Ethiopia is a big country, Tom and Jerry chase can continue endlessly if political solutions are not sought. Abiy should focus on facilitating an inclusive dialogue with regional groups, and not be distracted by waging wars against one group among many groups, that would be his fatale mistake.

The Tigray forces are weakening. The Amhara fighters are getting better, specially their territory.  Their best chance is hide inside their territory, even if they got help. With their small population it will be hard to be around Amhara and Afar region. It is possible that Abiya army will  capture  MEKELE again in few months.

If Abiy contains TPLF, he will have to deal with Amhara special forces and Fano militias. He would either have to embrace them or take them on. The Ethiopian saga will continue for a while.

They are giving themselves but IC lost some credibility. They can't leverage Abiy.

UN asked its staff to come back to Addis and I imagine embassies will follow suit.

Rebel Tigrayan forces fighting the central government are withdrawing from neighbouring regions in northern Ethiopia...

We trust that our bold act of withdrawal will be a decisive opening for peace,” And “We decided to withdraw from these areas to Tigray. We want to open the door to humanitarian aid,”

Very odd statements from the TPLF head, proving that their war was never about humanitarian aid. They (TPLF leadership) should be held accountable for plunging Ethiopia in to this futile civil war and to prevent others going in to that same pathway of ethnic extremism. They can’t possible expect the IC to save TPLF leadership when they have instigated mass bloodshed to grab power. If nobody is held accountable for this, then others like the Amhara and Oroma might try to repeat the same.

Absolutely. They might have had case if they had remained in their region while protesting the blockade. Waging war through other regons and trying to take over Addis had exposed the TPLF and their sponsors.

THis lunatic is calling for no fly zone. Ethiopia isn't LIbya.

Unless Ethiopia trials the top TPLF leadership and puts them in front of a firing squad. That might deter Amhara, waaney naf jaceyl yihiin.

Abiy should give an ultimatum for unconditional surrender of top TPLF cadre, before starting any negotiations or national dialogue, Nuremberg style.

The galla hordes and their Amhara masters cannot defeat. Tigrayans any time soon.

false beliefs in ethnic superiority is what has led the Tigray to be hated and be prosecuted across their own country, and today has cut them off and put hatred between them and all their neighbours, Amhara, Afar, and Eritrea.

LOL before the drones, they were barely putting up a fight. On the other hand, Afar nomads fought gallantly.

Che, are you denying that the real capacity of Ethiopia’s armed forces in terms of skills and knowledge(information, secrets, et ), leadership (officers) and resources(equipment and hardware) is/was with the TPLF camp?

The TPLF dominated the Ethiopian armed forces for three decades with 80%-90% of officers and then plundered most of the equipment and hardware which was based in Mek’ele, and then subsequently killed off and bought off most experienced non-Tigray officers,  and all Tigray officers 80 or 90% of Ethiopian army switched sides to the TPLF.

Above all they sold this war to their own people and IC as an existential war. I am sure that even the Tigray folks will hold the leadership in to account, at least that would best course for Ethiopia, that the Tigray people themselves show they were deceived in to this war and get rid of the TPLF once and for all.
