So I bought a Nokia 6280 phone set to 3G from Amazon for £115. I thought ..what a bargain, if I just ring the network they'd be able to provide me with the restriction code thingy which only cost around £15. To my dissapointment though, they refused on the grounds that the original owner hadn't finished his contract (only been on it for 2 months)and the only way to get the code was to pay £150 for it. To top it all off the seller forgot to includ a charger with the phone which he said on the site he would, so I've had to go buy it myself. Serioulsy feel like I've been cheated with misinformation...the seller mailed me saying it was possible to get it unlocked easily. It's only possible if and only the original ownwer had finished the duration of his contract-which there was no mention of on amazon. I'm thinking of returning the phone. I don't know how much of a refund I'm entitled to as I've thrown all the packaging away ...

What to do?! Help :(

There are locals (phone repair/payment shops) who charge $20.00 to unlock the phone so u can use it anywhere/network you want. It will be easy to locate one in your city.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to get a 6280 phone unlocked here in the UK without your service provider doing it for you. Is it that simple in the US? wish I was there

Anyone bought anything from amazon, chucked the packaging away and still got a refund or partial refund? I'm curious because I jus got an email from the seller saying he isn't prepared to refund me anything since I've lost the packaging?

What  are we talking about the same phone here i mean, to my understanding its impossible everywhere . are you saying a locked 3G 6280 is easily unlocked? in that case maybe you could help a damsel in distress if i give you my phone's imei number and you could sort me out?
