, while Montenegro re-applied for membership in international organizations.
