Somalia: Better Off under Islamic Courts?

Indeed Paragon, maxaa ku helay waa adiga ilko cadeeyaye. :D

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Fears of regional conflict soared as angry demonstrations against Somalia's radical Islamic militia grew Monday into deadly violence in a southern port city,
and the militia for the first time acknowledged getting help from foreign Muslims...

...Hassan Turki, leader of the Islamic militia, told a demonstration in support of his group in Kismayo earlier Monday
that foreign militants were helping his fighters.

"They are your brothers in Islam," Turki said.

Well for one thing that document didn't exactly ring true. They threw in the Ethiopian support for the TFG (which was an open secret than anyone with a camera in Baidoa could prove true) in order to achieve two things:

a: make the article seem as though it was impartial

b: make their allegations appear to be true

Other than the initial report however, literally no evidence has appeared for any of their accusations. It's the whole WMDs in Iraq all over again.

^Classic. :D

I am sorry if that is what you believe, but Somalia has been under UN arms embargo for over a decade and Secretary-general appointed monitoring members have been in existence since. It is their normal duty to report ever 6 months or so and even in that specific year of 2006, two reports came out with this one in November and an earlier one in May 10. The latter one in November is the only one that contained much of the ICU exploits (since most of the ICU's existence occurred in the months between) while both contain Ethiopian interference and breaking of the arms embargo. Infact, almost all of the prior reports have documented Ethiopian interference by way of supplying various warlords and the likes.

I suggest you research a bit next time young man. As for now, I believe we are done. smile.gif

Maxuu ka dooni hadaan ku su'aalo? smile.gif

If he wants to be a political pawn for a foreign dictatorship, why not head to Mogadishu then and drink grape-fruit in a nicely protected villa?

Ethiopia has been violating the arms embargo forever, they never respected it.

* Invading Gedo to go after al-Ittihad (1995-2002)

* Crossing the border to give Hiraan client-clans weaponry (2004-2005)

* Arming Mogadishu warlords and creating the ARPCT (2005-2006)

* And now fully invading the country (2006-2007)

I do however find it extremely convenient that the UIC is accused of a whole host of connections to international terrorism JUST WHEN the USA and Ethiopia need them.

Ethiopia didn't even get a slap on the wrist for violating a security council resolution, North Korean sanction, and the Somali arms embargo a dozen times. In fact, they've been rewarded with multimillion dollar gifts from the USA ever month or two.

^Clearly you seem to be in a conversation of your own.

I do not disagree with what you have outlined and while it is relevant, how is it relevant to the particular train of our discussion?

I'm out, good day.

Your objections would be valid if they were appointed in a peace-time setting, but we're at war, brother. The theatre of war is now centered in Mogadisho and hence, everything that is conducive to that effort will be done.

Including appointing Aideed and Idacadde to positions of leadership. Gotta think long and large. Not short and shallow.

It really amuses me to the core when I see US gripped, literally engrossed in minor stuff that has nothing to do with the bigger and the vital and the central issue of the current struggle which of course means to me nothing else but standing in the way of the occupation no matter how…with what and whom.

It’s all indhocade this or indhacase that…has anyone asked himself where he has been for the past 7 months? Ever get curious of why he was selected for that post in absentia? Where the hell has he been in 7 months? What was the circumstances surrounding his selection? These are the right questions to ask, to be curious about if one is really genuinely is concerned about the Darwiishes ‘reputation’ unless otherwise one is of course out there with the Dukes of this world itching for an exit, and a change of heart for the Tigrinyan boys in Hamar..

Thanks Kashafa, I could never have explained it better...

Lacala haduu tago dee waa shaqsi, shaqsigana rabitaankisa isaga iyo alle mooyaane cid kalay ku xirantaane jirin. Anigu iyo rag badanoo la abtirsadana, dee kolayba waanu kasoo horjeedsan. Not because we support Ethiopia being in Somalia any more than those at Asmara, but clearly there is no reason to choose between the two undesirables. Midna Somalia faa'iido uma hayo. Not the temporarily patched together political "federation" in Asmara (a misfitting coalition of sorts without a chance of bringing a Somali-wide initiative) and neither those disgraceful hooligans running around in Mogadishu under heavy Ethiopian guard.

Kuwii shalay maato Soomaaliyeed ciidan shisheeye iyo qalab shisheeye Ramadaan dhexdeeda kusoo hogaamiyey iyo kuwaan hada ku gamaadayo wax aanu ku kala doorana meeshaan kumaan aragno.
