Khalaf

Duke u are shorting the magnitude of the problem facing this Ethiopian backed TFG. The opposition simply melted away....some of the clan militias switched sides no loyalty there, matter fact could prove to be dangerous,......, while the shababs only changed positions, their leadership still intact. 89% of the population is armed, the same population that was bombed days ago no love there me thinks..........the TFG troops are now easy open targets, since it looks now that "heavy fighting is over", the TFG troops are taking the lead role n doing the searches ect.....the only "positive" development for TFG side is the damage to money side businesses and they will have no loyalty since they were backbone to the resistance........this is only another phase of the conflict, which could prove to be more bloody Duke.

It would be in the interest of Somalia, to immediately deploy Muslim Arab/African troops to replace ethios and disarm the public, larger humanitarian effort to help the displaced, and the Arab World, EU help with the peace process................i don’t think that will be the case.......somalia’s bloodly cycles seem to be in many ppls interest both internal and external.

^^^Khalaf with all due respect this whole insurgency was based on a small group, their only advantage was hiding out in heavily populated areas. This resulted in the mass exodus, loss of property and the deaths of civilains. However they have been damaged badly, their support basses are now willing to talk, had over wepaons and so on.

The TFG has faced no resistance any where else, even in Kismayu it was the fault of officers who got too big headed.

The fact that Dheere is given the post of mayir/governor alos highlights the seriousness of the TFG in getting to grips with Mogadishu security. We have a long way to go but the biggest obsticles have been overcome.

As for the Shabaab, its a nice sounding name but was nothing more than that.

Govt troops patrol Mogadishu, search for arms

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Allied Somali-Ethiopian troops patrolled Mogadishu on Saturday, hunting for weapons after claiming significant gains in battles with insurgents that have killed at least 1,300 people since February.

"The big war finished the day before yesterday," President Abdullahi Yusuf told reporters at the hilltop presidential palace, which rebels attacked several times in recent weeks.

"The government was fighting the remnants of the Islamic Courts. The government was not at war with the Somali public."

Interim government forces were deployed on Saturday in the city's Bakara Market, a former stronghold of rebels frustrating the administration's efforts to restore central rule in the Horn of Africa nation for the first time in 16 years.

"We are ready to collaborate with the government soldiers and we also welcome their arrival in the area," Abas Ahmed Duale, spokesman for a committee representing the market's businessmen, told independent Somali broadcaster Shabelle.

Some homes and commercial properties, including a Coca Cola plant, were looted on Friday as relative calm returned after nine-days of Mogadishu's heaviest fighting for years.

On Saturday, government troops were posted at strategic junctions in the city, searching cars and passengers for arms

^^^Thats your opinion mate. Though our troops are no more shabby than the roads, landmarks of our capital. Its not the TFG faults Mogadishu has no real roads, that all governemnt building were occupied, that private property was looted, that for 16 years there was no development.

Thus this breakthrough, this landmark, this turning point is a problem for some, while the past 16 years was some sort of golden age.

I gave you a caution not to post absent-mindedly images that absolutely bear no messages accompanying other than wasting a bandwidth. It is trolling.

SOL also has a maximum of eight images per post, not one picture per post. Instead of devoting an image per post, post once and for all in one post. At that, at least it can be accompanied if it has a message.

This thread has no message other other than being a troll.
