I don't intend to get involved in squabble concerning political ideologies, old or new, but I must make one objection. Referring to a deceased SNM combatant as a "Mujahid" is simply wrong. Claims of that sort, although they have been made repeatedly on this forum, are a distortion of historical facts. They're also grossly out of context when it comes to Islam because a Mujahid is defined as a Muslim warrior in Jihad. (A definition of the latter might be called for but I'd rather not get into that).

People can try to reconstruct history as much as they want now, but neither in its inception nor at the height of its power did the SNM overtly portray itself as a revolutionary force, much less one based upon religious doctrine. They were a guerilla movement and, as far as writers of Somali history can tell, probably quite content in being just that. Otherwise, they would have altered their status; they had ample time to do so.

NGONGE,

No need for apologies sxb, we are exchanging points of view and in the process we realize we have more in common than we realise. You want the well being of your people and so do many of us outright supporters of Somaliland, and whether you ever take up the political struggle or not, nobody can take away the good-will you carry towards your own. For that, I respect you sxb.

Dusty,

inadeer how's France treatin ya? est-ce que tu pratiques toujours ton français? As-tu encore dégustés les fromages de la région toulousienne? :D

Of your nineteen or so posts on this site so far, are there none that don’t concern that “non-existent†country by the name of Somaliland, saaxib? ;)

Well, the problem lays here :

People of one issue are dangerous cause they have nothing else to back them once that issue is dealt with..

<------Thinking how things will be once dealt with in way or another

Salam

So much has been uttered about the future of Somaliland's pursuit for recognition. One thing is clear to everyone who has had first contact with the bulk of propaganda that the unreliable sources of media daily ooze to reaffirm and reinforce their ideologies. 14 years have passed and yet we haven't heard of suggestions or hint of approval for recognition except few missionaries who went to Hargeisa and returned with the injection of biased treatment to the susceptibility of their eyes to questionable, objectionable persuasive of oppression.

The administration in Hargeisa only works in two cities, thus lacking the power to exert control and rule on most parts of former British protectorate. Ask yourself, why the Somali currency still works in Burco and vicinities, why the locals of Burco use the port of Boosaso knowing their allegiance to their future self-determination is shattered. As a citizen, there are duties that you should be obliged to observe and provide for its demands. There is total mental collapse in place that have driven most people into hysteria of wanting recognition when there is clear evidence that oppression and corruption is breeding in an unprecedented level right now.

True, the current admin is using the 'recognition' as a means to control and oppress. If you even utter any kind of diapproval against the admin, your sent to jail.

There must be a campaign to highlight the curruption and shortcomings of the current admin, 3 1/2 years is too long to wait for another election.

If telling the truth is trying, then I must try some more.

Many of you seem to have been thoroughly dominated by your unrealistic dreams and thoughts about an independent somaliland. The possibility of independent somaliland is highly unlikely considering the political, social, and the geographical reality that exists today. Somaliland is just another renegade state. It incense me to see Somali fellows who advocate divsion and detest any unity and as long as you have this type of mentality you will never make changes in your lives.
