I am planning to visit Somalia ( puntland and Somaliland ) Insha Allah. I have visited these regions in the country before but, I know there's always going to be more for me to learn. In this summer, I would love to explore some of Somali’s most historic places. If you know of any historical sites or building around there that should get explored, please let me know and I'll visit it! Your suggestions and advices will be greatly appreciated! Many Thanks.

Places:

Of course on your way you will pass by lots of places but the spacial places in SL would be:

1- Lasanod: You can walk around and visit the places where Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan used to have bases. There is a mountain just outside the city where you climb and see his base and his little houses still exist.

2- Burco: Yeah, then you can remember Ibti, Norf and NG while there. Just pretend you're one of them and walk around ,,

3- Sheikh: You need to spend sometime there. You can see the first Secondary school in SL. There are farms, waterfalls and very green mountains. You will need one full day to walk. I will share a photo album with you about Sheikh.

4- Berbera: Of course you need to see the beach, the grave of the Cilmi Boodhari and his place where he met Hodan in the first time. You will have time to see the port and some other historical places like where Ina Igarre used to stay during his empire.

5- Laas-Geel: This is the place where recently discovered with historical paints and drawings.

6- Hargeisa: Of course you can't miss hargeisa. There are many places to visit inside the city.

7- Borama: Of course it is a must see place. You will see the Amoud University, the SAW mountain where tremors come from, and yeah some other places and nice ppl.

8- Zayla: yes, haven't seen that place yet but i could just go to see the old masjid with the two qiblas. The Sa'adadin Island and so on.

9- Erigavo: Haven't been to that place either but it is out of question. One of the Best places in the region. You can see and climb Daalo.

what did i forget ????

Nice suggestions! Number 8 and 5 :definitely worth a visit at least for the novelty.I need a long list of the best places to visit in Puntland too. smile.gif

Unfortunately, these places are not extremely close to each other geographically so it might be a long trip, but I’m concentrating mostly on visiting Taleex (qalcada) , Biyo kulule, ,Laas-Geel , Saylac, and maybe Lascaanood . Thank you very much everybody. Your Suggestions and feedback are highly appreciated.

DD, There are many places in puntland that you can visit. While in Bosaso, make sure you go around and visit the port, the underconstruction airport and of course the beach.

The only place i like is Qardho. Very calm and good for a little vacation. Even people are not that noisy and the weather is so nice. U just need to sleep as much as you can and when you wake up you can walk around and enjoy the calmness.

You need to eat those places on your way to Garowe starting from Bosaso. There is Alxamdulillah, Sinujiif, Yeko Yeko, and others. You will enjoy the Hilib but make sure you don't eat the Beer coz they serve it with Soup.

In Garowe, you will not find anything interesting inside the town exept experiencing the place and going around to see people. Make sure you have Xalwo in that place called XALWO KISMAAYO. It is delicious. During the afternoons, you better go out a little bit to Conoco where the airport is located. Before you go there, you will find nice firms, some lakes and beautiful dry rivers. Some of firms there are tens of horses some of them are wild. You can arrange some so that you can ride for your experience.

In the otherside, you can visit where the Garowe water supply. You can take some drinks and sandwiches and have an afternoon there.

Don't forget to have one day in Burtinle. People are nice and they will serve you like a queen if they know you're from outside.

Stay away from Galkacyo for the moment. The place is good but it is not save for the moment. But you can spend few hours if you want. Just for the sake of it ,,,,

Now that is all i can say from puntland too.
:D

;)
