In Garoowe there is a constitutional compromise while Maryo Allol led Hargeisa chose tyranny and oppression.

Here is what the English dictionary say about the word " Compromise" :

"an agreement reached by adjustment of conflicting or opposing claims, principles" or a settlement of differences by mutual concessions.

In Puntland there was a contentious election since C/laahi Dani initiated a province wide one person one vote election. The majority of the people had welcomed this universal suffrage which has been delayed for more than two decades. Yet, a very small group of politicians based in Garoowe refused this inclusive election. In fact, violent clashes had taken place between the government and the clan militia that objected the election.

Each one of them had certain unmovable principles to object the opposite side. While it is difficult to oppose Dani as someone calling a wider public participation,  his intensions were always suspicious.  He had an opportunity to hold the elections early in his first year of his leadership, but decided to wage a campaign to replace Farmaajo and thrown the local elections to the dust bin.

The Garoowe group  had prepared for the usual selections of buying elders. At the same time,  the opposition to Dano happen to be his most loyal cabinet members. Dani had more advantage including that the people of Puntland hate the Garoowe opposition as rich spoiled oligarchs who feel entitled. Their defeat was apparent, but since this project was nurtured through compromise and consensus, it was difficult for many leaders to give C/laahi Dani a black check especially after his  neglect of the Puntland issues for higher power. More clashes in peaceful town also doesn't bode well for Puntland.

Thus, both sides would get something from these constitutional moves.

First, the idea of 66 elders selecting the leader was abandoned while preserving both the principle of direct democracy advocated by Dani and the select small caucuses preferred by the Garoowe oligarchs. The number of electors will be 66 as demanded by the insurgents in Garoowe, but these 66 will be elected with the banner of a political parties. Each region is assigned a fixed number  of seats like before, but will be elected directly by the people. In turn these 66 members belonging to different parties will chose the president of Puntland. Everyone is satisfied.

It is a great compromise. If this was Biixi with support of 90% of the people he would have destroyed his opposition. The mature Puntlanders decided to workout something with their opposition rather than vanquish them. The game will be played with the rules agreed upon and everyone will accept the outcome.

In Hargeisa, the warlord turned president has refused every compromise. Since the day the political disagreements started in the summer of 2021 just after the Parliament and municipal election, he never moved an inch. The opposition asked him to hold the presidential election which was away just over a year, but refused delaying and disbanding election commissions. When the business community worked out a compromise that would hold both the Guurti and presidential elections together, he refused again. When the parliament passed in new law to lead to compromise he refused. It is either his way or the highway. For six years he never gave the opposition for one single inch. Sometimes he hides behind the old fart Saleebaan Gaal, the commission or the court.

He forgot that this place had survived through a compromise.

History had shown the Maryo Allol had never brought peace or compromise. All they know is the barrel.

This time around they will get for what they wish.

The opposition in Puntland was disingenuous and has subsequently overplayed their hand. HSM's Friday sermons and Hamza's regurgitation didn't help them either. Deni has dictatorial tendencies but even he knows his limits though he will stretch those limits as far as he can.

Muse sincerely believes can overpower everyone including his own clansmen.

They were very spoiled Aaron Jaan,, you see if they wanted to change anything in the 1p1v, they should have asked , and advocated for better system, but to advocate for the OLD system, what were they thinking? Very stupid, and very arrogant

Faroole and kids have been the A MAJOR obstacle, to PL, from the beginning, I highly doubt they would get any even in old system

It's funny all these laangaabs   praying day and night isq to fight over kursi.    While downplaying the fact that deni and garowe clan didn't agree any thing.  Deni just proceeded his plans   taking advantage of the hartii war against somaliland.    This has positive impact on us too.   Same like deni and his supporters , muuse will defeat the opposition and we will rally behind him to karbaash cadawga durriyada isu soo bahaystsy.

Yaa laga caqli badan yahey .  Maanaa mindiyo lay qarshaa laygu qali doono

Good analyses. Credit goes to the old guards: Islam Bashir, Gen. Said Dheere, and Qarjaf, who for the 5th time came to the rescue. In turn, Islam Ciise, the weak link in the Issims hierarchy, has shown maturity, and listened when it mattered.

Whilst naive, if rather green in his dealings, Deni has shown he is a shrewd negotiator, outmanoeuvering the opposition, but can still f@ck up, so let us hold off extending accolades till Jan. 8th. A consolation lesson learnt from the Local Council elections was that the Election Commission could manage the process with very little, if any interference from Deni & Co.

Postscript:

With HY finally arming themselves, let us hope Biixi & Co. heed their warnings. Trouble with Hargeysa politics is there was only one card to lull the poor public to sleep "ictiraaf", and that has since been ripped to pieces by reer SSC, and now even ina Jirde, the last wise man left in the triangle, is left staring at his toes.

It is Abno-waas vs Beeno-waas what is going in Garowe. They just kicked the dispute down the road for another day.

The Garowe clan, come hell or high water, will be the next leaders of that clan enclave. Take that to the bank.  Because that is how the hagbad goes around.

This is how I know you are clueless in Somali politics, even in the triangle, and your takes are hinged upon wishful desires from the home front rather than observed actualities grounded in history, and influential actors. As usual, your sources are ill-placed, if misinformed, and I am being kind in saying so.

Cawad is the only political leader from Nugaal within a chance, with his chances halved by his aligning himself with ilma Hoolay, and his winning is now akin to that of pulling a black rabbit out of a magical fedora - that is not to say it is improbable, but highly unlikely.

There never was a 'Tara' culture, something which only resonates with the ill-informed outsiders.

We will see about that. But what I know is that, Garowe clan will not allow Qardho or Galkacyo to take their turn.

So all these Constitutional talk is just bluff.

Even if the old elders system is brought back Faroole clan has zero chance. They won't get any votes from Sool and Sanaag plus Reer Bari and that number alone is over 40.

In Mjeerteeniya the so called Parliament is only a formality, even when voting for the next leader, they know they have to obey the Maxamuud Saleebaan gentleman's agreement of rotating the seat. So essentially, they are only there to choose between next candidates that hails from the next recipients of the Hagbad.

A bolt is loose in the head of Minister for Information for PL. He comes across frustrated and angery.

He is lashing out on everybody. Nothing has materialised and they have only got bogged down in a conflict they have no means for, so now they are now angry with everybody including UN, International Organisation, Villa Somalia. You name it.

Oh the irony and mouthful of cognitive dissonance.

O' my, have not we fallen so low into the pit as to resorting to cropping and pruning, eh? Typical pamphleteering practice. Were not you just accusing someone of relying upon social media sources - af iyo dhego aan is maqal iga dheh!

It does not bode well for you, mate, for it look like you have not listened to the whole clip, and if you did, your comprehension is awry. What exactly did he say, which irked you to dash in haste to post the clip, and append inconsequential, if undescriptive notations? Or did you mistake SOL for one of reerka chat-groups, where everything goes, and you are applauded for your lack of comprehension?

If anything, it shows the local media is clueless on multiple fronts.
