Salax President hassan u should not take his words to serious , he is just trying to be politically correct. The man has bigger issue , Kenyatta wants to claim more influence in southern Somalia. He is just dancing to the tunes. Salax he sees that Somaliland can help him unite his country but Somaliland has no interests. Marka ha iska hadle eeh yara daa.

Thousands upon thousands of Somalilanders thronged major streets of a Hargeisa in what seemed to be the largest commemoration in 22 years day since Somaliland broke away from the Somalia back in 1991 crowds marching along Independence Avenue; similar ceremonies took place in major towns across the country.

The day was marked with various festivities with people of all ages taking part in processions made of colorful groupings which comprised of private companies ,Students, civil societies, Government workers marched along Independence Avenue, followed by a full military parade.

Somaliland’s president Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo and other dignitaries watched the 18 May Independence Day procession in a temporary podium erected outside the heavily guarded Presidential palace in Hargeisa.

President Silanyo said, “This day provides not only an opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments but also a chance to prepare for the future ahead,.

“Even if Somaliland stays unrecognized for next 200 years we shall not relent instead we shall continue to strive to achieve that goal, god willing, we won’t stop seeking world recognition, Somaliland as you know is an island in the middle of a chaotic and unstable region, and we just want to live peacefully with our neighbors.

Somaliland leader in his independence day speech said,” On this day we reflect on the achievements of Somaliland has booked over the past 22 years and we also look forward to the future, which is to attain our ultimate goal.

“I’ve been here since five in the morning and there were many people to watch the parade, but still I am proud of our countries achievements.”” said Aisha Abdisamad a recently graduated medical nurse.
