They will become just like the other frozen conflicts in that part of the region South Osetia and Abkhazia come to mind.

The Russian  invasion the US officials were kept talking about for the last few weeks had probably begun by recognizing these breakway regions. This is real escalation by Putin.

Whether frozen conflict like in Georgia or incorporated  means Putin will fight for them. Ukraine must try to take back these regions while the west cribles Russian economy through tough sanctions.

I was just telling the other day to this long time colleague - who is of Ukrainian descent - that Putin really wants to take these two regions officially and permanently. I told him Putin is moving all these soldiers near the borders to distract by taking these regions to make the West feel that war has been averted. It exactly happened as I said.

According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, the invasion has begun, If true, this is the largest invasion the Bolveshik Soviet army marched to Berlin.

Explosions are heard in Kyiv and Kharkiv.
